Hey Everyone,

I was searching through the threads to see if one has been created for this test date yet, but I could not find it so I thought I would create it. I am waiting for finals to finish up and then going to hit practice tests for the next three months!

after we get the scores, how long will it take for the schools to see them( assuming that one had the application verified)???????

This anticipation is killing me ::Holds Spare pair of underwear Just in Case:: LOL

Most worried about verbal, thought it was killer despite it being my best subject =/

Ah, time is passing by so slowly! I'm in class till 3:30...each minute feels like an hr.

From my experience, the scores go up on the AMCAS app at the same time as the THx system. In fact, last year the THx system went down right when people's scores were being released and we were able to see them on the AMCAS app first.

From there it just depends on each school's admin office...

lol you should have just skipped class today

I wanted to, but it's the first day for this class. We're reviewing basic stuff, so I shouldve just skipped. I'm starving, maybe I should walk out? It's a small room with 22 students, I don't want to draw attention to myself lol.

Btw guys, don't forget to post your AAMC averages as well.

And still no scores.

Hey all I'm from the 7/30 but we're pretty much in the same boat at this point. Here's something to hopefully distract you until scores come out (or at least keep you from refreshing every 5 minutes):

they are up...
OMG I did great on PS and BS and messed up big time on VERBAL 🙁
Starting to Study for January exam..need to boost up my VERBAL ....I'm so ashamed of my score OMG

Wait you made a 34??? why did you retake??

BTW guys the 7/16/2010 test takers got their scores at 2:47 forum time, is it EST? I'm not sure

wow one of the greatest days of my life...

Overall, I thought I smashed the PS and BS. I thought I did a bit better on BS, but by God I'll take it. VR and WS I had NO IDEA. Thank God this is over. Always keep the faith people, improvements can be made as evidenced by my 7 point increase in PS. Hope you all did well!!!

I think he was saying his/her AAMC practice test average was 34, not an actual score.

well I did good I suppose, just not too happy with the verbal. However I don't think I really want to retake it just for that when it's not too low.

BS 10

I'm actually relieved for 2 reasons:
1) It's low enough to justify a retake, and I've just spent the last month (since the exam) planning in exquisite detail what I would do to prepare for the retake.
2) It's a LOT better than what I thought I'd get.

ETA: Incidentally, 26 is lower than any practice exam I took. Wow. 🙁

I see I didn't guess very well on this test. I knew enough answers for this score, but was hoping for a few extra points for guesses. That didn't work out.

I guess I will apply and see if this gets me any interviews. At least I pulled my 7 in Verbal up to a 9 and my M (it was an L, noticed it went up from its original mark of L) in writing to a Q.

I would never have thought my writing would have been my best on this test. I'll take it. It can tip the scale in my favor over someone else who is applying with my same score.

Not what I was hoping for, but hopefully it'll be enough to get me into my state school! Fingers crossed! Hopefully you guys are checking your scores and liking what you see!

33Q. Bleh, was hoping to increase verbal to 10, but it only went up 1. I guess that's good enough.

alright, I really didnt know where I stood so I dont know what to feel right now😕. I am applying mostly to the Atlanta area but now I think I should open up the pool. I ended up getting a 27R, a lot lower than any of my practice tests so disappointed there. I did slightly better last year. So here is a question if I submit applications this year, does it in any way reduce my chances of getting in the following year? And do I have to start from scratch with my application? new LORs, different EC? or does AMCAS store your LORs?

I told myself I'd post my scores here regardless, so that I could bring down the average. I'm totally shocked at my score...

11/11/O/11

I ended up with one 33 in a practice AAMC, but the rest were usually 30-32. I NEVER dreamed about an 11 in verbal. Out of all the verbal practice I did, I only got one 11 on a fluke EK VR 101 test.

I'm pleasantly surprised - I wish I had done better on the writing sample, as one of the schools I wanted to apply to usually has a cut off of R... however, the fact that I missed that cut off by a long shot makes me feel a little better about it 😉

Best of luck to everyone else still getting their scores!

30Q

PS:12 (thought this would be 10 at best)
VR: 8 (thought around this, but was hoping for a 9)
BS: 10 (got an 11 on the 5/22 test, and felt horrible about it...felt amazing after this one, but ill take it!)

My last test I got a 27L so it's a nice improvement 😀

This is my first post, but here goes:

I'm pretty excited! not as high as my practices but this is fine with me!!!

It seems like trolling for people to be complaining about a 33+ score.

AAMC and Kaplan average - 39

I'm aiming for a top school, and thought the exam went along with my AAMC performance, so pretty depressed.

Dude, if you're scoring that low two times in a row with a downward trend, you shouldn't be rushing to try to take the test again in order to beat a deadline.

Instead, slow down, take a breather, and really hit the books hard. Take some extra classes to try to get a feel for the material. Get a tutor. Just stop rushing, because at this point, it's pretty clear you don't have the knowledge and/or the confidence to get a competitive score yet.

Apply to med school the following year. It may be later than you would have liked, but if you don't take your time and prepare for this exam, you aren't getting in at all. Don't waste your money on a third rushed exam. Your second one already proved you're not ready yet. You're fighting an uphill battle already with two bad scores, so your third one is going to need to show the adcoms that you know how to prepare for this exam. If you can't do that, then there's no way you can prove you are prepared for med school.

it could be worse. my aamc average was 38.something and i got a 34p on the real thing. i'm still super bummed about it like 6 weeks later. you'll be fine with a 36t lol, definitely can getinto top schools

I don't want to sound mean, but you sound like a total douche saying you are depressed about a 36! Stop being such a dork! It's a great score and if the rest of your application matches that score you will be fine.

