On my interview day Dr. Brown said they extend invites to 115 people on December 3rd hoping to fill all the spots in a class of 90 but they usually never fill it first round.
 
Anyone have any news from Buffalo now that the deposit deadline has passed?

Says the person who, before they had any acceptances, told everyone in that pre-dent chat room thingy that "I've been rejected everywhere, I only have a couple interviews, epic fail". Lol. I think every pre-dent is neurotic at times. It's stressful. It's certainly been a wild ride up to this point.

^This is how everyone felt prior to Dec 3. You're the one who insisted you will change careers cause you got accepted to Tufts lol. Most would've been pretty happy to get a seat at any school.

Just interviewed today! I definitely overstressed beforehand lol. I fell in love with the school though 🙂
 
Enjoy your exited news! I'm in the lower of one third of the list. I guess it means lower of the top list, not bottom list. Am I right?

This depends on your GPA, DAT, when your interview was, and how your interview went.

I think you're asking if by "lower of 1/3" they mean lower of the top third or the bottom third of the list. I would assume they meant the bottom part of the top 1/3 but you would only know for sure if you called to clarify. Good luck!
 
I was placed on the alternate list this week. I spoke with Barbara and she told me I was in the upper third of the list.

So I called the school and they said i was in the upper upper third, so this maybe good news
 
i quote her exact words. On the phone i heard upper twice so i confirmed with her.
 
My interview was 1/11 and I thought it went really well but I haven't heard anything yet. Is it appropriate to call at the end of this week? Or just assume rejection?
 
False alarm. Just got the email. I'm in the "upper, upper 1/3" as well 🙂

stats: ogpa3.68, sgpa3.55, DAT21/21/21, in state

someone from my interview group got in today so there must still be open spots

also does anyone know on average how far do they go down the waitlist? I understand its different every year but just an estimate would help..
 
Just found out today that I'm in the upper third as well. I wonder how long the list is... there seems to be a lot in the upper third.
 
Just talked to Barbara and she told me im in "the middle 1/3"...so scared! 🙁 Buffalo is my top choice!

Congrats all on making the smart decision to attend Buffalo 🙂 I'm an outgoing 4th year. Soon/eventually UB will reactivate its orientation website, which has a forum where students can post housing info, including trying to find roomates. Myself and other dental students who have apartments to rent will post info, and you will also receive a HUGE pdf with recommendations from current 1st years about apartment complexes in the area. There are a lot of living options in the area!

I own a duplex in Tonawanda (a suburb of Buffalo) and will be renting out my side when I move this summer for my pediatric residency. Feel free to PM me if anybody is interested in the following: a 2 bedroom/2 recently updated bath apartment, with large dining room and living room, fenced in yard/pets welcome, with a dental lab in the basement (so you don't have to spend every night in B28!), approx 10 mins from school on a good day and 20 mins on a typical day. Right next to a golf course; walk right out of the house to running/biking/walking trails all the way to the Erie Canal Trail system which goes all the way to Rochester if you're so inclined. Huge shed in backyard to store your bikes 😉 Nice neighbors, safe location, I'm a female and I walk my dogs at night without a problem. Off street parking. $800/month includes water. My suggestion is find a roomate and split it, and you can each have your own bathroom so no fighting for the shower in the morning 🙂 Or if you have a family, it is in the nice KenTon school district and plenty of neighbors have kids, and there are parks and playgrounds in walking distance.

Be discriminate about housing. First year I moved in from NJ and I thought $900 for a 1 bedroom/1 bath was a deal - little did I know that housing in Buffalo is very, very affordable and I was stuck in an overpriced lease for the whole first year. Take your time to look around at all of your options. My best suggestion is look to the north, northwest or east of the school; you can get some really really cheap housing right next to the school but some of it is in a scary area. The dental school is on the corner of Main and Bailey. If you go north across Main Street into Amherst, or east across Bailey into Cheektowaga, you are usually pretty safe. If you go south some of the areas are less desirable. Especially if you got in now, you have plenty of time to apartment hunt 🙂
 
Interview must be for waitlist at this point! Whatevs Maybe I go for fun!
 
I got an interview invite today for either of the last two dates! Either Feb 7th or 8th. Anyone have any idea how full the class is? Is it even worth it for me to go? I'm probably going to say yes...I've only interviewed at NYU and have been waitlisted there, so I'm going to pursue any opportunity I have. I'm very lucky and excited!!

3.36oGPA; 3.51sGPA (Every semester has been over a 3.5 since freshmen year); I'm in state, from NY; AA 22; TS 21; PAT 20, QR 20, RC 22

What do people think my chances are?
 
Definitely go! I know a lot of people who've been interviewing recently have been wait listed, but a couple lucky few have snagged spots. If you are wait listed, your rank will depend on your gpa, dat, date of interview, how you did in the interview, etc... Good luck!
 
I am signed up for this upcoming Thursday, Feb. 7th! I'm really excited and nervous...

Could I get some input on people on what the interview was like, and what types of questions they asked? It would be greatly appreciated!!!

Well on the bright side this is the last week buff is doing interviews, so we might see some movement soon.
