Well my number 1 was UCSD but I just got put on waitlist there.

By the way, I randomly saw one of the people from the admissions committee for UCSD at the library (I am an undergrad there) and he said he was told that 1/2 the people who get on waitlist come off of it. He asked me for my numbers and told me I should get off and get an interview...so hopefully he is right 🙂

Graduated with a BS in electrical engineering in 2006. Have decent amount of ECs, great LORs and currently working as an engineer.

My AMCAS is verified and plan on sending out my Secondaries by this weekend. Applying to medical schools through the Review Committee at my school (North Carolina School) and they just sent out the LORs and my Comprehensive Evaluation to all the medical schools I'm applying to.

I'm applying to all the medical schools in my current home state (NC) and schools in my previous home state of New york.

Do you guys think I have a good shot? Please give me suggestions as to what I can do to get any interviews?

You can get in imo. You did great in the science sections, but it's really good that you're doing things other than school. Depends on your ECs, but they'll be refreshed to see a non-science major and current EE coming through. I know UNC accepted someone with a 6 in VR based on MSAR stats so don't get too down on that score. It's just one piece of the application. 🙂

Found out my August MCAT score ....38P (14 Physics, 13 Bio, 11 Verbal)...I'm very grateful.

I am a reapplicant and have a 4.0 in my current Master's Program in Medical Science.
3.3 Undergrad Overall and 3.14 BCPM...awesome.

All this talk about late secondaries has me a little concerned.

I sent out most of my secondaries last week, but was wondering how much it really affects our applications. I mean most schools haven't even processed MCAT scores yet.

Hey man, what schools did you apply to? I wouldn't worry, you have a great MCAT score, so long as you applied to midtier, and some back up schools they interviews will surely come, its still early, the processing of the letter of recommendations is the real hold up in the process, somet schools have told me it takes them a full 2 weeks to process letters of recommendations

I'm still waiting for the Loyola, Wayne State, and Minnesota Twin Cities secondaries. I really hope they get here soon 🙁 I actually called Tufts, Drexel, and Buffalo today to inquire about why I was still listed as not having turned my letters in (I turned them into VE about 3 weeks ago and mailed them to Buffalo) and guess what? They magically found them and I am now complete. If you guys have been waiting on letters for 2-3 weeks, start calling, especially if you sent the letters in before submitting the secondary. Waiting for the rejection or interview invites is starting to weigh on me. I'm hoping to start hearing something mid November at least and get a few interviews December. All you Aug MCATers

This thread is for interviews AND screened secondaries, right? Anyway, I just got the Wake secondary in my email. I was AMCAS-verified in early August, so I guess it took my new MCAT score for these suckers to decide I'm worth letting me pay them a secondary fee....

I took the August MCAT. It was a retake from April. My AMCAS application was verified on August 8th (prior to even taking the August MCAT). I received all 15 secondaries within 30 days from that date. In fact, I believe the last secondary I received was from Drexel on September 2nd.

My average turn-around on secondaries has been about 5-7 days. All secondaries are in now, and have been in for at least 1 month. I have received one interview invite (from Morehouse) and haven't heard anything else so far.

Reason I'm confused: Does this particular thread not pertain to me since I had a prior MCAT score submitted with my AMCAS? On every secondary that asked, and on the AMCAS application, I specified that I would be taking the August MCAT.

I took the August 2005 MCAT, and took it again August 2006. I called every single one of the 27 schools I applied to, and almost all of them told me that the moment I indicated I would be taking the Aug 2006 MCAT I was put on hold until they got those scores. No considering of previous scores, no nothing. (The only exception to this statement were the schools that did NOT rely on my AMCAS to know whether I was re-taking, but actually asked me again on their non-screen secondary if I wanted to wait for the Aug 2006 scores)

In retrospect, My previous MCAT score was a 30, so I was probably good enough on most of the to at least get a secondary anyway....then I could have surprised them with an MCAT update, maybe?