But seriously, I don't think you are going to find much sympathy. You have nothing to be depressed about (MCAT wise at least).

Thanks for the encouragement man. A part of me feels like a douche for complaining, but that feeling in my gut that comes with a less than spectacular performance still hurts.

I really wanted my scores to show my potential, especially since difficult courses in college (I double majored in Biophysics and Econ) made my gpa a bit lower, but not horrible.

Droofus, were you also a 7/29?

Guys, I am so screwed. The first time I took it, I got a 26O (11 VR, 7 PS, 8 BS) without studying. So, this last year I studied for three months, and my last 5 practice exams were two 33s, a 34, and two 35s (not in that order). I just looked, and I got a 27R. All 9s. I never scored below a ten on any practice test since I began studying. Wtf should I do? And how did I drop 7 points?

I just wanted to say congrats to you. You truly have shown you have the perseverance and commitment to succeed in medical school. Not many people would be willing to take this test 4 times but you kept going till you succeeded and I really respect that. I wish you good luck this application cycle.

I'm sorry you feel that way, and I'm not looking for sympathy, just to vent since I'm at work right now and nobody even knows i took the MCAT.

It's also not your place to judge how others should feel. Everyone has different goals and expectations for themselves; just because you don't agree with how someone should feel doesn't make that person's feeling less real.

But thanks for the quasi-support.

09grad--

No, I was a 7/16. And I definitely know what you mean; feeling like you underachieved sucks, especially when you imagine would could have been. I was soo ready for that test and scoring in the 40's towards the end... then just had a bad day I guess. I've been mad at myself for a few weeks now, kind of going through periods of doubting myself and then periods where I think everything will be fine. My mindset now is to do my best this year and if I don't get in anywhere, I know I can retake the test and become a super strong applicant next year. Not an ideas scenario, but it keeps this mcat in perspective, knowing that I will definitely end up somewhere I like eventually. you will too, just try not to beat yourself up like i did lol it's not worth it.

you shouldnt be depressed at all. Thats a great score and I would be very proud of it. Good job. Just look at the people that scored something that would make you feel absolutely terrible about. I mean a 36T is a great score. Don't be so down! Go celebrate!

Three guesses.

1) You were relatively fresh out of the pre-req classes, and could recall some information from the top of your head without actively having to review. And having blown through those sections the first time, it may have led you to believe you didn't need to review it too much this time, since you flew past that section the last time.

2) You over-studied, or studied too specific an area. After having taken it once, you ended up studying a lot of material you didn't really need to study after assuming the MCAT would test a certain level of complexity it didn't. And I'll bet you spent an inordinate amount of time studying material tested on the first MCAT that may not have shown up on the second.

3) You either stressed out for the second MCAT, or went in more confidently than you should have. Either could have led to rushing and careless mistakes.

Any one or combination of the above seems likely for such a drop. Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately, unless you're applying DO, you've probably trapped yourself into another retake to prove the first MCAT wasn't a fluke.

I think option 3 is probably what happened. I don't know. I have a history of doing well on standardized tests with both the SAT and ACT, so I don't know how I all of a sudden have such anxiety problems, if that's what occurred. I just don't know. Do I take it again? I mean, I didn't feel like I could have been much more prepared, and I felt fine walking out. What if this happens to me again? If I felt all of this pressure the second time, then it's certainly going to be worse the third.

My only hope is that the lowest school I'm applying to, Wright State, will accept me. I'm in-state, and their avg MCAT is a 28. Don't some schools take your highest sections of your MCATs? So, would some schools give me a 29R?

I would study for awhile again and take it next year. I wouldn't go overboard with studying but just study enough to remember the information you knew while taking the practice tests. Maybe the stress got to you? Your practice tests show you can get a very good score. Just try again next year and I bet you can get a 33-35. However, if you really study a lot maybe you can get even higher! Just try again, you can definitely do it.

Well, the problem is that I already sent out my primary apps. So, I've already invested a grand on applying. I don't care too much about where I go to med school, so I'd be okay with Wright St, if I can get in. I just can't believe that happened to me. I studied so that I could never get below a 30, and I never got below a 10 on any section. So, I dunno. I just can't believe it.

My original guesses were based on the assumption that you had an identical testing environment. A discrepancy between practice tests and the real test can be attributed to TONS of factors. Were you drinking water during your practice tests? Were you sitting on a pillow? Listening to music? Was your girlfriend/boyfriend in the room as a comforting presence? Were you taking the practice exams timed, in order, and with all the same variables the regular MCAT has? Did you take it during a different time of the day? Different light level?

Hard to tell. You might as well try applying, since you're apparently above the average for your home school in terms of MCAT stuff.

I'm pretty sure the some schools take all your best sections together out of different mcats for one score, so I think you'll be okay.

Not judging how YOU feel. But hey, get over it, you did great dude.

BTW sort of funny how I said you sounded like a douche at basically the exact second you said you felt like one. So, I wasn't too far off on my assessment. Peace out holmes. Chill.
