Hey Everyone,

I was searching through the threads to see if one has been created for this test date yet, but I could not find it so I thought I would create it. I am waiting for finals to finish up and then going to hit practice tests for the next three months!

Hey I'm with you on the 29th, just started my in depth study and did terrible on my first diagnostic exam. However we have 3 months which is a perfect amount of time to get things going.

Yeah everyone usually does poorly on their very first diagnostic. I am hoping for my third time to be a charm. My last MCAT I got a 27R so I know I can crack a 30 if I just focus on my weak areas.

if you guys take this test..and get your score end of august maybe even september 1st..is it still worth applying this year?

i got a 22M in 3/27 and kinda scared to take it too soon, i planned on end of august test to apply next year...

Yes I am still applying this cycle. I think as long as you submit all your other materials and are just waiting on your MCAT scores it is not a big deal. I know people who finished their application late October and even January and still got accepted.

im scheduled for may 21 but have been getting about half of the questions wrong on TPR, so im thinking of pushing my exam until july 29. im worried that aug 31 release date is too late!! ughhhhh

There is no point to rush and take it just so you can have your application complete a couple of months early. The admissions process is a rolling one so if you do well on a later MCAT it will pay off.

I think I'm going to join this administration. I took the exam on 1/29 and was schedule to retake on 6/17, but I think I'll need the extra time to go through more in-depth content review and more practice tests. Taking practice tests and logging results takes time, so I want to make sure I have enough. Plus, I begin work on a 10-week assignment next week that won't end until July 23.

Good luck studying, '29ers!

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to see where everyone is at with their studying? We gotta keep each other motivated so that we all achieve our goals of 30+

I thought allot about the pros and cons before the summer test dates opened up. I felt it in the end it was more important for me to get the full 3 months of studying, and hopefully a better score, than to rush through it and risk a lower score, a retake, or my grades dropping. I signed up for this date on the opening day. Since then I have to admit I did consider moving it up a couple weeks, and then remembered why I chose it.

Good luck everyone.

I'm in. But I can't even start serious studying until next week because of finals! I've been going the material so hopefully I can pull through.

Hey guys,
Are you applying this cycle? Is everyone applying to MD or DO programs? I'm considering applying to MD but i'm not sure taking the MCAT this late would put me in a disadvantage. Are you working on your apps now or waiting until after the MCAT?

Hey all,

I am testing on 7/29/2010. I am trying to get together a group for SERIOUS studying in Baton Rogue, La. The group I study with now adds nothing at all to my experience.

Let me know.

Is there a way to use this thread as study method. My plan is to go over all the lectures in the physical sciences inthe next 9 days then the following 9 go over all of the biological. Then start testing testing testing.

Applying to MD only. If you also plan on applying to MD, you should fill out and send in the primary as soon as possible. Most schools don't screen these days so they will automatically send you out a secondary (as long as you have them listed on your primary). Take the MCAT test and then complete the secondaries. For most schools you would be complete by the end of August when your MCAT score is released.

I am taking MCAT second time around. I took the MCAT in April, but did not receive anything close to the score I wanted. So, I am taking ExamKrackers prep course 2 nights a week starting tonight and doing practice tests on the weekends. I work full time and tried to study on my own for the MCAT in April. That was not successful, as I did not score well. So, I am hoping that being in a prep course will help me, as I would like to be able to apply this cycle.

Here I come.

I took the MCAT almost 4 years ago 8/2006 (the last paper administration) and scored in the mid-20's. When I applied last year, my score had expired so I retook without prep in 1/10 and my score dropped. Thus, I am retaking for which I believe will be the last time and prepping primarily with EK Lecture books and the EK 1001/101 series along with some Kaplan Review Notes.

I do not think that the July 29th test date is late for this application cycle. Four years ago, many people sat for the August admin and the scores did not get back until October and we still were not that late in the application cycle so I am not worried in the least about that.

