So as I am going back to do my secondaries I am noticing that alot of schools (Western, Midwestern AZ, and IL) have a C minimum for the science prerequisites.

Apparently, a C- is no good though. I've got one on my transcript. One single solitary one in organic chem. fml.

Should I call them and say that I will go ahead and re-take it if I get in? If it came to that, I would do so more than happily. But Midwestern IL said that my "academic credentials met the minimum requirements."

Or should I just pray that they are flexible considering the rest of my application? Has anybody gotten into these schools with a C- on their transcript?

I'm just pissed because there go 3 of my favorite schools which both happen to be "safer." And I'm in the same boat with BU due to one semester of physics that I took at CC.

You need a C or higher in all courses before you graduate. Also its hard to tell how much this will affect you by not knowing any other information about you

That aside my application is in pretty good shape. After summer classes ill have 3.4 ovr/ 3.3 sci. 22/22/18 AA/TS/PA. Good amount of extracurrics & volunteering

I'm just wondering if schools will disquallify me because of the C-. Honestly, if I had to, I'd more than happily re-take it in the summer before heading to D school, but I'm afraid that they will see that I got something "under a C" in a Science pre req and toss my application out right then and there. I'm afraid to call them because I don't want to draw attention to it too.

I am sure that you need a minimum of C in all pre-reqs for all schools, not just the ones you listed. MWU-IL sayings that your academic credentials met their minimum requirements may simply mean you met their GPA and DAT cutoffs. Schools can offer you an interview before you finish the pre-reqs, but you must finish them before you can matriculate (if accepted). If I were you, I would stop wondering and call the schools.

Thats part of my question though. Is a C- considered... well, below a C for most places? I didn't think it to be a big deal until I saw on these school's sites that "C-s will not be accepted"

PLAIN AND SIMPLE ---- YES
You already answered your own question - it IS below a C.
Not for most places --- for ALL places.

The fact that whichever school your referring to put it on it's website is more reitteration.
MWU simply offers supplementaries based on having an 18 overall DAT and gpa higher than 2.75.

thanks. I guess I just wanted to know if the schools payed attention to the + -. My undergrad school didn't use that system so I dont know how seriously its taken, but I took one class at another school and I got a C-... didn't think it was much of a big deal, I figured that a C was a C was a C. Thanks!

My undergrad is the same way, and going thru this app cycle has totally made me realize what a blessing in disguise that can be!
a 81.1 is the same as a 89 = a B ! etc etc.
(but that can also be a hindrance, if u were borderline to the next grade up i guess)

Ironically if you applid the +/- system to my undergrad my gpa would go up like .3 of a point. I have a bunch of 89s and not any low 80s... only one low 70... go figure. so is life. I think when I call around at the end of the summer I will ask if they have reviewed my app and if that red flag came up, I'll stick Orgo II on my schedule for the fall. Reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaally wanna get in this cycle
