The OFFICIAL "If I didn't want to be a doctor I would be..." Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Definitely a missionary pilot in some remote part of the world. 🙂

I'ld want to be a MotoGP racer.

Kneedragging BABY!!! :horns:

I think I could have a small business... making handmade soaps, lotions, body butter, etc.

I would do something in theater or journalism.. I still might.

they're not that bad.. definitely not like naturals, but you can learn to live with them..

I actually think I prefer silicone to the real ones.. those feel like bags of sand! Right?

Entrepreneur. And once I had a large enough passive income stream, it would free me up to write, travel, SCUBA dive, learn to pilot small planes, etc. Who knows how it would work out, but it would probably be fun.

definately an astronaut... or a super hero 🙂

Id work as a field epidemiologist for the CDC

or

become a meteorologist

and

open a no-kill rabbit shelter (although I may do that anyway still)

mmm rabbit tastes so good... I hope you'd have good security for your shelter.

How come pornstar hasn't popped up yet? Whats goin on SDN, too good for the classics?

Mythbuster.

Heck, I'd take any show on the Discovery Channel (except Crash Lab...that crap sucks).

Being a Mythbuster would be freakin' amazing. Oh man.

I'd be a pastry chef. I started culinary school in case the med school thing didn't work out. I don't know if I'd want to do the restaurant thing. I think I'd rather have a bakery and try to incorporate some molecular gastronomy.

Being a pro cyclist would be pretty cool, but I don't even turn pro in my dreams...

If I weren't to go into medicine (which would solely be to go into Pathology), I would either try to become a forensic scientist, pathologist's assistant, or something related to Microbiology...not sure though. All are still possibilities at the moment, as I'm not set on going to med school yet.

Ive secretly always wanted to be a Marine. Dont know why...lol
Id like to be a Ranger, actually.

Failing that, I could become a full time karate instructor.

Fisherman...not like commercial fisherman, but professional "bassmasters" style fisherman.

-Lawyer, possibly specializing in international business law
-Professor
-Mercenary, leading to being a dictator

Definitely a missionary pilot in some remote part of the world.

Good luck with that. Being a bush pilot in the US is dangerous enough, doing it in some Third World **** hole is like playing Russian roulette.

classical french hornist, preferably playing in a wind ensemble

man, i was talented. gave all that up for science and med school. it's hard to be an "amateur" musician (outside of school). no groups to play with and no one takes you seriously. 🙁

Maybe for french hornists... I'm glad I'm and "amateur" vocalist. Plenty of outlet for those. Yay for barbershop.

There really is nothing that can come close to matching my interest in medicine...
I guess the far distant alternatives would be
(a) Psychology PhD / professor at some university/liberal arts college.
or chemical engineer
or JD
or (b) coffee shop owner
or auto mechanic
or unemployed, pirating w4r3z from my parents' basement

realistically, with not much money and not medical-related, i would be an elementary school teacher.

with money not an issue and not med school related, any job where i can fly all over the world learning every language possible in my lifetime, the culture of every place i visit, and helping those less fortunate....

Better to ask it as "if you absolutely had to choose another career path, unrelated to medicine, money being no object, what would you do?" Otherwise, some people would still answer medicine (myself included).

I ask this sometimes. Only I say "If you couldn't do anything related to medicine, including medical research, nursing, dentistry, etc., what would you do?"

Zoologist

I'd have to go with Zoologist as well. Not sure what area I'd go into, though. Doing field work has been the most exciting/adventurous thing I've ever done. I worked around/lived on a wildlife refuge in south Texas for two months last year and will definitely do it again this summer. 👍

For some reason, I have always wanted to be a police man! Wouldn't that be so fun?

International Ambassador for Peace (if that is a job) ... or a yoga instructor 🙂

Spy
Sculptor

But a good spy makes it a habit to not be observed. Seems like that would make him/her awfully difficult to sculpt. Instead you should sculpt Galapagos tortoises. Not only are they super slow, but they already look so much like rocks that it wouldn't be too technically challenging. I think I would be a Galapagos tortoise.

A baker and a bakery owner. yum yum brownies 😀

I saw this guy on the news that was a professional ice cream taste tester from Edy's ice cream. I wouldn't mind doing that. If that doesn't work out then I would probably be:
-psychologist
-FBI profiler or
-pastry chef, owning my own bakery

A lumberjack.

Dead serious. Build my own cabin in the woods, try and train a bear.

I'd probably be involved in Theater or move to Hollywood to become an actress.🙂

If I don't become a doctor then I will become a lawyer that sues doctors.

Zoologist

Heck yes! Thats what Im talking about either that or enviromental biologist travel around the world, have my own TV show on Discovery or Animal PLanet. Much like the Jeff Corwin Experience.

I figure I have high hopes in going to Med. School how is that much different from having my own TV show.

A meter maid for a parking authority. Nothing would amuse me more than pissing people off over parking tickets...haha.

O and I would purposely search for the cars of my foes and get ticket happy!

College chemistry professor.

Urban planner / developer with tons of money so that all my (and other people's) excellent ideas make it off the page and into reality.

For some reason, I have always wanted to be a police man! Wouldn't that be so fun?

Doing this all day would be so much fun

Sports Management, Meteorology, or just for fun..Professional Bass Fisherman
