I hope that you received your acceptance letter already if you interviewed at Duke. ALL of the people who interviewed before Feb should have received notification of their acceptance if they truly were accepted.

I called their admissions office recently, and I asked them "The only acceptance letters that remain to be sent out are for people who interviewed in February and March, right?", and the lady on the other end of the phone replied "Basically, yeah".

Since I interviewed in December, I guess that means I am toast.

Duke does not use rolling admissions Acceptances are mailed the last week of Feb. The class is oversubscribed by a factor of two and a wait-list of about 100 generated around April 1. Rejection letters are sent throughout the process with the last rejection letters generally being mailed July 1.

The wait-list is rank ordered. Applicants are asked to return a letter of intent to remain on the wait list. Wait-listed candidates are discouraged from calling and no supplementary materials may be submitted. Generally, fewer than 10 wait-listed candidates are accepted each year, most of them in June.

Sorry to correct you, but you are a little wrong on this one. Duke was behind this year in interviewing, so they are doing at least two cycles of acceptances. The first batch went out last Friday and reportedly the next batch will go out next Friday. I know that some people have already been accepted and some interviewed as late as this Monday.

Well that's a drag, Slobert. If you happened to be a regional interviewee, you can still hold out some hope, though.

Duke is truly driving me crazy, more than any other school has during this process. I think it's precisely because there's been so much confusion and delay in their notifications. Non-rolling admissions give you a fixed date after which you abandon all hope. Rolling admissions string you along, but at least you're prepared for it. But Duke's "Applicants will be notified on February 28th no make that March 4th or possibly March 12th if you were a regional or late interviewee or even in April if you were regional and your report got to us late or you're on the waitlist and who knows when actual rejection letters get sent out.." is more than I can handle right now. But handle it I must.

And you know what? This stringing along is starting to make Duke seem more and more important in my mind. Duke is TEASING me, refusing to commit, and it's become immensely desireable because of that. I'm not even sure if I want to go to Duke, but this past week all I can think of is what that envelope will contain. If it ever arrives. Yeesh.

Actually, (just to add to the confusion) I just read an interview feedback saying that the person interviewed on February 21 at Duke and has already been accepted.

I really hope they are sending out acceptances randomly and not according to interview dates because a good friend of mine interviewed in January and is still waiting to hear from them.
