trying to decide whether or not i should stay awake or go to sleep. anyone awake

I'm awake. Sitting here working my very last night as a tech in the Surgical Trauma ICU! Taking the rest of the summer off to go to the beach as much as possible and play with my puppy before I start med school. 7am can't get here soon enough...

I has a motivation :soexcited: 8 hours until physics exam i'm going to murder, 38 hours until a Physiology exam i'm nowhere near ready for. sippin on that rockstar because i've come so far in two years and i will not stop right before my apps are evaluated

Kick em in the balls buddy.

Well, I would agree that it is sad those inmates made such poor choices and innocent people suffered the consequences.

Yes, theWuBear, go get 'em!

How is everybody doing?

I am watching a spider ran back and forth on the wall in front of my desk. I'd like to kill it but then I'd have to clean up the mess. :meanie:

You and I are in agrement there. But I meant why would you read those, not why it is sad.

Yup. I've done that before. Sometimes I can be that lazy.

I am in ultimate inspired and motivated mode. There are so many things I want to say about the path I've taken over the last two years, the turnaround I made, but I'm saving every inspirational sentence for the post/manifesto I write the day I get accepted. Lets do this

I'm pulling for you, buddy, because that's gonna be me in a couple of years when I do a post-bacc.

I was invited in...Holllla@

That never stopped me:meanie: I'm a spider skilling machine 🙁

It's never too early or too late to turn things around. Thanks for the support - we can do this

Exactomundo. That's what I am doing with my physics I course that I'm taking this summer. That's what I plan to keep doing every semester until I start med school.

Here's a song for WUbear and anyone else wanting some epically inspirational music:

I hate spiders. 🙁 I have to get people to kill them for me because I'm too afraid to do it myself. Those and brown moths are my biggest fears.

I don't like spiders, either, and the really large ones freak me out a little. I usually kill them, though, 'cause it's better than worrying about them running around while I am sleeping.

I am not very fond of bees/wasps/hornets but most other insects don't bother me that much. Moths are okay, though best outside. 🙂

@the WuBear, I'll be waiting to read your acceptance post.

Greetings Yoda. Are you in your clinical years yet?

Almost. I take step I next week, and then start clinicals (ob/gyn) on July 4th.

Best of luck, and congrats on finishing another part of the journey

I'm off to 😴 (or try to, anyway) because some fools decided to torture me in my last months at work by adding fasting lab work to the protocol of our research study that has to be drawn early. I have to get up early tomorrow. 🙁

You have to start with ob/gyn? Yikes! I think ob/gyn will freak me out more than spiders and centipedes... and I am a female.

Good luck on Step I.:luck:
Heh, oh/gyn... It almost sounds good on paper, "oh neat! I will be looking at vaginas!" But you just know that for every dozen of good, there will be the same or more amount that will make you go "do you even look down ther?!"

As a heterosexual woman I am not very excited about this.

I picked to start with it since it's something I'm 100% sure I don't want to go into.

I am absolutely sure I don't want to do it, either. But I dunno, I think I would want at least one rotation before it. As a woman, I can tell you that a pelvic exam is the most intimate interaction you can have with a medical provider. I'm sure everyone is nervous at first about this but I don't want to start with this as a student! I'm from psych where we don't touch patients!

Thanks🙂

ob/gyn can get dirty, especially when women want to eat a snack before birth because of their hormones building up.

Sounds like this will be a very interesting rotation. :barf:

Another late night studying organic chemistry reactions while working...big test tomorrow AM and for me on no sleep... I'll be at 29 hours awake if I make it to the end of class tomorrow.

aw man, that sucks 🙁

To add to that, I give girl-advice to my best friend from high school who I've liked for seven years 😡 ...he knows i like (he thinks liked) him too.

🙁 well he's an idiot for not asking you out!

I have conveniently solved this problem, kautionwirez. I don't have an SO. Sometimes it gets lonely but I also realize it puts me in a great position to start med school with no distractions.

I'm torn with this. I've dated men who aren't in medicine and didn't feel the need to be together 24/7. They just had other Issues(TM).

I agree, if I didn't have a spouse, I would consider a spouse who is a physician. And I know how much time I will have to put in medicine (especially specialties I am interested in). 🙁

But I do love my spouse who has been with me every step of the way. And she has been a pain/nuisance at times... (My gut feeling thinks I could have done better on the MCAT by 3+ points). 😱

Wise men say "only fools fall in love". Guess I'm a fool. 😳

Anyone on the same boat? 😕

Well hopefully you'll be able to strike a balance with work/play, with or without your SO.

it's been over 2 weeks having applied and all I can think about is this gross grammar mistake I made on AMCAS, and whether I should go through with spending ~5K applying to 40 schools or not.

Etorphine,

One grammar mistake on your app isn't going to make a difference. Check through old threads - there are plenty of people who had mistakes and got accepted. With computers stuff happens and adcoms know that, too.
