Hello!

I know that at my school, when the adcom decides whether or not to accept you, they weigh the pre req gpa as 50% of their decision, and then the other 50% weighed equally b/w application, lors, experience, cum gpa, interview and PCAT. But from what I've heard, that interview is wayyyyy more important then that in reality.

So lets say someone scores really well on everything....except they completely blow the interview...........do you think they would still have a chance?????

The reason the interview is important is b/c they get to actually put a face to the application. It is your way to show that you will be able to communicate with others. Don't be nervous, staying calm and collected will enable you to answer the questions and show them that you are confident but not arrogant. If you just be yourself, you'll do fine. Remember, when you become a RPh, you will have to be able to counsel patients, so you shouldn't be nervous when talking to people you haven't met before. A lot of schools offer mock interviews that can help you prepare. Hope this helps 🙂

So that means the interview is really much more important than they claim!?

yes. it is something def you DO NOT want to screw up.

IMO, it's a deal-breaker. A great iv may not necessarily get you in, but if you bomb it, it'll probably keep you out.

It's like dating, there are just some deal-breakers. For example, if during a date, numerous guys hug your date and depart by saying, "call me". That's a deal-breaker.

No. To me, interviews are one of the most important parts of the application cycle. It's one way that adcoms can see who you are and how serious you are about becoming a pharmacist. Representatives from several schools have told me that interviews can make or break an applicant. What I find disturbing are the schools that do not interview or interview only a select amount of applicants. How can you really know someone or their intentions and knowledge based solely on paperwork?

Okay, now I'm scared. I'm good with people and everything, but I just get really, really nervous at interviews..... :scared:

How you overcome the nervousness is to prep like hell. When you're properly prepared the answers just sorta flow out and you don't have time to think about how nervous you are. Come interview time, this board is filled with all kinds of questions and tips to prep for your iv's.

Anybody else have any dating deal-breakers?

Yah that's what I was thinking too. Maybe a little bit of nervousness will come through but that might just show them that I really care about getting in (or else I wouldnt be so nervous).
Answering the questions right is probably more important to them.....I hope.