The reason I registered for 7/29 instead of 7/30 is that in January of this year I signed up for the Saturday test date instead of Friday and ended up wishing I had just taken it on the day before instead. I had planned on taking the 7/8 MCAT but it was full and now I am glad that it was because I have more time to study!

I wish all of you the best of luck!

trying to get a hold of the CBT(short) version of the KAPLAN exams. I took the course 3 years ago and I only have the long version exams....
anyone know where I can get them from ?

You can only get them from someone who's still in their class, I believe. I wouldn't know exactly to go about obtaining those, though. It's probably best to just go with the old exams.

Waiting on my 1001 EK Chemistry to come in the mail. Other than that I have been studying almost everyday. Most concerned about the Physical Sciences section and Organic Chemistry...then Verbal....so spending my time accordingly. I am trying to be done going through all of the EK Physical Science Lectures by the end of this month. So that I can spend the month of July with practice tests and reviewing Physical Sciences and prepping for Biological Sciences and Orgo.

Hi! I took a test on 5/1, but didn't get NEAR the score I was hoping for.
Anyway, I found WikiPremed to really help me clear up some stuff- it helped me to understand why and when to use certain concepts/ equations.

Just wanted to let you guys know about it.

Good luck studying!!

How is it going folks? I am trying to get through all of my Physical Science materials at least once before I take an AAMC Practice Test. I may push my date back but really hope I don't have to...I want to do really well this time. Anybody having any luck finding study/review tips that are working for them?

I am taking the MCAT in August and i was wondering if anyone wants to form a study group so as to help motivate each other. The goal is to get 38+

For physical sciences, what really helped me was watching "Chads Reviews" from www.coursesaver.com. There is a $20 fee for a month but they are completely worth it. He is a TA at my school and holds amazing reviews before chemistry exams (general and organic) and I completely owe the A's in my classes to his reviews. When he told us that he was doing them for the MCAT/DAT, I was ecstatic. I would watch him videos, then read the TPR or EK chapters. He breaks things down really conceptually. This might help you, especially if you have a hard time with chemistry.

This will be my first retake. Took it in May and scored ok on BS and VR (both 10) but sucked on PS (7). Had a Q on writing too....I am NOT looking forward to studying for this bad boy again 🙁

How is the studying going guys/gals? I'm still trying to complete content review especially for the Physical Sciences....got a little discouraged but I'm back focused now. Plan to take my first FL practice test in about a week...and then I will try to take at least 1 practice test every Thursday afternoon since our MCAT is on Thursday, July 29....mine is at 1 p.m. I believe.

Oh snap July 29th is getting closer. I'm taking calculus 2 right now so I'm not dedicating all my time to mcat lol.

Hi all =) I'm also taking the mcat july 29th. I live in NYC/brooklyn and if anyone is looking for a study partner, e-mail me so we can set something up! Don't pm me because I don't check this site too often...

Just over three weeks now!! Starting to see an uptick in my lecture exam scores and not a moment too soon! Good luck to everyone taking it the 29th!

Hey Everyone,

We're almost there! Just wanted to see where everyone was in their prep. I am going finish my bio content review tomorrow then just spend the rest of the time tackling as many passages I can get through and just review some other things I am weak in. I want to start practice tests next week!!! AHHHH We're almost done!!!!!!

I am getting moderately excited now! Thus far I have taken aamc 3, 4, 5 and 6 practice tests. What are your study habits for the last three weeks?

Well my study habits will pretty much exclude anything that doesn't involve poring over a book! Haha. I'm going to be studying the whole time; every few days I'm going to take an AAMC exam and work on EK 1001 to solidify some of my conceptual weak points and that's pretty much it. I took my first AAMC full-length today and now I'm extremely excited to get back to staring at books again!

Never thought I'd ever say that.

