the future of pain

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't buy the theory that criminals are looking for a challenge. They go for the low hanging fruit like everyone else.

Personally, I don't own any weapons, have never fired a gun and leave my condo door unlocked during the day. I'm in a "secured" building but it would be a cake walk for any determined criminal to get to my place. The thing is, I have no wife, no kids, nothing of any value in my condo and basically no liabilities. Criminals are welcome to come by and take a look around as long as they clean up after themselves.

Even though I don't choose to have guns around, I completely support the legal right to do so. I think facets should be allowed to mount a chain gun on his roof if he judges it necessary to protect his family and property. Who the hell am I to know any better?

So a few big dogs outside and he obviously must have large quantities of drugs in the house? Most home invasions are to obtain 100 lbs of coke and not people looking for a quick, easy robbery? And you are seriously questioning HIS thought process? 🙄

Yes he may be over prepared for a home invasion. However I'd rather be over prepared than under. You would be surprised to know the number of people who think as this poster does.

Actually, the Pro Tip for home invasion is to nab them while they're away from home, then have them escort you back. Through the garage, not the backyard with the slobbering dogs.

The guy doesn't have a few big dogs. He has a veritable smorgasbord of every stereotypically violent dog that's bred. The guy with 1 doberman? He's protecting his family. The guy with 17 dobermans? He's protecting his loot.

Yes, I think he is very well protected from the 22 year-old electronics thief. But I think he's potentially put himself on the radar of larger-scale criminals. I'm not sure how you can deny this, but feel free to continue.

i fail to see how a gun in every room makes you MORE safe? if there is a break in, what makes you think you are going to overpower a mexican gang?
and is that what you want? a shootout? good thinkin, tex.
what is wrong with this picture?

SS, you just dont get it. If someone kicks in your front door, and your in the spare room and your gun is in the bedroom closet-makes sense now.

A nice house with 3 Dobermans, a Rottweiler, and a Pit? Talk about drawing attention to yourself from the wrong people. It's like advertising that you have something of interest inside. You're almost inviting a gang attack.

I would expect all successful physicians to have a nice home. I do. Please
explain how the thiefs go from home to home looking for big dogs so they can break in. 100lbs of coke?? Yes, that house has 4 big dogs, so its got coke in it.

If the wrong person sees those dogs, they're going to think you have a bunch of drugs in the house.

and you know this how?

Yeah, like 100 lbs of coke.
5 attack dogs? C'mon. When your backyard looks like the set of a DMX video, you shift the attention from petty criminals looking to steal your dinnerware to organized rings looking to see what you're protecting with such fervor.

I'm taking up smoking crack. Maybe it will help me see your perspective.
I think DMX lives in AZ.

And you are seriously questioning HIS thought process? 🙄

Tell that to sharon tate before the manson crew ripped her up. They left the doors unlocked.

I got to agree. The weak get prayed upon.

Read above:idea:

Schiener,

To be clear, I was not calling you over prepared. I was stating that under/over prepared is debatable and personally I would always rather side with over prepared. And the large population of people who take similar stances will infrequently have 100 kilos laying around. I think that these "large scale" criminals who are after mass drugs probably are smart enough to make decisions based on things other than the number of big bad assed dogs in the back yard. If not, natural selection would probably take care of them after a couple of break ins at the local trailer park.

"hey, that trailer has 8 pit bulls, they must have a ton of crack and cash in suitcases!".:laugh: I'm not seeing the logic but we can agree to disagree.

gabba,
My comments are directed towards SS. Really my point is that just because you have dogs it does not mean you have drugs in your house.

Actually, we love dogs, The pit is a rescue, there are a lot of nice pits in rescue. The dogs have full range of the house, yards and beds.🙂 Nothing like a Doberman bed warmer

i must be really having a stressfull day, because out of everything anyone has said, nothing got me upset, but this made me jealous...

I'm picturing the scene from "Tremors" where one of the large burrowing beasties breaks through the wall of Michael Gross' character's house, right where he stores dozens of guns. He and his wife let loose on the creature and kill it.

"Broke into the wrong God-damned Rec Room didn't you?" he yells at it.

Why is "Tremors" ALWAYS on? is it really that good of a movie?

Hey guys you forgot to build a "safe room". I hope it doesn't fill up with dog poop during a long siege.

Not to ruin a perfectly good thread but-

Maybe the future of pain management will be that we will all run pill mills! Some bereaucrats think that needles in the back are unsafe and untested and to save money they should not be compensated for. A pill mill will save the government/ACA lots of money now won't it?

(I'm envisioning some of you polishing your guns at home as you read this)

This is what Medicaid wants - they usually won't pay for injections, or sometimes just not in the office, they only pay hospitals to do PT, if anyone, they wont pay for non-generics. They want everyone on vicodinsomaxanax, as long as its coming from one doctor and one pharmacy. With that, they and the patients are deliriously happy.

With the new health system kicking in, most of the new 50 million or so with "insurance" will actually be on Medicaid.

Is a devalued dollar the global free market's solution to US government-imposed minimum wage, in the setting of increased competition?

Very interesting point especially thinking about certain trips to europe before the whole euro thing got started. Is america headed to the euro as part of this global market take over? Will the gov take over 100% medical?

SS, I was having a bad day when I posted certain things.
I do disagree with you on the gun issue. Back in the 70's my old man would pick up a baseball bat and come down stairs when we heard certain
noises at night. I do the same, but I carry the 12 gauge and know if i can
fire first, my family is going to be alright. The reality is this. Criminals have guns. There is no way around this. If the gov collected guns, they would come from the hands of people who had them registered. Criminals would now be the only ones with guns. Point being, there is no way around this.
Its a new world we live in. Go buy a 9. Take a gun safety class. Teach your wife how to shoot. If you have kids, you can buy guns that have locked triggers with a combination type lock on the handle. Just like a brief case lock. 4 number code to unlock the gun. Protect yourself partner.

you sound like someone who might live in Texas - i am just saying there is a reputation 😱

I nominate this Blog to the "WTF" catergory

I've been telling people for several years now that there is going to be a severe shortage of doctors in the coming decade, especially in primary care.

But never fear! The PAs and NPs will fill that role. Wther you like it or not, they are going to be the gate-keepers and controllers of medicine - people with no medical school, no residency, and often latent hostility to doctors.

Now that we've also trained them to be specialists, and are passing laws to allow them to practice independently, who do you think the PA/NP is going to send their patients to - the doctor with 20 years of experience, or their buddy that graduated from the same school as them?

so MM.....what did u do with your precious metals this week? When i heard some guy who knows some guy who's cousin's friend who knows a guy who works at a hedge fund partially for Soros sold all his PM's then i dumped it over a few days to keep some profits. Then i heard Carlos Slim dumped his too. Plus didnt Ben say there would be no QE3?

Is it just me or am I the only one that took facets' comments about "mexican gangs" to not refer to pablo and escobar stealing some ipads out of living rooms but something more like los zetas who would have no problem thinking a heavily protected home might be someone else involved with a competing cartel moving in on their territory?

I also enjoy how "the future of pain" developed into how to plan for the collapse of civilization
