I was too lazy to look up prior Harvard threads to see if this has been said. I talked to HMS today and just a heads up that the last interview invites will be sent tomorrow (Friday, Jan. 20). (Crossing fingers) Good luck everyone.

Nice...so I guess that means if I send a letter of withdrawl next week, I can reject them before they officially reject me! Ha! 😀 👍

what the heck? is today wednesday or thursday?

I don't think any amount of anatomical twisting is going to get me an interview, but I'll cross 'em for everyone who has a real shot!

saki, love the signature.

good luck to those waiting on HMS. on a related note, does anybody know when the last days for hopkins and cornell invites?

are harvard invites sent via email or usps?

I just asked a coworker the same question! It's Wednesday.

CarleneM, I am impressed with the interest in Cornell. I found them to be of the sucky variety, and a lot of the interviewees I met during my interview agreed with me. I can't believe they haven't invited you yet - as every other school seems to have! Good luck.

GL, who exactly is "of the sucky variety"? The school itself? The students? Adcom?

Yeah I've heard some negative things about Cornell as well but would still like to check it out. I'm a little surprised they haven't interviewed or rejected me since they have sent out a ton of both, it seems. At Hopkins, my app got lost for like a month so I'm not as surprised I haven't heard anything from them.

Oh I got my harvard invite on a sunday so don't be surprised if anyone gets a harvard invite this week at odd non 9-5 hours. :luck:

Good luck with Cornell! I'll be you get an invite soon. Question is, will you even bother visiting?

The students were lovely. The interviewers were a little rude to tell you the truth. One kept looking at his watch and appeared uterly disinterested. Maybe I wasn't being interesting. Still, I paid a huge sum of money to fly and for a hotel (since no student would respond to my endless e-mails for a host). There were also a lot of comparisons to Columbia, which made them look like an underdog with a huge chip on its shoulder. There was very little by way of an info session -except a short talk by the dean, who sounded - um, a little, um, off? This was all in the backdrop of construction druming and thundering throughout the day. I'm told it's a good school. I didn't quite get the feel from my visit. Plus one of the staff made an entirely inappropriate comment, which I couldn't resist pointing out to her. Mentioning it would cause me to be immediately identifiable.

But enough! This isn't about Cornell.

I've decided that all the schools who haven't invited me are sucky. Now, if they want to redeem themselves, (HMS, since this is your thread please take note), please oh please, pretty please with sugar on top, please invite me! I'll be oh, such a good student. And I know you don't want to be a sucky school. Be a cool school.

I guess I'm too weary of this process.

Sounds like there's a bunch of us waiting on Harvard, Cornell, and Hopkins. :luck: all!!

Oh Diana! You'll hear something good I'm sure. In the meantime, you haven't done badly at all!

Does anyone know whether Hopkins is still sending out interview invites. Or when they'll stop sending interview invites.

You can add me to that pile. I bet they all send out their rejections at the same time, so that our mailboxes are hit with a brick of depression. haha. just kidding. Actually, I bet they're just holding out, because we're so good they don't even feel the need to interview us! Either way, good luck to everyone!!

Just a quick note that I really meant Fri., Jan. 21 (sorry about the confusion)

Doh....I was hoping to be put out of my un-warranted state of suspense by tomorrow! But thanks for clarifying that PhotoMD!

I just called, and it is confirmed, the last shipment of Harvard interviews will be emailed tomorrow.

At least I will have some closure when I get nothing tomorrow.

When will they start reviewing files? I interviewed in October I'm sending out a letter of intent today...as if that will make any difference.

Good luck to everyone!! Hope you all get invites today/tomorrow!

Hahaha, my thoughts exactly. I appreciate ya'll letting us know this info, btw. What I don't understand is why they can't just send the rejections out to people they obviously know they won't interview (like myself) and get it over with.

Good luck everyone! Let's hope the email inboxes fill up with love!

I'm going to keep checking until midnight PST, just to be sure. That's 3 AM here on the east coast. So only 11.5 hours to go!

If I don't get invited for interview, I think I'll just "interview crash," you know, show up anyway, go into some random office and start telling my victim all about my life.

I just called them, and the guy said they will have the last invites emailed out by 5:00... so we'll see.

That's something that I would never do, but I'm so glad that you did and posted about it so I can know 😀

Still alive until 5...

not looking good 🙁

So is that it? It's after 5.

Can we officially call it quits with the big H now?

It'd be nice to get some closure.

yeah, i can now say that i am DEFINITELY NOT harvard material (altho i already knew it). besides, if we were to get an interview invitation today, i think our chances of getting in would be close to none

So, no one, not one of us received the invite? That's sad, but at least we're not alone.

Harvard Rejects, Class of 2009, UNITE!!! I am proud to be inducted into this very honorable class. I think they should send us a new version of that packet they sent us regarding the secondary application, and instead of the question "What it means to be a Harvard doctor" on the front, it can say "What it means to be a Harvard reject". 😀 😀

I am ready to join the club too! My first pre-interview rejection! Perhaps it will be my lucky day, and I will find a Stanford rejection letter waiting for me in the mailbox at home 🙂 I should really buy a lottery ticket today, with this good luck

Yeah, because Cornell sucks soooooooooooooooooo bad. I like how people diss on great schools like Cornell while there are many out there struggling to get into "inferior" medical schools. Be happy that you are in a position to get into such great schools.

You know, all I can say is that I know a woman attending Harvard right now, and there's no way in hell I'd ever want her as my physician. At least I don't have to spend 3 years around her. Let me be bitter and jaded, and also mention that I also don't have to be near Buffalo, NY (since I'm in Cali, Boston is a LOT closer), near the boy who happens to be an OB resident who broke my fricking heart.

Okay, keeping my fingers crossed for less expensive schools, like UCSF.....
😀

I raise my beer to my empty email box. 😎
