yeah the evo x is Merc money, but the cost of maintaining the Merc will be insane. espeically after the warranty runs out.

But an EVO X turns into a money pit also. I drive a 350z. Trust me, i didn't intend on doing anything to it but a carbon fiber lip here, a rear diffuser there, intake, planned rims, etc, etc. and I'm down an extra 2k+ with more stuff I want to do. Mod bugs and the quest for more power bites HARD. It would be even worse if I drove an EVO that had a turbo in it already :meanie:

I'm not the only one either, the least mod happy person I would have ever guessed bought an STi. 2 years later he had to get rid of it because he had already dropped 8k into it and he just wanted to do more.

I'll stick with my prius, even if it does have 160K miles on it.

T minus 3 days till turkey! Bring on the tryptophan!

I'm leaving in 12 hours for Michigan and cannot sleep.... i guess that's what I get for falling asleep on the couch this afternoon.

👍 Prius, you save the environment and balance me out  I plan on running my car until it dies. Its paid off so I can go without a car payment while I'm in school.

I really wanted a 370z but no back seat and the fact that I might end up with rotations in snowy places is holding me back. which leaves me with evo or fjcruiser that are 4x4.

That's what i'm plannin on doing. With as many miles as it has on it, it's starting to show it's age. It's a 1st gen (2004) but we've also driven it across the country like...20 times. I really want a new car but I think I can get like 2 more years outta this one. it was a combo xmas, graduation and birthday present from my dad (my first car was a POS Kia Spectra). It was actualy a hand-me-down. Dad wanted a new car, so I got the prius. But I love it! 😍45-50 mpg, yes please! 😀

Ya no back seat is pretty rough but it gets you out of using your car for roadtrips haha. I'm going to school in Arizona in all likelihood so the snow is a non-issue for me. I love my car though.

I've only got 45k on my Z and its a 2004. Figure if I treat it right I can get through med school easily with it and probably into residency. Ride it till it dies or I can afford a GTR :meanie:

W00t! Just got my shift tomorrow night covered so I can go to Chargers-Broncos Monday Night Football! Go Bolts!

I want Peyton Manning to go to Vikings to replace Farve! that would be epic!

I want Peyton Manning to go to Vikings to replace Farve! that would be epic!

 epic indeed but will never happen. If the Vikings are lucky they'll lose out, get the first pick and draft Luck from Stanford. Dude is easily the most NFL ready QB in the draft and would give them a solid QB for a while. Unlucky for them, every single bad team this year needs a QB in a bad way except for the Lions, unless Carolina thinks Clausen is the real deal. There is a HUGE gap between the talent/readiness of Luck vs. Locker (#2 prospect)

Honestly though, as long as Farve retires I will be happy. I have a lot of respect for the man and he's an amazing quarterback, but I think its time to move on.

Yeah. I like Farve, but I think everyone is tired of his I'm retired/I'm not retired off-season routine.

Snowed in, which means I have a 6 day weekend, so I'm being lazy. Watching 16 and pregnant, chowing on BBQ chips and downing root beer. 😀

How about you wolverine?

Who knew being around family could be so exhausting. Given, I have 3 aunts and 2 uncles and my mom, gramma, grandpa etc all in the house plus a plethora of cousins but it's not even midnight and I'm pooped.

going to spend all day tomorrow baking and get my hair done for Thanksgiving (My aunt's a hair dresser 😀)

40 hours till turkey

That's why we are going to a lodge to hide.

I'm having thanksgiving with just my immediate family (5 people). Should be peaceful.

Same here, so it shouldn't be too horrible. I've never had a huge Thanksgiving, but I imagine it could get very irritating...At least with my family it could

Oh man I love snow, too bad we don't have any here in socal! I'm at work hoping for something exciting to come through the door

Lol, I have a limit of one extended family meet up/year/side of family and every year it's my least favorite day of the year.

We're supposed to get snow at the end of the week.😀

The snow is horrible. 🙁 We had a decent size storm. It took me about 9 hours to get home yesterday. Plus I almost hit someone due to my faulty ABS, almost got hit twice by people sliding, and almost drove off a cliff when trying to get home. I hate the snow. lol

I hate the snow, too. We don't have any snow here is southwestern PA yet. In fact, it was about 65 degrees this afternoon. I wish it could be like this all through winter. It's perfect. 🙂

what car do you drive?

camero. I'm not really big into sports cars or cars in general, but the mini is too small and i don't want an suv. Plus, the new camero looks pretty sweet.

In reality i'm probably going to continue buying used honda/toyota sedans for the rest of my life.

