Are post-December interview dates always awarded after December? Or is it possible to be asked to interview in January/February during November/December?

Post-Dec interviews are ones where you interview on a date after Dec 1st. You could receive post-Dec interview invites before Dec 1st. For example, Case has pretty much filled their pre-Dec interview slots so now they'll be inviting people for post-Dec interviews.

You're worrying too soon. Tufts doesn't give invites until October (for pre-Dec interviews) and BU is random. As MA residents, it's highly likely we'll get into one of those two.

Oh well back to a mixture of job, good music and video games. I personally recommend Ninja Gaiden Black or Devil May Cry 3, will keep you busy for a lifetime if you're obsessive about beating the game on every difficulty.

HEY! keep it on the down low. Just because I robbed a bank and went on a shooting spree doesn't mean I am any less qualified to be a dentist. Cracking the safe and handling a gun show great dexterity you know!

Seriously though, those are my actual stats (sans the orphanages) and I still don't have any interviews. Like I said before, its very nice to be distracted with work and hobbies. Otherwise I probably would have robbed a bank...in GTA 4.

7/6 App mailed 7/20 DAT mailed. Supplemental apps done about 3-4 weeks ago (some nearly 2 months ago). Its not really a problem. The way I see it, I am either just not in the first batch of interviews, or the schools hate me. Either way can't do much else but wait!

I was in the first batch and I have nothing. I'm scared. Two of my schools just gave out more interviews recently and I was once again not included. I wonder if there's some huge red flag on my application that I'm just not aware of.

You should call the schools to see if they have everything they need for your application. You could be missing something and you have no idea.

One of my letters of recommendation was by my dentist. I've known him practically my whole life and I've communicated with him by email. He has pretty awful grammar but I thought maybe it was just because of the email context. Now I'm worried that he may have written a pretty terrible looking letter, and I waived my access to it.

Would it be shady for me to ask to see the letter? I'm getting so desperate here.

Well, I don't think that one letter is going to stop you from getting into dental school. Afterall, you didn't write it. It is still early. Just wait. You need to distract yourself somehow.

I applied to UF in early August also. I'm still waiting on a supplemental application. It is still pretty early, and school just started back. I figure the admissions office is pretty busy right now.
@wcombs I believe that you will get an interview with your stats and it is a positive sign that they have called you 🙂

Yep, I think I was feeling overly confident after my DAT, hahaha. Huge mistake. I do feel much better after applying to two additional schools though.

I've actually been taking time away from admissions and it's been nice to not think about it. I only started worrying again when I saw more interviews come out, but it is still early. I hope September is my month 😉.

I am currently a senior at UF but I transferred from a CC (I had no choice; it's a long story) so I don't know if they'll look down on that. I did take prereqs at the CC, but I feel like a 25 TS refutes any argument that I received a lower level education there. I also don't have many upper division sciences, but the ones I do have are notoriously difficult at UF and I received As.

I'm trying not to panic yet because I think I still have a good chance with the schools I applied to. I just really hope my NYU and UoP applications weren't submitted too late in the cycle to receive attention!

I am sharply inclined to agree with you; that being said, some schools simply use this criteria as a screening device to expedite the filtering process. An excellent DAT score might not be enough to overturn school policy regarding CC pre-reqs. Did you research which schools require pre-reqs be taken at a 4 year university?

also - just relax. you're going to get interviews. and provided you don't have the personality of a shoe, you'll get in somewhere. patience is virtue.

Thanks for the encouragement! I did my research and didn't apply to the schools that don't accept CC credits; although I think all schools are fairly biased regardless and I do understand why.

I'm so glad you noticed the avatar! I just made it today. My school's bookstore has a UF College of Dentistry shirt that I walk past every day and it has that dental gator on it. I tried to find the graphic online but I couldn't find it anywhere, so I just took a picture of the shirt in the bookstore on my phone and I played around in photoshop to make it look like a real graphic 😀

wcombs. Your DAT alone will warrant interviews, let alone other stats and such. I definitely think you'll be fine. Schools are quite slow this year it seems. Patience patience. 🙂

Well I applied to 17 and have been rejected from 4 ( Nova, Midwestern Il, LECOM, Loma Linda). My overall stats are sub par as once I transferred from a state college and was free from my parents I had a good time. Total GPA 2.76, BCP 3.0, 18TS/19AA/ 23PA.

This being said am finishing a 2nd BS in microbiology back at my Alma Mater, UF, and have a current GPA of 3.67 on my 2nd BS. Ive been accepted to a couple SMP's and will likely attend in this upcoming spring semester upon graduation.

I knew ahead of time that this was unlikely to happen, but you miss every shot you don't take. That being said I had 2 pretty solid LOR's, worked for a periodontist over one summer (~300 hrs) and have ~60 hrs with general dentist shadowing. I also volunteered at Shands as well as a homeless shelter tutoring the kids and their parents. ~3000 hours direct patient care as a nutrition care coordinator at a long term care facility. In addition I did finished my research project and it was approved for publish last month.

Since I started my 2nd BS, I'm married with a beautiful 8mo girl. In addition, I don't go out at (read I live in a hole!). If something happens it would be marvelous, if not, didnt think so anyways.

Also must note that my AADSAS was complete and verified by 7/16. Received most secondary applications (Something is telling me they do it for the $!) except for Florida.................

Perhaps the tides will turn and I will get am interview. If so, I have the utter most confidence in myself that I will be accepted.

Wow, its almost like looking in a mirror, you and I are almost identical in the situation and stats...I applied to 20 schools, rejected by 4: Nova, Midwestern IL & AZ, & Loma Linda. sgpa ~2.8, cgpa ~3.0, 18AA/20PAT on DAT. Married, 6 year old daughter. 3.73 gpa on courses taken since going back to school for the pre-reqs and recommended courses. Solid LORs from some heavy hitters. My app submitted on 8/24 and now just sitting back and seeing what happens. Good to know there are others out there like me and that Im not the only one who thinks there is a chance with a profile such as ours.
