****The Official Buffalo Class of 2017 Acceptance Thread****

I am sooo nervous! I am in the middle 1/3, do you guys think I even have a chance at UB? 🙁

I was in the middle third last year, never heard anything. This year I'm in the upper third and still don't have high hopes. All depends how much movement there is in the next month. Just hope that other schools have a lot of movement, and those with buffalo offers drop them. Don't give up hope, but at the same time don't bank on being pulled.

🙁 Thank you for the response! Good luck to you, I hope you hear something soon!

Has there been any movement over the past 1-2 weeks on the waitlist? Or will there be some (hopefully) in another week or two?

Anyone considering living in Collegiate Village?
Me too! It seems a lot of dental students are living there which is kinda neat. On the lease it asks for any specific housing requests and one of mine was to live in a building with other dental students haha

I got accepted a few days ago and I will be attending! I interviewed in January and was placed in the upper 3rd of the waitlist.

Congratulations to all who have been accepted, and good luck to those still waiting! I'm a graduating 4th year at UB, and I know you're all worrying about housing (as am I). I'm here with a bit of an agenda, I'm breaking my current lease (1 bedroom) to start residency, and I would love to see it filled by a new medical student (just as I got this apartment from a graduating 4th year). I'll even include an air conditioner and some basic medical textbooks.

The apartment complex is Delaware Park, run by Kenmore Development. If I were a first year medical student picking a location to live, this is ideal. It is 15 minutes or less from South Campus (where all first and second year classes are) as well as 15 minutes or less from all major hospitals (where the vast majority of 3rd/4th year clinical rotations are). Essentially right in the middle of the action. In addition, the neighborhood is nice (safe, 2 major grocery stores nearby), and the neighbors in the building are mostly medical students and residents who are quiet and courteous (no roudy undergrads). The price is fair for the amenities provided. I won't enumerate every feature, but I have lived here very comfortably and if you have questions I would be happy to answer them if you private message me.

In addition, there is a promotion going on where you get $400 off your first month's rent. IN ADDITION to that, I will get $200 if you do me the favor of naming me as a referrer, no matter what apartment you select. I'll split that with you 50/50 and make you a check for $100 if you decide to live here.

Piece of advice: some have been thinking about Collegiate Village. This was a popular choice for first years in my class too. Form what I heard, many people did not like the "dormitory" like atmosphere and eventually found other apartments.

Good luck to all!

Any news?
I still have yet to hear anything. I am hoping to see some movement on the waitlist soon..

I haven't heard anything lately, I called Barbara today and asked her if there has been any movement on the wait list lately and unfortunately she said that there hasn't been in the past couple weeks....

Yeah, last time I spoke with her was on the 17th...at that point she said there had been a bit of movement, but she said that its really up in the air about what happens from now on...

Did she say anything about when they might see movement or do you think its all on a 1 by 1 basis now? I figured that all the people originally accepted probably had until the 15th to make final decisions...and people accepted from the waitlist probably had 2 weeks or so to accept from their notification date.

I'm not really sure if thats how it works...but it sounds reasonable...If that is the case, maybe there will be a little bit more in a few days.

I think we all just have to cross our fingers at this point... =/

I'm assuming its one by one basis (makes sense) until they have the 90 seats solidified for the upcoming year, but I don't really know....all there is to do now is just keep hoping, if not re-apply for next year....

Got a call yesterday!! Was in the upper third. List is moving! 🙂

I decided to give them a call this morning before I coughed up a couple g's for next year's applications...I talked to Barbara for about 10 minutes, but things didn't look any different. So I planned on submitting my application tonight.

But I got a call two hours later while I was at work notifying me of my acceptance!!!!! So glad I didn't waste $2,000...lol. Best monday every! Can't wait to start this August with all of you!

Hello fine folks! Is there any chance people can confirm that it is definitely possible to get in state tuition this late in the game when establishing one's self? Also, anyone still looking for roommates?

just got accepted off the waitlist! Anyone know the link to the fb group page?

congratz, seems like you were a pre-pharm? Just curious what other grad programs did you apply to?

Just withdrew from the Class of 2017 at UB School of Dental Medicine. Hope the spot goes to one of you!

Thanks so much for letting us know. I am on the wait list and very hopeful to receive that position! Have you decided to attend another school?

^notice his status: medical student? some people applied to two or more types of graduate programs. I wonder if he mentioned it on his application that he would apply for med school as well. I heard it significantly lowers one's chance of getting into either school.

Or they accedentaly posted in the wrong forum.

^highly doubt it since he said he dropped UB DENTAL Medicine. Also the last person who just got into UB dental was an accepted pharm student. Just read a few post back

Oh I missed that but the pharm student was def posted in the wrong forum.

Sheesh guys, I was just trying to be nice by keeping you updated about a spot opening up. It was correctly listed as UB-Dental, and I highly recommend going for anyone who is accepted - really great staff and I know a few very happy grads from the program.

I just got a call from Mrs. Weinberg offering me a spot 10 minutes ago, I declined it as I've already been accepted to my state school. Someone is about to get in!!