I just took my first AAMC full-length today (AAMC #3) and scored 6 points better than I did on my MCAT from 2007. Granted #3 is easier than the actual MCAT will be, but it's some great motivation to get back to the books! Good luck studying, everyone! 😀

How's everybody feeling so far? We're coming in on two weeks of the big day!!

I'm excited for this like it's Christmas, except at Christmas you get presents, and at the MCAT you...sit in a room staring at a monitor that will decide the course of your life for five hours......

Hey everyone,

Just worried sick about this test! I have just finished my content review so I am working passages in my weak areas, I want to take a my first FL tomorrow (Yea I know, late). If it's not where I want it to be, then I am going to delay my test before we're locked it (Maybe till Jan?) I don't know. Soooooooooo freakedddddd outtttttt!!!!!!!

Did someone call my username? lol. 2.5 weeks is plenty of time to just do passages and full lengths. Clearly you're not filling out the AMCAS or secondaries since you're considering switching to January (or you're thinking of not applying this cycle just because of the MCAT...) so since you don't have any distractions you really should be able to do well with the time left. However, if the date you take it isn't important for you then sure, switch to January or even late August so you can get it over with before school resumes.

stop saying things like this 😡 😉 haha

I'm not sure if I'm more or less nervous going into it this time. I remember being fairly nervous my first time in 07, but now that I'm a reapplicant I feel like there's a lot more on the line... however I have completed another year of undergrad and an SMP since then, so I do feel more prepared in general 👍

HAHA, yes I am SOOOOFREAKEDOUT!!! haha. I love your username! I am DONE with my PRIMARY!!!!! I finished it a couple weeks ago but am holding off hitting that submit button to see how I do on the MCAT practice test. I just honestly don't think I am going to be where I want to be. But if you say that 2.5 weeks is enough to work problems, etc --then maybe you're right.

I have just been so discouraged between taking the test when I feel half prepared and applying this cycle or waiting another year and making sure that I am ready. I am going on vacation from July 30th-August 9th so delaying until August isn't really feasible. I just don't know what to do. My prehealth adviser suggested that with my stats and EC's I could get a 28+ and have a good shot at my state school.

I just really don't know. I am going to take my first FL tomorrow and see what happens.

Wishing you all the best! I canceled my July 29 and rescheduled for Friday, August 13... 😉

I know you guys will do well just keep the faith and be persistent in your prep.

I only rescheduled because I am off of work for the summer and have 3 kids...so my content review was going too slow for me to be completely finished x2 with it and my practice tests by that test date...

Good luck on your new date. Don't slack off because you bought some extra time (been there, done that), use it to your utmost advantage.

Assuming that you're simply freaking out because it is your nature and not because you've only done 50% content review or something (which at this point WOULD be something to freak out about) read the following:

I was feeling that way this Saturday. Whine, whine, whine...no one will want me, I have no MCAT and it's scary, I'm SO late in submitting my AMCAS (yeah, the first day they sent them all out was June 25th and it's only been 18 days since then), maybe I should apply next cycle, etc. Then someone who knows me very well smacked some sense into me and I finished my AMCAS and submitted late last night. No looking back now. Sometimes you have to take that leap and let it motivate you. Now it's do or die, I have to do well on this and I WILL do well on this. If your advisor thinks you can make it with your stats and just a 28 then you have to be logical and stop freaking out. Submit, study your heart out, know that you'll get higher than a 28, that's it. You've done all the legwork already and you want to wait a year because you have an unfounded fear that you won't do well? No, fight for this thejakeman! We're all pulling for each other here.

I may or may not have extended my MCAT test date twice .... in my defense, I was finishing second semester of an SMP and would up with practically 0 time to study until after graduating and moving back home

LOL Oh, I know about changing dates! Yes I'm exaggerating but I really feel sometimes that I've personally financed AAMC for the year. That's behind me now though, this date is it for me.

nicely said and very inspirational 👍:luck:👍:luck:👍

Thanks. This process is a formidable challenge, we have to keep each other from drowning at times.
