Last night I was reading some FA and hemosiderin was mentioned somewhere. My brain did a quick check... ok, that's the insoluble iron stuff... that lipid peroxidation "aging" pigment is called... um, that's called... er... hemosiderin... no, it's uh...

I was determined to remember the name without looking it up. I couldn't. I had to go to sleep utterly frustrated for forgetting something I've heard a thousand times over the past two years. It's like forgetting the name of that red contractile tissue that makes your arms and legs move.

I think the box is officially full. I guess I just need to make sure I'm knocking out memories of my childhood now, and not things I reviewed three weeks ago.

LOL! I feel exactly the same way. I don't know how much longer I can go on like this before my brain actually starts leaking out my ears. 🙂

I know what you mean . . . a bunch of us were discussing the features of Kallman's syndrome and we could come up with everything but the word "olfactory cells"--the best I could do was those "smell cells" even though I knew pretty much everything else about it.

lipofuschin?😕

👍Yeah, lipofuschin <sp?>

Linuxgirl. . .apparently we're classmates. How's your step one study going? Did you go to the Kaplan review?

Please be reminded that recalling a fact is much harder than recognizing it among the choices.

Imagine I ask you: which of the following represent aging in the brain?

a) hemosiderin
b) lipofusin
c) neurofibrillary tangle
d) councilman body
e) mallory body

I bet you can correctly choose b). So relax my friend.

If they would ask 350 questions like that, I wouldn't have to study 16 hours a day for a month.

And if your house is like mine, lilnoelle, it's more like 16 hours to get in a good solid 6.

Argh. I'm runnin' about 60% on UWorld on all new unseen questions, and for every fact I try to shove in my brain, another one leaks out. And some things I just can't get to stick no matter what I try.

Nah, my kids have been with my parents for two weeks now. They come back tomorrow, which means I won't be able to study quite as long for the next few days before my test.

I'm totally jealous. Haven't been able to take any assessment exams 'cuz I never get a block of time that big free without "MOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!" or "I'm hungry" or "HEY! Look at what I did!"

Hoping doing questions questions questions questions will be enough.
