I was waitlisted last year - the wait period actually extends to the first day of orientation (mid-August).

In the meantime, you can consider applying to other schools, continue improving your candidacy, and consult with advisors to discuss weaknesses in your application. As far as I have been told, there is no certain 'rank' to the waitlist. The best thing to do is to stay busy and prepared so that if you have to reapply, you can show clear improvement.

Best of luck! 🙂
Did you get off the waitlist last year? Or did you reapply?

Does anybody know when they will start calling waitlisted people?

I'm sure it'll be after the deadline the first round of acceptances must pay their deposit, which should be sometime around January 7th.

Has anyone been able to find out what number they are on the waitlist?

It's not ranked by number. I forget what exactly they told me but they mainly do it by background and area you live in.

I hear that there are separate waiting lists for in-state and OOS. Not 100% sure, just what I've heard...

There are two different ones. They have to keep a certain ratio of IS to OOS, so they keep different list.

My earlier comment applied to the IS Waitlist, btw.

Has anyone recently joined face book group from the waitlist? I deactivated my facebook so i don't know.

Doesn't seem like there's been much movement or anyone saying that they've been called from the waitlist. This wait is killer haha

Just called the school, seems like they are still in the process of receiving transcripts from alternates and haven't quite made up the waitlist

Ohhh really. Did they mention if they called anyone or not?

Someone in the group decided to go to UNC, but I believe they are a resident of North Carolina. So that should be some good news for any out of staters!

Im know one girl from our group just dropped GRU for UNC so someone may be getting a call soon.

Wish I could of gotten the call but I received my acceptance for UCSF and Im waiting to hear for others! Good luck to everyone in the process and go dawgs

Just received a call about being accepted - was on the alternate list, OOS. For those accepted, how much was the deposit? I have to let them know by Friday my decision.

$1000 for OOS. Congratulations! Join the Facebook group! I'll accept your group request!

It was $500 for IS and I believe it was $1000 for OOS.

Has anyone got in contact with admission over email recently? They haven't been responding to me...

Last time I emailed I didn't get a response and I know other people haven't gotten responses either. I always get someone by giving them a call!

Has anyone received an acceptance with below 200 hours of shadowing? I'm considering applying next year but will likely only have 140-160 hours of shadowing accumulated by then. Will this simply be a waste of time and money?

I was accepted OOS with only 100 hours of shadowing!

Thank you, I had heard 200 was the minimum but this is some good news. If you don't mind, what state are you from and what are your statistics? I know they don't take many OOS but as a South Carolinian I figure my odds are a tad better than most other OOSers based on their published class profiles.

Did you have your dentist write down the approximate number of hours of shadowing in your LOR?

I didn't specifically ask him to mention it, so I don't know if he did or not. Plus, I only shadowed him about 60 hours.

Alright thanks for your response. How many hours did you say you shadowed on your AADSAS application?

I want to know where i stand on the waitlist. Do you guys think it is appropriate to email dr hanes or mrs. Perry. I just don't want to annoy them.

What is the posibility of in state people dropping at this point?

Just call them and ask, they'll tell you. I called yesterday and she said the class is filled, but there might be more movement in May, because some students might be holding multiple acceptances.

I will thanks

Got an offer this morning off the OOS alternate list. Have till Friday to decide...

I will be declining the offer. I know it will go to another well deserving student 🙂 good luck all!
