Well, better late than never, I guess. Am I the only one taking the MCAT on this date?

This'll be my first (ideally only) time and I'll be writing in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.

Cheers!

So while we're all on here... did anyone think the Bio section was particularly difficult with all those organic sugar questions? Man...

imho, they were easy... but, the long experimental story like questions were time killers..

I have the thx site opened in a browser with just the date showing, gonna keep on refreshing until I see the 8/6 test date and slowly drown in my miseries as scroll to the right to reveal each score one at a time

39S (12PS, 15BS, 12VR). Am at a loss for words (good way). Hope things went well for everyone else.

WOWOWOWOW! Nice score!!!!! ( I'm from the 8-12-11 thread). What was your initial impression leaving the exam?

You must be one happy student right now 👍

Practice averages do come true! I averaged 36.5 and I'm really happy to see it turn out this way.
37S (12V 13P 12B)
Congratulations, everyone!

Finished up today; here's my report:

PS: About as difficult as expected. Nothing too strange on here but there were a few tough questions scattered around.
VR: Fairly challenging; I'd heard that the passages on the real deal were longer but didn't have a real idea of how much longer. Finished just in time.
BS: This was actually really easy. No trouble here save for one or two toughies, generally Orgo.

The orgo wasn't what I expected and I don't think it was terribly fair to ask what they did, but...yeah. I can't exactly discuss the details.

Overall verdict: It's over and I'm feeling really good about it, so I can take the rest of this summer off. Hope everyone else fared well; I guess this thread will bulk up again in a month's time. I'll see you all then.

👍 Strong work. You predicted your BS performance quite well!

36S!

12P 10V 14B

I wrote 6/16 and got an 11 08 11 Q and only studied for 2 weeks after getting my scores. This goes to show you how stupid this test is, given a 6 point increase with no change in study habits and minimal extra reviewing. This score is close to my practice average, although my PS average was a bit higher. Overall, not complaining at all! It's finally over for good.

Congrats everyone!

Yeah, I don't like how the scores are so variable at the upper ranges.

I dunno where I posted this but paul411 was kind enough to pull it up in his post:

36Q! 11VR-11PS-14BS I scored 1 pt. higher than my practice averages so I can't complain! I'm just happy to not have to take the stupid thing ever again!

31N... PS: 10, VR: 10, BS: 11

Can't say I'm super happy considering its four points lower than my AAMC average, but its good enough for state school with my other stats. I just was really expecting a higher VR, and especially expecting a higher BS, not sure what happened there.

30P (10PS 9VR 11BS) I would take getting in anywhere... do you think I should take it again? should I apply this round? thanks

38R.

15 Physical Sciences
9 for Verbal
14 for Biological Sciences

R for writing.

Should I go cry right now or should I move on?

I'm in the same boat...got a 32 after averaging a 36...had a >13 BS average and dropped to a 10 on the real thing ...I was surprised to say the very least.

Hit basically exact averages on my other 2 sections, though.

We have good scores, just a little disappointing.

Also, for the 15, 9, 14 R person above me...very impressive. Congrats

31Q (12 PS, 12 BS, 7 VR)

Verbal screwed me, but my gpa is very good, and my mcat is above the average where I want to apply. I was aiming for a 30 and am happy with what I got. Verbal was keeping back in my diags but I'll take it.

Yeah its really such a debate in my head right now about retaking, because my average was 4 points higher than my score. It feels like I hit the absolute bottom of my ranges on all three sections, I scored an 11 only once before in bio on AAMC 8, and I felt this bio was easier than AAMC 11 or 10, which are supposedly pretty difficult. I got 13s on both of them, so I'm wondering what really happened... maybe it was the organic, thats the only thing that was really different, but I didnt feel like it was too much trouble.

I have another year before med school since I'm taking a gap year. I might see how I feel in a few months, and if I feel up to retaking it, I will. Most likely I'll just stick with the 31 though, I dont really care about going to top tier that much.

11 VR
12 PS
10 BS
overall: 33Q

planning to take it again in mid-January... was hoping for 12s in all sections, and had been getting 13 VR and 12 BS in AAMC practice tests. pleasantly surprised by physical sciences score, though. I thought the Bio was trickier for me because it had more biochemistry and Orgo that I had neglected to brush up on...

Is a Q an ok score for the writing section? I had only done 2 writing practices prior to the test...

Q is fine. Basically, unless you write like a 12 year old, it's hard to mess that up. Let's be honest.

A Q puts you, basically, in about the 75th percentile. See this document for specific statistics on 2010 applicants: https://www.aamc.org/students/download/157904/data/combined10.pdf

July '10: PS 8 / VR 12 / BS 9 = 29P
Sept' 10: PS 8 / VR 11 / BS 8 = 27O
Aug '11: PS 9 / VR 11 / BS 11 = 31Q

I will most likely take the exam one last time early next year. I would really like a 10+ in every section and know I should be able to get another 12 in verbal.

Hey guys!

I got a 28Q (BS and PS 9; VR 10).

I am pretty happy with my score because there was quite a lot of orgo on the test, but I didn't learn any orgo in university or prior to taking the MCAT. I am still undecided if I want to retake it, I meet the average scores right now for the vet program I want to get in to.

So this may be a stupid question, but do we ever get to go through the actual exam to see what we got wrong? Or can we do that currently?

25Q (7VR/7PS/11BS)

...Unbelievable! Honestly don't know what happened...never got below a 10 in PS. Maybe I missed a passage? Though I thought I reviewed it at the end.. Practise average was ~31 with the highest being a 34 and lowest being 28! Wrote on 9/08 so I'm hoping that will be more in line with the average, although I'm not holding my breathe...I really don't know what to do..

Posts like this scare and make me think I might score a 26.

I would accept a VR score of 7 even if my score was faked, but I would be very very shocked if I scored below a 10 on PS. How did you feel about the PS after taking it?

I dont know about gong but I thought it was pretty easy. There was a lot of chem, I felt really good about it but I ended up with a 10 in the section, which was slightly below my PS average, I really thought I was gonna hit 11-12 for sure on this section. MCAT is really hard to predict unless you're good at that sort of testing, and I dont think many people are. There's so much more to the test than just content.

Yea, I'm still pretty shocked. Honestly, the whole thing felt pretty good with the exception of VR (where I thought I might score lower than practise averages..and in the end did). Nothing really stuck out as being overly difficult. So like I said the only thing I can think of is that I may have accidentally missed a passage, even though I was sure I reviewed everything at the end. Hoping the score I have coming in early October will be more in line with the practise tests.
