This might seem like a stupid question, but in all the posts I've read about PBL, I haven't seen anyone really explain it to someone who has no idea what it is. I understand that students meet in groups and go over case studies, but are there textbooks? Do you read them on your own? LECOM-B offers full PBL. Any LECOM students care to share their experience? Was it better not having a ton of lectures to attend and lecture notes to go through?

This thread might help get you started. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=480471

If you search around, you'll find lots more.

In answer to your specific questions: textbooks, yes. Read on your own, yes. Better not having lectures, IMHO, yes, although it depends greatly on how you learn best.
