Maybe you do have interviews and just want to see people who don't have them complain?

I'm with you. 3rd time applying.

Finished my UMDNJ masters with a 3.6, 20 AA, 21 TS, with a very subpar undergrad GPA. 5 years dental assistant, long list of extracurricular activities. Nothing so far. Submitted 3rd batch. 🙁.

I feel you. You have great stats. 5 years dental assistant is impressive. Hope for the best! I am sure you will get interviews. What schools did you apply to?

Honestly, I think this should be a better week for us! I'm going to keep telling myself that it's rather early in the process. I'm first batch, and I've got nothing yet D: D: D: D: D: D: (i could type this face a thousand more times, but i'll stop here)

We already know that there's no point in stressing over what's out of our control, but it's certainly difficult to practice what you preach. Strangely, sifting through SDN's craziness has a way of making me feel a little better about the situation, like I have some kind of control in all this, when I most certainly do not. haha

Oooo, we have very similiar stats. 3.2 ogpa and 3.3 science, 26 DAT.

Agreed 🙂 Everyone tells me not to worry too much about the GPA.. The adjustment period in college tends to do that, and it's not an uncommon problem at all.

I prefer a high DAT over a high GPA. I have the opposite (high GPA, average DAT).

4.0 cGPa, 4.0 bcp (19/30 credits at masters)
21 AA / 20 TS - second time applying, second batch.
Shadowed 3 different dentists (one includes my dad).
MCAT/DAT/OAT/PCAT teacher for Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions.
Research experience in metazoan embryology.
First year resident advisor, cell and molecular bio lab coordinator, vice president of fraternity, student council rep, volunteer in emergency room, among other church related ec's.
Torn cartilage in my knee.
Broke up with my girlfriend of 2.5 years (my choice, but still difficult to deal with).
Lots of alcohol, and no interviews.

WOWOWOWOWOW does that feel better.

How about the people that took the DAT in early/mid August and don't have interviews because the schools still don't have the scores. I feel like I'm done for. The ADA should really implement a "rush scores" surcharge. They'd make a ton of money if you could pay something like 50 bucks to have your scores uploaded the same week you take your DAT.

i applied with 3.2-3.3 gpa (overall, science, bcp), average DAT 20/19/19 (AA/TS/PAT) and applied to..... 19 SCHOOLS!
...... with 0% responses/interviews and 100% sadness

right now, im thinking about applying to some extra schools...

what do you guys think ? Is it worth adding extra schools at this time? It is kind of late in the cycle....
Or should I just wait patiently and post my grievances here.....

Omg GPA doesn't matter for dental school as long its around 3.4 and you have a high DAT. I wish I had spent less time working that GPA and spent more time in DAT.

ughhhh I'm in the same boat... so frustrating that my scores won't even be uploaded for another week... I've been praying that maybe I would get an invite from 1 of the 7 schools that I was allowed to send my unofficial score report too but all that I've received was confirmation emails that they had received my score sheet grrr

Applied to all CA schools except Loma Linda. UNLV, ASDOH and the Midwestern ones. Also applied to a bunch of east coast schools as well.

I got the big goose egg for interviews but then again, my application hasnt been mailed out yet. I have about 3 interviews coming my way, I hope, but they are waiting on my application...and getting this application out is driving me crazy! Should go out this Friday. As for stats, DAT 18 AA, 2.8 sGPA, 2nd time applicant.

I'm gonna recommend you guys some really fantastic shows to watch to kill time. This is EARLY EARLY EARLY still. Many schools haven't even gotten to sorting out their applicant files yet!

1) Game of Thrones
-Terribly addictive for those with a thing for British accents and Camelot, chivalry, knights n kings kinda stuff. Lots of seks and violence. Watch at your discretion.

2) Breaking Bad
-A high school chem teacher turned into a ruthless drug lord. Made me appreciate O chem for once. Also quite violent at times. Can't look at sudafed the same way anymore.

3) Criminal Minds
-Prob one of my all time favorites. Team of FBI agents catching serial killers. A must see for all you psych majors out there.

Oh well back to a mixture of job, good music and video games. I personally recommend Ninja Gaiden Black or Devil May Cry 3, will keep you busy for a lifetime if you're obsessive about beating the game on every difficulty.

-180 hours as volunteer tennis coach for kids
-40 shadowing hours and starting to shadow a new dentist this week
-chemistry club president for 1 year
-3500 hours of work at a hospital, as a chemistry tutor, and painting detailed garden ornaments (yes, gnomes)
-tons of ceramic work, some of which I've won awards for
-tennis club and intramural tennis/volleyball

0/3 so far for schools I applied to that have started offering interviews. It's because of my GPA; I thought they would understand my situation but apparently low numbers automatically place you at the back of the line 😛. I think I can pull out an interview by the end of the cycle but I have no idea if I can get an acceptance. My finances limited me to applying to 4 schools so that doesn't help, and I was naive enough to include a stretch school in my four which I now realize I have very very very little chance at (Penn). I'm trying to get the cash to apply to two more schools ASAP. I was feeling much better about my chances 2 months ago.

I think your stats are fine and if you know anyone that can help (maybe they got some pull at the schools you are applying to) then ask them. I am taking any help I can get and feel fairly confident about getting in this cycle even though my app still hasnt gone out yet (hopefully will this Friday). That said, I also applied to 20 schools. Keep the faith!
