Hi everyone!

I just registered to take the MCAT on May 23, 2013 at 8:00 a.m.! I had to register early because I live in NYC and seats fill up fast!

I'm gonna start with SN2's schedule in a couple of months. I ordered the books (TBR, EK, EK1001, etc) a couple of days ago.

How are you guys gonna study?

Best of luck everyone,

- DT93

i didn't see anything out of the ordinary except for a reference to graphs... my post was deleted regarding a vaguely referenced discrete... i had only mentioned the topic. either way, the more time that passes, the harder it is to remember anything, which i guess is for the best.. 🙄

now that i've had two days to think about it, if i could eek out a 8/12/9, i would still be happy. it's so frustrating to think that dumb mistakes can cost you so much on an exam....

Man I wish I had taken your test. A tough PS section would have worked in my favor, as opposed to the impossible BS section I had to deal with....sigh.

It seems like the AAMC always chooses one section to make tough, if im not mistaken.

So can someone explain this whole "experimental passage" thing? I always thought this referred to passages being based on an experiment. Do you guys mean that the AAMC puts passages on the MCAT that won't count towards your score? In every section?

"Note: Each of the three scored multiple-choice sections includes some experimental items. Experimental items, as well as questions contained in the Trial Section, do not count toward your score."

Thanks. I probably should have read that before taking the exam. So certain questions are experimental, not necessarily an entire passage.

plus they might throw out questions that are "invalid", which is the case when a question that was predicted to have about 85% correct responses (easy difficulty) ends up having only 15 or 20% correct (hard difficulty). This can be due to poor wording or vague answer choices not foreseen by the testmaker. Not very many questions, if any, are considered invalid on a given test however...

Would suck if you do well on the experimental passage and bombed a regular passage that actually counts in the grading

T minus 30 days...AAMC think about the children...this wait time is ridiculous. Tell management, your supervisors, whomever, cause I know yall are reading this. Less wait time, more tests = more customers. It's a win-win for everyone. What did we do to deserve this? We played by the stupid rules, paid the fees, just give us a stupid score so I can decide what to do with the rest of my life. 🙁 My parents are hounding me every freaking day...

I'm so jealous of the 4/26 MCAT thread they're all waiting for their scores to come out today

Their scores come out the 29th.

I guessed completely on the last PS passage. I know exactly what you're talking about.

This is reassuring, I recall having to guess on an entire PS passage myself and that has never happened to me before.

Everything is such a blur now but posts like these will trigger flashbacks.

I don't remember what the last passage was even about but I remember it had two questions that I was struggling with. 🙁

I'm going to post this because it gives me a sense of comfort. Maybe it will help you guys too. Say you got 10 wrong in each section, then you'd get a 11/10/11. 😀

Today I had a dream; me and my friend from middle school went on a crazy adventure through the city. We stole some stuff, including a truck, it was crazy!! I then ended up at the middle school with a girl and a boy. I think I kissed the girl and then some of my old teachers passed by and greeted me. We wanted to sneak up in this secret place to hang out but our efforts got stumped. All these students and teachers sat down around us and started a lesson. Some teachers were leaving and one even shook my hand and asked how the test was. I told him I was confident I score at least a 30. 😱

Haha I totally thought that was going to end with you getting a 40.

How do I keep sane for however many more days?? Before I was joking and laughing ta people for being neurotic about it, but with the amcas deadline approaching, I WANNA KNOW NOWWWW

Frustrating to say the least. I keep thinking... oh just a few more days. Not!

Have any of you guys signed up for retakes? I have this overwhelming feeling that I didn't hit my goal AT ALL. :/

Thank you 🙂 but I'm still being haunted nightly by that PS section! I'll cross a couple of fingers for you too!

I'm haunted over the VR...I feel like a noob...the only one who thought the verbal was tough

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Seems like there aren't that many people who took this exam [compared to the other dates]? Or most everyone voided, lol. My mom told me to push it a week but I just wanted to get it over with. And of course seems like most people in the 5/30 thread had a good time. Thanks Murphy!

I'm back! The infraction was honestly minor and I believe the moderators got a little trigger happy...I am confident that the post I made will not get me in trouble with the AAMC so don't fret for any of us, but I would urge people to be a little bit more careful in the future....25 days!

I just read "infraction" as "infarction." Please let me get a decent score….. hahahah :scared:

Hey, everyone. I was also banned for a disputably revealing post about the exam, but that is neither here nor there. 👍 I think I've resolved at this point that I probably scored no less than a 26, so I've just been chilling since.

Does anyone else feel totally brain-dead regarding test material? I feel like I've just let most of the info flow out of my head like a deflatable balloon.

It's all a blur. I'm having nightmares of low 20s, these scores need to come out now!

same... praying for a 30+, especially after that brutal PS section. the worst thing is that i can't really gauge which schools i should shell out money for without seeing my mcat score....

Hey all, I'm a noob to posting, even though I stress read this thread daily. Good luck to everyone! Just barely 3 weeks until the scores!

Is anyone just submitting AMCAS tomorrow/any day before they see their scores? I was advised to just wait it out until June 25 but I am concerned about being too late.

I'm going to submit to one school a little after June 4th and add schools on the 25th once I know where I'm competitive. However, if you're not sure about applying this year at all, and you don't plan on applying unless you get a certain score, then I would advise you to wait.

+1 I'm doing similarly.

Ya what is up with that? I hope they are able to verify everyone quickly before June 28th hits. I was actually planning on submitting mine on the 10th anyways so this works well for me.

When I look at my coursework that I entered on AMCAS, it is blank except for one CLEP course. When I edit it, the coursework shows up. So it's definitely there but when it's on "display mode", it disappears. The problem is that medical schools will see the application in "display mode", so they won't see my (and others that are having this problem) coursework which is of course a big problem.

I wasn't planning on submitting until about June 15th so this works in my favor as well 🙂

Medical schools will see the printed "PDF" version. If you click on that, all of the courses show up.

Three weeks left!

lol I keep wanting to come here, thinking the next time I come on the scores will magically appear or something. I have to keep telling myself they won't come out until June 25th, no matter how many times I visit this site. Why did the waiting for SAT scores go much faster? If I recall they both take a month but I feel that month went by a lot faster then.

Med school >>>> College
Stakes are also significantly higher to get a good MCAT score vs. a good SAT score 😉

Was just looking over AAMC #11 with the notoriously "difficult" Biology section, and 16 wrong was still a 10... I assume PS will be curved similarly, VR harshly and BS with a slightly more lenient curve as well. I'm sure many more trivial thoughts on this exam will run through my head with the scores 19 days away...

That definitely makes me feel more at ease, as that section almost dug me an early grave.

Same here, hopefully you're right. I guess they made 5/30 easier after so many people voided/bombed 5/23 haha. If I make a 28 I'll be fine. My highest AAMC score was a 32 (ironically on AAMC11; but I only took a few tests :\). If I make a 27 or less I'll either retake or pursue what I'm working on now (or both), either way probably not apply this year. My heart wasn't entirely sold on medical school anyway (my parents have really been pushing it) so whatever happens I'll take that as a a sign. Keep the faith all 🙂

Haha yeah for sure. It was actually the opposite for me: my dad was pushing grad school and it wasn't until late junior year when I started considering another route 👍 I hope we all got we needed though! Where are ya'll thinking of applying?

It makes me wonder... this thread is so much more quiet than all the others...
