to all who plan to take the MCAT either in a week or anytime in the future,

to make a long story short, i took the MCAT in April of 02. i studied my ass off, i really focued on reviewing the actual science, spent a lot of time doing passages and practice tests (TPR materials). I thought i was money for that exam. even on test day I thought i aced it. then i got a 26 in the mail (998S). i was crushed.

this time around. I am studing 100% less, doing NO TPR materials. I am going out and getting drunk as hell with my friends whenever i want, basically, having a great life and not letting the MCAT get to me. the thing that i am doing is taking teh AAMC exams under actual conditions. my score so far

Exam PS V BS

III 10 10 9
IV 10 11 11
V 10 11 11

still have to take VI. this exam is all about learning how to take the actual test, not the tests TPR gives you or the passages Kaplan gives you...you just need to zero in on what they want. my advice, dont study, it is not worth your time. just use AAMC and use those to focus on learning what you NEED to know.

I've heard something very similar to this before. The MCAT is not really about how much you know but how good you can manuver your way thru their twisted questions...basically you need to learn how to take the test instead of wasting time and learning the material.

Which is sorta true. In 2001 I studied my butt off and I made sure I knew every last scientific fact/formula. It didn't really help much. This time I am confident and I got the hang of the way they ask their questions (couple that with the knowledge that I have reviewed)...I think I should be fine.
My girlfriend took the exam and she got 9 points higher than me, this is the chick who claimed she knew nothing and was getting bad scores on her practice exams.

I still am studying though because you do need to know "something" to get thru the exam.
