the new and improved 2010 Acceptance and Waitlist Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
sjust so you know... I put in that I was not attacking you, I was just frustrated with what that other person wrote and was criticizing him, not you. I hold my judgments to that sometimes yes I think that when you post frequently the number of interviews etc you have that it is a bit much... especially because it might be misleading relative to applicants of clinical psych phd programs... otherwise my qualm was not with you

Cheers

That's unfair. YOU'VE posted REPEATEDLY about YOUR interviews and acceptances, more so than I.

Pot, kettle black, much?

I've gotten rejected, waitlisted, and accepted. I've posted about them all. How is giving the numbers arrogant? I posted about my rejections, for Gd's sake--something that I've not seen you do, AJ. I've congratulated others on their acceptances. I don't get it--I really, really don't get it.

Has anyone has gotten accepted or waitlisted for Colorado State's counseling psych PhD program? There was one person who posted quite some time ago (maybe a month ago?) about an acceptance, and several people have posted, both here and on GradCafe, about receiving rejections. I've heard nothing at all. Could mean I'm waitlisted, could mean something got lost in the mail, could mean anything, really... still, the echoing silence is a bit stressful. Another data point or two would be much appreciated!

Have you considered emailing/calling the department to ask?

Good luck! :luck:

Don't let the QQing get to you

Has anyone heard from Louisiana Tech post-interview? Its only been 2 weeks, but I'm starting to get anxious. Checking my email, mail, and phone like its my job! :scared:

I haven't heard anything from them either. They said it would take a max of two weeks, so yea, I am getting a little worried too. Hopefully we will hear tomorrow. :xf:

lol 👍 k I would love to see you prove that one... gl

Hey, here's an idea...maybe you two should pick a time, pick a place, sell some tickets and then fight about it. Otherwise, quit b*tching like 2 little kids.

0 acceptances for me after three years of applying. Started 10 years ago! I'm wondering if I should leave the field myself. I really hope this works out for you cause I know how you feel.

Thanks for the support. At this point, there can't be too many people crossing their fingers for me. 🙂 I hope things work out for you too, whether or not you decide to take a different path. I am thankful that at least I have a job!

Hi,

I just got an email saying that I am waitlisted.

Best of luck to all!

Can't we all just get along?!?!

Can whoever got the UNR acceptance please PM me your POI. I am begging you.

Question!

Did anyone else receive the random email from Columbia TC (clinical PhD) today asking you to submit a scholarship application? I did not get an interview there but also have not received a rejection email that I believe other people started getting. I'm obviously not going to waste time working on the application if I'm not even in the running... any thoughts?

Never mind... must walk away.

Last year, everyone who applied received that email, including those who were rejected... which seems unnecessarily cruel to me.

CONGRATS on your acceptance, BTW! 🙂

I think we are all a little stressed out. We are either waiting to hear from schools, have heard and are nervous about attending the institution or aren't sure where to go. This can lead to the discussions we have had over futerapps post but it isn't necessary. Can anyone remember how helpful she was by posting all the interview dates for us? She put a lot of hard work into that and she had no true reward. I don't think it is right for us to comment about her post. I'm sure it did hurt a couple of people's feelings but just knowing her through the posts and choosing to do the interview thread I know that wasn't her true intention. A lot of people have been asking her about her outcome and she was nice enough to post. I'm sorry that you were attacked.

Can we just go back to what the board was meant for? listing our acceptances and feeling a true camaraderie among those that are going through this grueling process together. Remember we are all hear to help one another because we truly know what it feels like to go through this nail biting experience.

i got the same e-mail having not been invited to an interview, i just assumed the admissions department sends the same e-mail to everyone. actually, admissions there seems particularly divorced from the department, so i would not be surprised

Yes, that may be my next step. I did a search for "Colorado State" in this year's threads first, though, and it looked like several people had applied there, so I thought maybe I could get more info without bugging the department. 😳

Hi all-

anyone from the KC area care to sell me on why I should move to Kansas City other than for the great bbq (I'm from Texas so my standards are high). I'm debating between that and Baltimore (I currently live in DC, as my name suggests) and POIs at both are great. Just hoping to get some opinions of people who live in KC (or Baltimore) or those of people that have been to both and see if there were pros and cons to each city. Relocating is not an issue, and funding is evenly matched considering COL. Match is too close to call. I've never been to KC but will be going in two weeks. Any thoughts on each, especially from those that can compare both, would be incredibly helpful. Thanks.

ps. if anyone has any general questions about DC - where to live, etc... feel free to PM me. I saw that a few folks have gotten offers from local schools.

As a Baltimore native who got out at her first chance, I ask - don't you want to get away from the traffic???? I'm moving to Lincoln which is a few hours north from KC but one big selling point was the lack of road crowding. It may be a different story for KC, though...

plus KC has really really good BBQ, Im going through there on my summer road trip for the Rib fest!

