I applied to 50 programs, a couple of quick questions folks:
1-does all program send either rejection or invitation letters or will some programs just keep silent assuming you willintepret that as a rejection?
2- I have not got any interviews yet, when should I start getting concerned, when do surgery programs REALLY start sending out interviews? what is the date after which I shoudl REALLy be concerened?

In general, I tried to book the interviews as early as possible; that way if you get invited for an interview later, you have flexibility. You'll quickly find that scheduling interviews is like doing a logic puzzle (if I interview at program A on date X, I can interview at B on Y, and won't be able to interview at C at all) since there are often a select amount of dates. You want as much flexibility as possible so you don't have to turn people down later.

So yeah, on the FRIEDA website you can get objective information about call and hours and stuff but where can I get the truth about the programs. I went to scutwork.com and it had good information. I wondered if there were other places where I can get peoples opinions of the programs.

Just to clarify... there are two differernt Albert Einstein programs that people are talking about on here. I have an interview at Einstein in the Bronx, wheras chrish has an interview at Einstein in Philly (which I believe is affiliated with Jefferson medical school) There is also Beth Israel in Manhattan which is affiliated with the Einstein school in the Bronx. This can all get somewhat confusing. So specify which city your program is in if you think there might be several programs with the same/similar name.

Whoever is updating that list, you might want to take chrish off the Einstein(NYC) list and add him/her to the Einstein(Philly) list.

Alex, thanks for clearing that up! the one in philly is a little community program. i didn't apply for the bronx one, but now am considering submitting one there as an attending at Columbia said its an excellent program! I heard that Beth Israel is a program with a lot of flux in its faculty and is generally unstable.... what have other people heard in terms of NYC programs?

Adding myself to UNC. Also, did someone write for UT Houston? The names got lost. I think we may be losing people as people reply.

avejoe: I am applying to quite a few west coast programs...I have heard they tend to interview later. I got an email this week from oregon saying they don't even LOOK at apps until after the dean's letter.

chirish: I've heard that Sinai, Columbia, Cornell, and NYU are the best programs in NYC, but I heard NYU is pretty malignant so I didn't apply. I also heard good things about AE in the Bronx so I applied there. My friend's a categorical at St. Luke's/Roosevelt and likes it. Other program: heard Stonybrook's good, Lenox is really small and too fancy pants, L.I. programs aren't excellent. That's all I know!
