The Official August 2015 MCAT Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Class doesn't start until Thursday. I think not being in school has actually made the wait easier tbh. Haven't thought about tests, volunteering, or any premed things at all this last month.
Oh, I forgot about the quarter system.
Ugh, I'm so jealous, I need a damn break. I went straight from spring semester to breakneck mcat studying to fall semester

I actually attend school in the Netherlands so this is my 2am SDN time.

Amsterdam. UVA all the way baby.

So according to the predictor a 63% in B/B scores as a 127. I've never seen such a generous scale. How are you guys determining this?
Yea, I was thinking the same thing. 63% for 127 seems like a ridiculously generous curve; however, other predictors posted on sdn (such as this one https://www.reddit.com/r/Mcat/comments/3k1kgd/aamc_fl_conversion_spreadsheet_for_your/)
have similar conversions. Also, I noticed the scaled scores to percentile rankings on the old mcat were harsher than these ones. For instance, a 63% on the old Chem/phsy section would yield more like a 7-8. I really appreciate you guys making these predictors though, and I hope they are accurate 🙂

Shoulda been prelaw.

I'll just chill with @TexasSurgeon instead.
Wassup man

honestly that excel spreadsheet has made me significantly more relaxed. If ~ 90% fall in the same range, then i'm ok. But the range makes me sad it may not be higher lol.

ignorance is bliss right now

I had a dream last night that I got a 511 and was disappointed..I really want a 515+...
woke up all freaked out this morning thinking scores were released and it took me a minute to realize that it wasn't Tuesday..,

Dream version of you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Unless it's trojan.

I knowww....I just need a score that will make my life easier, not harder. I already have some difficulties with apps and locations, I need an MCAT boost :hungover:

What about locations?

And don't say "omg I deserve to stay in cali" you spoiled brat.

A) Damn right I do, everywhere else is just like, ew
B) not really, I'd love to live on the East Coast, I'm just applying to school at the same time as SO, and being in the same location would be highly preferable.

@StudyLater is on probationary status? :annoyed: what on earth happened

for the second time in a week I might add

Ismet has a crush on me and this is his way of getting my attention. Personally I think it's adorable and I might just go out with him if he asks me properly 🙂

and @StudyLater you try living in a state where the average MCAT is 515-516 and there's pre-meds up to you eyeballs

You said you go to a private school. Pretty sure you're institutionally biased.

What does that have to do with med school? I'm pretty sure the ratio of pre-meds to med schools in CA is higher than any other state. The UC's get something like 10k applicants a year each and have averages of 33-35 on the old scale

a) idk it's whatevs mybffjill lives in Houston and it's like sooooooo hot so i totes get that.
b) That's pretty intense. Don't know what I'd do if I had a pre-med SO....

not pre-med (thank God, lol, that would be too neurotic). grad school, but still stressful

I meant to say you're around more people that would score well!

And I get it. This is why like Touro would be the only place I'd apply out there. Unless you've got some other crappy school that might take me.

are you DO or DO and MD?

every time I talk to my mom, she's like, so when will you know if your MCAT is good enough for you to stay in CA?

*sigh*
