How much about the brain are we required to know? Basics like cerebrum, cerebellum, medulla?

And can someone point out the key differences about the white matter and the grey matter that we should know for the MCAT?

i think i told someone else, a good review book covers everything that you'll need to know as far as anatomy and functional parts of the brain, TPR is a bit overboard but I mean its stuff that you'll need to know like the back of your hand during your medical school studies anyways, so mind as well learn it now or be familiar with it. I would know the main parts of the brain as you pointed out, but I wouldn't worry about like divisions of the brain such as Telencephlon, etc (excuse the spelling). Just read it a few times and you should know it all.

Mylenation is how white matter differs from gray.

Yeah you only need to know some basic anatomy and function of the main parts: Hypothalamus, medulla, cortex, cerebellum

Gray matter is unmylenated and contains neural bodies. White is myelinated for fast conduction.

I took 15 FL's (BR and AAMC) and lots of practice problems, can't remember a single question on the brain.
