Just signed up for this test this morning. I wanted to take on 4/27, but alas that didn't work out.

I've been studying for about three weeks now. Who else is taking the test on the 11th?

AAMC Avg: 28
AAMC Actual: 10/8/8.
My AAMC 11 was a 26.
What in the world. I thought I BOMBED PS and thought I did good on VR and BS. COMPLETE OPPOSITE!?!?!

Though I'll take this score. NOVAs Average is 27---so that's a bit worrysome.

Overall--ehh. I was prob 1-2 questions away from a 9 on BS. Verbal--that's just disappointing.

Kaplan avg: 38
AAMC acg: 37
Post-test prediction: 36 (12/12/12)
Actual: 38 (13/11/14)

SO PUMPED. Almost perfectly hit my averages, who knew?

Wow, congrats on the great score and beating your predictions!
You took the Kaplan course I assume?

Distraught.... I don't think I can take this exam again but I'm going to have to with a 3.6 GPA....

Kaplan avg: 30
AAMC avg: 31
Actual: 28 (8/9/11)

I can't believe it i was expecting at least a 30

AAMC avg: 23.9
Prediction: 23
Actual: 27 (7,10,10)

I thought I BOMBED BS and killed PS, got the complete opposite. Also, never scored a 10 on BS in any of my practice tests. Congrats to everyone else.

Edit: This goes to show, your post-test predictions/ feelings are not always right.
For future MCATers:
My prep: EK complete set, EK 101 verbal, Kaplan classroom course and TPR (cracking the MCAT). It is my opinion that Kaplan FL's (specifically after 5) are helpful (exclusively in BS) to preparing for the MCAT. This is just my opinion. AAMC 11 was probably the closest, but again, my breakdown for AAMC 11 was (9, 8, 7).

Nice PATEL!

Lol srsly this test is hilarious. I'm actually Loling right now.

Woot for being done!

AAMC average: 31 (11PS, 9VR, 11BS)

Prediction: 29 (10PS, 9VR, 10BS)

Actual: 26 (10PS, 6VR, 10BS)

I have absolutely no idea what happened on VR. I never scored that low on a practice test, and I didn't feel any worse coming out of the test than I did on most practices. Whatever.

gah.

PS - 10
VS - 9
BS - 9

Total: 28

I'm surprised i did better on PS than BS. I swear I guessed one passage on PS completely. Sigh. I might have to retake though I don't think I can really go anywhere with this score at this point.

congrats everyone!!!!! i just look at my score
AAMC average: 12/7/12---31
prediction: 10/6/13 ---29
Actual: 12/8/12--- 32

MCAT Prep Material: EK content review and 1001 books, BR orgo, gen chem, bio, and physics, EK 101 passages in verbal reasoning, AAMC FL's 4-11
AAMC Average: 33.1
Prediction: 32
Actual: 35 :soexcited:

Other information: My AAMC FL scores ranged from 31-36, with a mean of 33 and a mode of 31. My actual score is the same as my score on AAMC 11. This is my second attempt at the MCAT. I took my first one in May of 2011 and got a score of 28, using Kaplan and PR materials.

So happy, ya'll! Congrats to everyone who got what they wanted/needed. Good luck to anyone who knows they'll be retaking!

That would be consistent with your username. But really, way to be done everyone. Keep the scores coming so that May 18thers like me can live vicariously as we await our death.

Practice Avg (mixed aamc and Kaplan): 35
Actual: 37
12/12/13

although whenever i did poorly on practices it was because i was tired/hungry.

For those waiting on scores- STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. Go to the gym, pick up a new hobby, work on other parts of the app, or start drinking because calculating and predicting will only lead to stress and paranoia. Seriously, I was having massive anxiety because I wouldn't stop thinking about the test. Do yourself a favor and leave this thread.

Why don't you tell us the STDV as well? Lol... Congrats on a great score!

I'm not sure what all the confusion is about regarding ending the test. You should have received a physical document, with signed stamp and everything when you complete the exam. Did you not receive one before bouncing?

I took the 4/26, voided it, and retook it today. My impressions:

PS: Easier than 4/26, but that said, I still had like 15 questions marked at the end, 3-4 random guesses and 11 or so not confident.

Verbal: Much harder than 4/26. I almost entirely guessed on the next to last passage because I was running out of time. The first passage was also very dense and didn't make very much sense.

Bio: About the same as 4/26. The first passage was the only one I had trouble with. Not my best performance, but not my worst either. Some of those discretes were really weird.

I can't even predict how I did numerically, but probably worse than AAMC average on PS and Verbal, and maybe on par with Bio. Maybe low 30s, which I'm not ectastic about. They really need to update the AAMC practice exams.

So....the piper has been payed. I avoided putting an exact prediction on my numbers because I didn't want to jinx myself.

I'll definitely say that my actual scores were nothing like what I predicted coming out of that exam. I thought I bombed the PS and V, and creamed the BS section. Nothing could have been further from the truth.

AAMC Average: 35.375 (PS-12.25, V-10.75, BS-12.375)

REAL DEAL: 35 (PS-13, V-11, BS-11) :boom:

What the hell happened to BS!? Oh well.

Stoked about the total and it's all fairly balanced. Came in slightly under my AAMC average of ALL exams, and way under my average of the last three.

