The need for two forums

I agree! I am a P1 and I rarely ever write on these boards because everytime I come on here, I never see anything that interests me. It's always topics that are directed more towards pre-pharms. I think it would be a better atmosphere on the boards if there were two different forums. I think it would be easier for the pre-pharms also. Cause it was just last year when I was on the other side. To be able to go to a forum where you know the topics are tailored towards your interests. Instead of having one of your questions/topics get lost in a sea of threads. I know when I was going through the admissions process, I spent a great deal of time PMing and chatting with other pre-pharms who were in the same position as me.
I am all for the 2 thread concept. I think it is a great idea!

Me too. I have some interesting topics that I don't really feel like posting in between 9 "Will I get into Florida" threads. For instance, I had a pt tell me that he broke out in a rash after taking Bextra. He has no sulfa/aspirin allergy. The kicker? His doc told him to take 6 (six) 20mg tablets daily. What is the deal with that? (I did not fill it, it was filled elsewhere).chitowngyrl said:

I also think it is time that we create separate forums. When the idea was first proposed sometime back I was a bit skeptical about whether or not we got enough posts to warrant a new forum, but it seems like in the past there was a better balance between pre-pharm and pharmacy topics. It definitely seems like now the pre-pharm topics dominate the forum.
It would be great to have a separate area where topics relevant to current pharmacy students/graduates could be discussed without being lost in the abundance of other posts.

Having to go past page 1 to find the 5 most recent posts relevant to anyone but pre-pharms is definitely getting to be a turn-off.

yea, lay off us pre-pharms. It's application season 😀 I'm sure the action will die off in the spring.

Even Pre-pharms can only read the same thing so many times. I am sure there are a ton of questions that people have, but seeing the same ones over and over and over again does get a bit old.

Seriously, though, we need to have a little popup blurb that people have to acknowledge prior to making their first new thread. It should explain briefly how to use the search feature and that etiquette dictates replying to an existing thread instead of generating a new one on the same topic.
Or, can we make it so to post in the forum you have to join the pharmacy user group and acknowledge that you will attempt to find answers by search and FAQ prior to generating a new thread.
We are not going to give people a good impression of SDN if all the current pharmacy students are cranky. So, let's explore solutions, whether it be separate forums, automated administrative prompting, etc.
With the advent of a new admission cycle, deferring action until later will put alot of strain on the relationships between pre-pharms and the current practitioners and students. Brill, thank you for offering to ask Lee to revisit this issue.