+1

ew sedans  I've only had 2 cars in my life. My first car was a 1985.5 porsche 944. My second car that i've now had for 6 years is a 2004 350z. I couldn't imagine driving anything automatic or anything with 4 doors, just doesn't fit me.

Then again that will change when I have kids and a family I'm sure.

I'll take a DeLorean DMC-12 with functional Back to the Future equipment

Yeah, I'm pretty set on getting a 4x4 FJ cruiser in Manual tranny since medschool will be in Missouri and rotations will most likely endup in Ohio/MI.

The Evo is pushing my budget a bit at 33K, I'd rather start medschool without a car payment, and the insurance on the evo will be monsterous! although I'm pretty sure if I test drive the evo i'll want it for sure so I'm trying to avoid that also.

Fair enough. I'm sure you could get a used Evo that would be just as fun to drive though for cheaper than 33k 😉 Just sayin lol

considering that whatever car I buy will be a car thats gonna have to last me through medschool and residency, I wouldn't trust a used car especially a used turbo car. if i end up not getting the evo, i would totally buy the GTR after all the loans are paid back.

Fair enough. I feel like by the time we finish school/residency the GTR will be outdated though  Doesn't mean I won't still want one, I'll just want whatever the newest one is. I could also totally go for a Tesla as a weekend car 😎

I figured by then the GTR will be doing 0-60 in less than 2 seconds :scared:. Evo XIII will be out, and BMW M3 will have 600+ HP!

😱 it'd have to accelerate at like 1.4g to do that lol I can't imagine pulling that hard in a car in straight line speed. You'd be pinned to your seat for sure.

Well the Lambo Sesto is doing 0-60 in 2.5 seconds apperantly, so in 10 years or so I wouldn't doubt one of those companies to push beyond the 2 second mark.

:scared: I think the Bugatti Veyron pulled 2.6 and F1 cars are between 1.9-2.5

The biggest issue of getting that kind of acceleration is getting the power to the ground and maintaining traction.

Same here, I just got my current car and I'm driving it until the wheels fall off.

Had mine 6 years already but hopefully it will hold up at least another 6 👍 Don't intend on driving too much during MS1-2 except maybe making the 400 mile trip home a couple times a year.

Oh i just remembered what i wanted to ask you! How much do you pay for insurance for your 350z?

Just over $70 a month. I get like 1/2 off due to discounts though. Good student, 10 year member (dunno how since I've only had a license 8 years), good driver, etc. I've got USAA and pretty minimal insurance at the moment w/ a $500 comprehensive and $500 collision deductible.

yeah I hear when you put down you're a medstudent they give a good sized discount, wait so its not full coverage?

It is definitely full coverage. I haven't put down med student yet, I'll have to look into that for next year haha Not to mention my insurance will decrease even more next November if thats the case (med student, 25 years old wooooo lol)

Its just things like Bodily injury coverage is 15/30k vs. 100/200k and things like that.

 I drove my last car for ten years. The wheels were still on but the head gaskets blew. That's when I bought a new car in September (which I mentioned on this thread at the time).

I'd love to buy a manual (cheaper to buy, cheaper to fix, makes you a "real driver") but I never learned how to drive a car with one. 🙁 So, for now I have to stick to the automatic "slushboxes."

I never saw myself in anything with four doors but the new car (a Kia Soul) has them. I had to sellout my soul because they aren't many cars with character in my price range. 😛

2001 Chevy S-10 2WD Pick-up. It's a baby.

Bah. It's pouring rain here and I really should be asleep. gotta bake all day tomorrow. and somehow my grandmother talked my mom into staying another day so I guess at least I don't have to drive an hour tomorrow morning to the airport (why my mom decided it was best to leave on thanksgiving, I have no idea).

In the meantime: House marathon To:-D day was an interesting day. Family was around all day, got my hair done, baked a pumpkin cheesecake and carrot cake and spent 3 hours trying to check my email. The weather is causing the internet to be all wonky. Finally got on ti see a secondary invite from UCSF (took um long enough! but I shouldn't complain, they screen pretty heavily for secondaries)

Ya'll make me want to get a new car. Mine's only 6 years old but has 160K miles on it and is really starting to show the milage. If only I had the money.....

Hello Late Nighters, :hardy:

How was everybody's Turkey Day? Is everyone sleeping off the tryptophan?

If I am still up at 4 AM I might go out for a bit and see what early morning Black Friday is like. I have never actually done the Black Friday early bird thing.

I've actually been considering doing it this year. I would pull an all-nighter, but I nanny tomorrow at 11.

Thanksgiving was pretty good, though.
