Thats how many interviews the guy next to you has had. HAHA what a bunch of bologna. I guarantee you that there was some guy somewhere that once had 8 interviews and then he told someone who did not. That is where the legend was born and now everyone has 8 interviews for dental schools. Good luck everyone.

I kid that goes to my school has had 5 and he took his DAT the end of August. He got into pharm school last year but never went so it was funny talking to him about it. He was talking to me about his temple interview and thought he completely misinterpreted the essay question but the guy told him it really doesn't matter lol.

2th doc isn't it surprising that so many people have 8 interviews this cycle?!?

I don't get the point of this thread. What's wrong with 8 interviews..

The number is relative...

Depends on how many schools people applied to. If someone applied to a lot of schools, they might have a lot. If someone applied to less than 10 schools, that may be a different story. How early you applied might also play a factor...

8 interviews are expensive anyways.

As long as you like the schools you get interviews at, that's all that matters 🙂 Some people might not even want to go to these schools despite the interview...

I have 7 interviews. so i dunno why its impossible to have 8 or more. if you apply to 20+ schools and you have good stats. its def possible.

I applied to too many schools, but I applied before I took my DAT. I had already sent all the fees in so there was no point in withdrawing. I just scheduled some interviews for January and plan on (hopefully) withdrawing from then in December.

yeah this thread is interesting...but i think ppl get caught in the hype and hoopla on this site and think they need to apply an excessive amount of schools...as a result they get a bunch of interviews. There was someone at my last interview who had like 9 or 10 but i didn't feel threatened or upset. As long as I get in I'll be happy.

Lol, well my state of residence is Illinois and I'm not interested in going to SIU. I like UIC, but its so expensive and tuition will rise every year. I think it's the most expensive in-state school right now. So I'm keeping my options open. Some schools I can apply for residency after one year and get in-state tuition, which would be a lot cheaper than UIC. And the state has absolutely no money, which means 0 chance of getting even a really small scholarship.

i know man im kidding. im just jealous. but as Ali G says RESPEK! thats an honorable place to get an interview. Great school (im from the east coast and although Stony is in the middle of nowhere, its a great school nonetheless)

Yea I'm really excited about. I applied because a friend of mine told me to (stupid reason). I know its a great school, but didn't find out how many OSS they interview/accept until after I applied. Definitely wouldn't have if I had known.

For saying haters gonna hate, theres a lot of hating going on in this thread towards me even saying that statement.....first it was a joke, I am not hating on anyone, I am just commenting on every person that I talk to at an interview that they magically have 8 interviews, a lot of people lie in those interviews to get other people discouraged, that was the main point I was going to discuss but I forgot that SDN is full of over achievers and most of you do have more than 8 interviews already, my bad go about your day

And many lie on SDN.

I have 8 pre Dec interviews. But they are A. expensive and B. taking hard enough of a toll on my classes that I am now seriously concerned about getting an acceptence rescinded.

That's a good problem to have. Most would do some shameful things to be in your shoes.

I actually have 8 interviews (check my pre-dents!)...I don't get why this is such a big deal. Some people at interviews will only have 1 interview, some will have 8. There is a whole spectrum of cases.

I don't see much value in doubting the number of interviews others have... Regardless of whether or not they are lying, they are still at the interview there with you. If you have enough interviews to feel comfortable with, then good. If your neighbor has a few more, then good for them! Why can't we just be supportive of one another and say congrats to those who are doing well? Just my $0.02. 👍

It's a reality that some people have 8 interview. Just because u met a couple of people with that many interviews doesn't mean everyone is in the same position.

It's just like the misconception that people believe everyone has scores of 21+ on their DAT. 21+ percentile is like what? 95 percentile? That means only about 5% of test takers have that score or higher.

Hmm. I wish this was possible, but you also have to realize that it's harder to congratulate your successful neighbor if your not successful yourself. I'm not a gunner at all and I'm really supportive of people's accomplishments, but I don't know if I would be the same way if I wasn't at least somewhat successful.

If your the best, what do you have to be jealous of? Get what I'm saying? (BTW I'm not saying I'm the best, I'm just trying to get a point across using an extreme example).

I think everyone should be proud of their achievements and live in their own circumstances. Not everyone could chain themselves to a desk and study to get a 25 on the DAT or get a 3.9 in school. Some people had to really bust their as* just to get lower marks than that. Just be happy you are in any position at all to be considered for dental school.

As someone who applied to only seven schools-- I too find the prospect of receiving eight interviews impossible, myself. 🙂

I agree with you that it is easier said than done... However, if you have an interview, you are doing something right, so be proud of yourself! The other people you are interviewing with just might be your classmates, so be proud of them too! I know this fairly idealistic, but its how I feel lol. For some reason, when I am interviewing, I don't see those around me as my competition - they are my potential classmates, so I want to get to know them and wish them goodluck. Maybe I'm just weird lol

That too 👍
