I am waiting for my school to upload my last clerkship grade onto my transcripts. It appears that may be after 9/15 unless something seridipitous happens. The grade I'm really wanting on there is an Honors grade in the specialty I'm applying to.

Should I wait to submit?

I read over the previous threads and according to Aprogamdirector the 9/15 deadline seemed to be more accurately that 1st week. Is that still true?

I thought transcripts were directly uploaded by our Dean's Offices, so they'll just upload it whenever they want. If that's the case, why would it matter when YOU submit your app?

Yeah, transcripts are uploaded by the dean's office, so whenever they decide to do that your grades will reflect what is finalized at that time. I would have to imagine though, that your school would not upload transcripts until at least all of third year grades had posted...

This is not unlike the dean's letter, which I believe school's do not do until October 1st (at least for my school that's the case). Thus the dean's letter is loaded after we submit ERAS, but that does not mean programs will not get our dean's letter. The determining factor is when programs download our applications.

Basically, there are multiple steps that can affect when a residency program gets our applications.

Have you talked to the Dean's Office? Tell them the situation, that you really would like the grade in before transcripts are loaded.

Check with your dean's office to figure out what the last clerkship grade on your official transcript will be. In my case, I was surprised to find out that it will be the clerkship ending in June, even though my July AI evaluation and grade is in.

Don't worry too much, since any grades (e.g. July, August coursework) that get posted before your transcript gets prepared for ERAS can be discussed in the dean's letter. So the school's should be aware of at least your July coursework and any prior coursework that randomly may not have been included in the school's official transcript.

Depends on the school. We finished third year way early in the year, but our Dean's letters only include courses we took in third year. Something about how it'd be difficult to make it standardized for everyone.

Thanks all.

I've been teasing my grades through their bureaucratic maze and it looks like I might have all but one if not all by 9/15. The dean's letter is a clever tip for getting around the absence of the grades, so I appreciate it.

Take care.

I haven't read the other replies, so I'm sorry if I'm repeating what someone already said.

I had the same exact problem, and all I did was shoot the administration an email and tell them that I'd appreciate it if they could get everything out before the 15th because I'd like to submit ASAP. They were cool about it. I didn't know who to email exactly, so I included everyone I could think of in the email. They uploaded the transcript like a couple days later with all my 3rd yr clerkships. I don't know if they did it because they were going to do it anyways, or because I emailed them, but it's in.
