Hi! I'm new here, and was wanting to ask the ever-popular question: "Do I have a chance?" Here are my stats:
Overall GPA: 3.6, Science GPA: 3.5, MCAT: 22 (yes, it's pathetic, but I'm retaking it in August)
Extracurriculars:
I've been doing research for the past year and will be continuing it until May
ER volunteer since March
Sunday School teacher- the past 2 years
Youth leadership experience- the past 2 years
Shadowing experience with 4 DOs and 1 MD
Peer mentor- 1 year
Member of the Honors program at my school- 3 years
Involved in several organizations at my school- 2 years
Summer camp volunteer- last summer
Three summers of volunteer daycare assisting

*sigh* what do you all think? I guess I'm just freaking out over my MCAT score. 😱 Also, I'm still working on getting my LORs. This application business is for the birds! 🙂

I think you're in good shape. Your grades may counteract that MCAT, but I'd retake it anyways.

You're in much better shape than I, and I applied anyways. 👍

Not a good question to ask on a pre-med forum. You know all the "experts" hanging around here. 😉

i'm replying to this so that you DON'T think that you are pathetic. i have never told people my scores on here b/c they're not the greatest. anyway, i have a 3.7 gpa and 3.6 science. i took the mcat and got a 25, then i took it again and got a 23!!! i don't feel that i'm pathetic. don't let the test identify you-you're much smarter than that. can you tell i tell myself this? 🙂 Anyway, if you do take it again, study REALLY hard b/c it would be worse to get a worse score.

definitely apply, there are plenty of people who are applying with scores like that. who knows, you might get in? 😉

Good luck!!!
