That is pretty freakin' funny... and realistic.
One thing I'll never get is why ED residents think it's okay to say "I don't know, I was signed this out by someone else". As if this is some kind of reasonable excuse for ignorance. I would be too embarassed to say something like this to a consultant. Better to take a few minutes and actually see the patient, and get some basic information before calling for a consult.
The end of shift dump always annoyed me. Fortunately, it was minimal with my ER consultations, they would consult surgery/PRS (we covered both as residents,) as they came in. I attribute it to the ED at my hospital being attending only, with surgical and medical residents rotating for a month to do get familiar.
If this video is realistic for the rest of the world...both funny and sad at the same time.
Did ED rotations with surgical shock down at Ben Taub where there were no ED attendings; just a separate surgery and medicine teams for the real trouble, and a FP to handle most of the less emergent problems. PRS usually gave us the green light to do something.