Just heard from Louisiana Tech. Waitlisted. :/ (for counseling)

The best KC BBQ is at the BBQ Cook Off, though there are still plenty of good "local" places to get meat for the other 51 weeks of the year. 😉 Arthur Bryant's is a good choice, many like it better than Gate's, though many swear by Oklahoma Joe's....where you can also fill up your car with gas. Seriously. Oh, and burnt tips is the way to go.

Me too.

Let's look on the bright side, there is still hope. I loved this program, the faculty, the current students, the environment... I just loved it all. I would go here in a heartbeat. For a few minutes I was a little dejected, but at least it wasn't a rejection.

I hear it's a touch sweeter than Texas BBQ, but I've never had it. It's been a while since I've thrown some ribs on the pit. You guys are selling me on the KC move. I'll make sure I try one of those places during my visit in a few weeks.

I don't have a car here in DC but would need one in B'more. Just driving to B'more for interview and a few times to the airport I felt like I couldn't stand the traffic (worse than Houston, and that's hard to beat). And considering my dollar will go further in KC and I'd have to adjust from living comfortably in DC on a full-time job to stipend living, looks like I might be headed to the MidWest. Thanks for the tips everyone. 😀

When is the cook off?
Sept 30th-Oct 3rd, 2010.

http://kansascity.about.com/od/annualevents/p/AmRoyalBBQ.htm

Each competing team gets a space and cooks all weekend. It starts Friday afternoon and goes through Sunday. Friday is the best day to go because teams are "warming up" their BBQs, so they invite friends/family to their tents for a BBQ. A lot of tents have live music and other stuff. They have an inside and outside area, though my recommendation is to stay outside and mingle with the locals. They usually have an area for live bands, a disco tent, and other random things. I was a guest at one of the private tents which I highly recommend (mingle with the locals!). I know it is probably too late if you are traveling for grad school, but anyone who lives in the surrounding states typically make the drive up.

I think KC is a great small/medium-sized Midwestern city. Once I got over my East-coast bias, I really found myself enjoying the people/culture....oh, and the food. 😀

If you were told that everyone would hear either way within the next two weeks and it has been two weeks, is it okay to email? I also have read that some offers were made at the beginning of last week.

oh - I forgot to add the slack you catch for being from/having lived in Baltimore. When I moved to Charleston, everyone was appalled to hear that I came from that dreaded city where every street is as dangerous as portrayed in HBO's "The Wire". Although, that might be a pro if you are attracted to the hardened reputation it will give you...

One of the programs I interviewed at said it would be 2 weeks, and now it has been 3- I e-mailed the DCT this morning. I kept thinking that maybe they sent out letters and it might take awhile to get here, but a whole week is more than the time it takes for a letter to arrive. I don't think it's a bad idea, so long as it's polite. They must know how anxiety-provoking it is to not hear anything, right?? 🙂

I totally disagree with this. Futureapppsy2 was just responding to a bunch of people who asked how many acceptances she got. I don't think she's rubbing it anyone's face.

Invite received this morning via mass email for Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Oregon. (clinical Psy.d)

Thanks. I still can't decide if I would be an annoyance.

Receieved offer from Idaho State for their clinical PhD program via email today

Ok hmm well I haven't heard yet and since no one else has posted about it I'm hoping that they haven't started calling but will start making calls today! Good luck :xf::xf::luck::luck::luck:

Re: LIU Brooklyn PhD

In the information packet they handed out at interviews, they said they'd be sending out a letter via snailmail that would reach us in the last weeks of March, but definitely by April 1st.

Someone already received an acceptance. They made decisions Wednesday and they were called that day. Last year they called the day they made decisions and the day after which would have been wednesday and thursday. The official letter follows. But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they didn't finish yet.

Still no word for me either 🙁 Pretty please if anyone else besides the lone poster has received an acceptance or waitlist to LIU Brooklyn PM me!

I just called psychology department at LIU Brooklyn. All they said was the admissions committee is in the process of making decisions.

my friend is still waiting to hear and i got accepted by phone last night. only one other person posted here that they got a phone call. anyone else???? i just want to know if my friend still has a chance......maybe they are calling over multiple days.....?

My friend and I are currently commiserating in our limbo. We both go to Pepperdine, and I know of two other people who have gotten acceptances so far, in addition to the two of you on here. I literally did not sleep last night waiting for that call. The person you interviewed with is supposed to make the call, and I know my prof. was teaching all night yesterday, so I'm holding out hope. I think there is definitely still a chance since out of the many people I know who have applied, only two have heard. I'll keep you posted on this board.

Good luck. I do hope you hear soon. :luck:

As a student at Pepperdine, maybe you could answer this for me: I spoke to a former student of the PsyD program, and she said that one thing that surprised her was that about half of the incoming class came out of the MA program there. Is that accurate? Is there a divide between students that are accepted from the MA program and students that aren't?
