You should drive up to Buffalo, walk into Admissions, and say "I'm on the waitlist, and I thought I'd save you the trouble of having to go through all the waitlisted applicants' files before choosing someone- you can pick me; here's a check for the deposit!"

Haha damn! that is one hell of an idea actually. It is risky because it might affect my application negatively, can't 'pressure' the adcoms

Sorry freddent but there are a lot of people who were in the first interview group so dont say stuff like that. Also, people dont deserve things in this world, no one owes you anything. You earn things. Dont have that entitled complex. Also, i thought you wouldve declined the waitlist spot since you dont have hopes anymore.

I call weekly and Barbara has the same answer everytime, 'that she doesn't know when the waitlist will move and what our chances are' and shes not allowed to give that info.

This is what I don't like about dental schools. They don't respect us by not telling us anything.

I feel like there will be less moving since their last two interview dates in February were not filled. So it's possible that they didn't invite that many people this year.

Does anybody know if they actually send rejections to people on the wait list? I just got a repeat email from UB confirming my status on the alternate list and asking that I tell them if I want off of it.

I can understand why they do it this way. If it so happens that they need to dip into the waitlist, wouldn't it be wise for them to know who is interested and who has accepted other offers, moved on, etc...

Take it easy folks.. Good things come to those who wait.

Not to be rude, what what do you expect at this point in the cycle? If they need anybody from the wait list it's going to be a case by case basis.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at and I'm well aware that things are done on a case by case basis.
I'm just curious if anybody has talked to the staff, learned anything new regarding admissions, or even if somebody has been accepted recently. I don't expect anything.
