Anyone else taking it on this day? Just got all of the sn2 materials minus TPRH which is on its way. Planning starting the schedule right after my last final.

***Edit: congrats everyone on the great scores and good luck to anyone retaking. I actually rescheduled to the 9/6 date so I've been on that thread instead XD

Im taking it September 1st. I wanna have as much time as I can to do this SN2ed schedule right. It will be a brutal summer.

I'm planning for 8/23 as well.

Taking a TPR course this summer which ends on 8/01. Should I take it on the 23rd or earlier than that?

I think the 23rd is fine assuming you're still reviewing at that time. If you think you'll be burned out from the course I'd take it earlier; maybe squeeze in a few more practice tests in that time?

On day 3 of the three month Sn2 schedule... I'm definitely seeing now why he tells us to not do this with a part time job or classes; I couldn't imagine being able to stick to it if I did. Good luck to anyone else studying

I'm also taking it 8/23 and i'm also on the 3rd day... 😀 and you are right! Every day takes a good 6-8 hours for me. I just hope i don't fall behind.

A mod needs to merge the other 8/23 thread and this one together:

Haha awesome; I just finished reviewing the first third of the chapter 1 chemistry problems. Taking a break before reading o-chem chapter 1.

im an 8/23/2012 taker too! doing sn2 also. hope its going well for you guys, im on day 15

Wow... idk if it's just me but TBR bio is killing me atm. Just finished the 1st/3rd of passages for the heart & lungs and got 21/33 questions right (~64%). Can't believe I'm doing great in orgo (got 91% questions right) when I considered bio my best subject. The questions are just so detailed. Let's hope I can improve on this

I'm averaging about a 65% on TPR bio passages/questions, 59% orgo but 86% gen chem and 80% physics.

Those will soon go down, no doubt. 😛

Wow....so disheartening. Took my third TPR diag and my verbal dropped by 3. 6 PS 7 V 8 BS. I thought I did really well in PS too....

I just switched to this date!! Needed more study time because life got in the way! This test is definitely going to be a beast. I'm doing an altered version of SN2ed schedule too (looks like several of us are!). So far studying is going pretty well. I'm averaging anywhere from 7-9 on most of my practice passages and have only gone through the first 3ish chapters in each subject so far...a little behind there! But I'm going to do less in verbal because I've been averaging 10's there so I figure if I just do a couple passages a week at least until I catch up with PS/BS I should be in good shape! I've done a general overview of everything and am now going back through each chapter meticulously. Anyone else working full time and trying to squeeze in enough study time?

Hii i'm taking it on this day too...is anyone doing kaplan?

I'm doing this date too, I postponed from earlier. I'm doing the kaplan schedule with kaplan online, TPR and BR materials. Basically doing all of kaplan and BR but with TPR for "problem areas" including Verbal. Also doing EK101 verbal.

for FL tests, I am doing Kaplan, TPR and AAMC.

I will be applying next cycle.

Going to be taking AAMC 3 tomorrow to get an idea of what those tests are like.

My 3 TPR tests have been 24, 23, 21.

So.....how indicative is AAMC 3 supposed to be? I did a lot better on it than my TPR tests but it seemed fairly straightforward at times and they say it's supposed to be easier than the other AAMCs.

I've heard it is definitely easier. But I haven't taken any FLs yet so idk. I start taking FLs in about 2 weeks...

I have the BR ORGO 1+2 (new condition), BR Verbal Reasoning (some writing that I would gladly erase), TPR Hyperlearning Physical Science Review (very good), TPR Verbal Reasoning&Writing Review (very good), and MCAT Pearls (new). Send me a message if interested. 🙂
Best of luck on the test!

So far studying seems to be going ok. Can't believe the test is a little more than 1 month away. I've had to modify the schedule since I fell behind, but I've been using Sundays to catch up and the middle days of the weeks are sometimes only reading 1 chapter and passages, so it's possible to catch up by doing another.

I'm trying to get in on this. I keep waiting for a spot to open. Hopefully my 6/21 score comes back good. But if not, I'll be making a last ditch effort on this day.

Rescheduled to August 23rd. Good luck everybody.

I am retaking a 29P from May 24. This time, I am doing every single problem from the EK 1001 series followed by 10 kaplan full lengths. So far, I learning a lot from the EK 1001 books. By doing all these questions, not only am I getting the content review, but it's VERY good practice for multiple choice wording, timing, different types of questions, avoiding simple mistakes, avoiding trickery, and approaching each problem. I hope I can incorporate all this knowledge and gained skill into the harder passages I will most likely see on the MCAT. I think this is very good practice, and I'd encourage everybody to quit reading books and do as many problems as you can.

And by the way - from my experience on May 24, knowing EVERY BIT OF INFORMATION is extremely vital. I remember during a quick review the morning prior, I told myself "I probably won't get tested on this structure", and so I skipped it. Believe it or not, that SAME structure showed up on my MCAT and I forgot what structure it was. It was a memorization question - and there were MANY of them. Know all the equations, concepts, ochem structures, and definitions by heart.

Also - the real thing is MUCH different than the practice tests. The May 24th exam was MUCH harder than the AAMC practice tests (however, the verbal passages were easier to read and comprehend, but the questions were still tough).
You'll experience a surge of adrenaline. Time FLIES. You approach problems more carefully and over analyze. You need to make sure that you aren't intimidated when you start your test. Be confident in everything you have done the past several months. And did I mention, TIME FLIES? Fastest 6 hours of my life. Do NOT slow down, go to the next question. I got screwed in the first PS section because I lost track of time and didn't realize how slow I was going - I was being way too careful and didnt get time to answer at least 5 questions.

Good luck to everybody. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or ask me here.

Do you mean "quit" reading books or actually mean to quickly read through the books? And also, I was debating getting the EK 1001 Chem and Physics books. Can you give a little more details about how these helped you compared to what you did before? Which ones do you recommend? I might buy them tonight. THanks

Also, I have TPRH Science Workbook. If you have it too, how would you say they compare?

When do you expect to be finished with the 1001 questions and start the FL's?

I hope to be done with all 4004 questions by the beginning of August. And then take a full length exam every other day. I am about 500 questions in, but I am studying around 6 hours a day. I'm also doing 3 verbal passages a day to keep up with verbal. Hopefully these next 35 hectic days will get me at least a 31.

Sorry for the typo. I meant "quit". I personally think that your ability to learn is significantly increased by doing problems rather than reading bulk information from a review book.

I have only gone through the first 150 problems of Chem and about 100 of Physics. So far, I have fully mastered the equations/concepts in the first chapter - I am more confident than I ever was before. It pretty much exposed me to all the different types of questions they can pull from these topics (including the trick questions). You might not see the same exact questions on the MCAT, but something very similar to it (which could come from either a passage or the discrete section). And I recommend both chem and phys- they are a great practice tool, and it's only 20-30 bucks. And btw, I think EK 1001 Bio is the best book out of the series.

I am not familiar with the TPRH Science Workbook - I am sure it is fine, as long as your continually doing problems. All I can do is vouch for the credibility of EK 1001. All the questions touch on each and every topic you need to know, and there are different variations of these questions which may fool you on the real test. The books are great practice and review.

This is good advice and also what I did wrong before which is why I had to reschedule.
Problems are the way to go.

I don't even remember the crap I read from review books. All the knowledge needs to be INTEGRATED in your head, and the only way to do that is to do problems.

I'm using BR and EK 1001, practicing with passages and the problems in EK series. The combo is serving me well...but I am a but behind schedule! I'm hoping to have content review DONE by the end of August so that I can devote all of August to taking FL's. Not sure how realistic that is though since I'm a little behind schedule. But I'll add that I recommend the EK 1001 books too! I don't have the bio one, but I have Org, chem, and pays and like them all. I also have the science hyper learning book from PR but have not used it much, I just don't have time for EVERYTHING. Hoping to utilize that in August after content review as well.

I just completed content review yesterday. For the next 7 or so days i'm going to aim for mastery of content. Going to rotate through 4chapters physics/4 chapters bio on one day, 4 chapters chem/4chapters o chem on another day. By next tuesday I'm going to take AAMC's self assessment for the next day or two to spot my weaknessess and then begin full lengths while focusing on my content weaknesses + doing the last 1/3 of the BR passages for the next month before my exam.

Most of the content is pretty well in my head, like others have said EK 1001 is good for nailing down basic content.

If you guys are stuggling with ANY chem/physics/organic content then I highly recommend paying 30$ and go watch Chad's videos. He is the friggin man, and explains difficult concepts with so much ease. I haven't taken Chem 2, Orgo 2, Physics 2, or very much cell biology, and he is the perfect supplement to fill in content weaknesses. 30$ is NOTHING when you consider how much benefit you get out of it.

Good luck to everyone! Its crunch time for the next 7 days before my assessments, lets do this !

Anyone else thinking about moving the test date to sept 1 lol 🙂

I'm hesitant to do that. The reason why is because I'm applying this cycle and many of the schools I'm applying to will only accept an MCAT taken as late as September 1st. So if something happens on that day or if there is an error/cancellation and you have to reschedule to a later date, then you have effectively rejected yourself from each of those schools. Stay the course brother!

No...I'm applying next cycle. If I screw this test up I will take it next Jan. Only reason why I'm taking it now instead of just waiting is because I've done a lot of studying up until now and dont want to "waste" it, so to speak.

Well I'm applying next cycle so it wont be that bad for me I guess

To be honest my goal is to take it once and be done with it. Thats why I wanted to take it on the 23rd: so that I could focus this entire summer on MCAT. Also MCAT + school work isnt a particularly good combo

I guess, since the test is close to a month away, I'm feeling kind of hesitant of my abilities to perform well (despite finishing content review and scoring >30 on 2 official exams and that 6 more days of studying wont really help me much)
But meh :/

I'm planning to apply this cycle too...so pushing it back too much further really isn't a great option for me either. That being said I'm also not finished with my content review.....🙁

If it makes you feel any better I haven't finished content review either. I feel so behind as well...