For all of those still waiting on their scores. Trust the AAMC average. I seriously doubted this wisdom when I was stalking every other thread on the issue. But yeah, it will be your best indicator of your actual performance. You can take a look at my actual scores from the practice AAMCs by going through my MDapps link. Good luck! No more MCAT for me! :soexcited:

Ok I need help, my BS and PS scores are good...but I got a 1 in VR, that's right a "one"! How likely is this a mistake?? I didn't even do that poor on my first practice exam...help.

Man, I am a little disappointed.

My FLs averages: ~35

Actual: 33, PS:13, VR: 8, BS: 12

I thought I had a shot at VR = 10, but oh well, being a foreigner and only studied for a month, I got what I deserved.

Good luck to others.

Kaplan avg: 37 (took an in-person Kaplan prep course)
AAMC avg: 37.67
Post-test prediction: 33 (11/11/11) - 39 (13/13/13) --basically, no clue, but felt even.
Actual: 33 (11/11/11)

I think the biggest problem with AAMC right now is that practice tests 3-9 are essentially worthless. 10 is questionable, and 11 is probably the most valuable. Unfortunately for me, I got a 41 on AAMC 9, but a 35 on 10 and a 34 on 11. Those were by far the most indicative of the tests, which are constantly and dramatically changing in nature.

Also, re: my subsection scores, my PS ranged from 12-15, my verbal from 13-15 (except for 1 12), and my BS ranged from 11-15. It is frustrating that I scored below all of my ranges, or at the bottom of them, on all of the sections. I would emphasize for future test-takers to keep taking tests until you are consistent, although I studied for 3 months beforehand. My totals varied from 35-41--and you see how well that served me on test day.

I totally agree with you. My practice ranges were PS 13-14, V 9-10, BS 12-13. I ended up with a (11/8/12). I felt like there were a lot of stand alone-type physical science questions that I may have studied if I thought the test was going to be more difficult or thorough.. but the practices have always been relatively straight forward for me, and I've scored well.

I think by making the exams more challenging (or at least different) than the current MCAT exams, it favors people who have recently completed the pre-med coursework, and counts against those who just prepared for this exam. For example, I'm 23 and haven't taken a lot of the basic science courses since high school or freshman year. So I only prepared at the depth that the old practice tests required.

Now the question is to retake or not to retake? If I retake next month, may I'll get a 33-36, my practice AAMC range. But I may get the same score, and have wasted a lot of time and money. So maybe my best bet is to just get my secondaries in ASAP.

AAMC average:

To be honest, I never really took a full practice test but rather took practice sections. I'd average around a 13 on the Physical Sciences, 10-11 on Verbal Reasoning, and 12-13 on the Biological Sciences.

Post-Test Prediction:

PS - I felt really good about the first half of this section until I realized that I was running out of time towards the end (thanks in part to a certain problem). Some of the discreet questions tripped me up, so I put down my best guess and moved forward. Definitely rounded a lot of numbers to make the calculations easier, but doing so made me uncomfortable. I predicted that I got anywhere from a 9 to a 13.

VR - Verbal is verbal... No matter how good or bad I feel about this section, I normally end up getting a 10.

BS - I felt very confident on this section. Predicted between 13-15.

Actual:

PS - 11
VR - 10
BS - 14

Total (35)

I ended up getting in off the wait-list this cycle, so it's sort of bittersweet.

If you guys have any questions, feel free to shot me a message.

Good luck to everyone!

Adios.

Average practice test after studying, 33-36
Actual Score: 34
V10

I hoped for a 35, but this score will work for me.

IT'S FINALLY OVER!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish I could "like"this post.

Also, I promised myself I would never get on these forums. Yet here I am.

Ok I need help, my BS and PS scores are good...but I got a 1 in VR, that's right a "one"! How likely is this a mistake?? I didn't even do that poor on my first practice exam...help.

Request a re-score. It is certainly worth a shot. Mistakes can be made.

Hey guys! I've been somewhat of a lurker but wanted to share my scores with you all.

AAMC scores:

AAMC 3
12, 11, 11 34
AAMC 4
11, 12, 10 33
AAMC 5

Expected: 11, 11, 12 (34)
Actual: 9, 11, 14 (34)

I ended up getting my predicted score except the PS and BS being kind of skewed. Think it might have been nerves in the beginning since I haven't scored below 10 on PS before. Oh well! You guys think this score distribution might hurt me?

Regardless, relieved to finally get our scores back! 🙂

Average Practice - 38.2
Prediction- 37
Actual- 39!!

Are you ESL? I don't even see how it would be possible to score a one unless you simply don't understand the english language, but even guessing would get you something, I assume. I would definitely request a regrade.

Study Material - Kaplan MCAT books

AAMC average: I was getting around 28-31 on the AAMC. PS seemed to be my best section

Post-Test Prediction: I felt awful about PS. I had so many marked for review but I didn't really have time by the end of it to even review one of them. Verbal was Verbal, and Bio was a little bit harder than I thought

Actual
PS - 10
VR - 10
BS - 11
Total - 31

yay! That's good right? I was expecting lower than a 29 and I was getting really worried. I also realized that one of the PS sections that I thought was really complicated was really simple once I exited the test...

Laughing Man, the exact same thing happened to me!! I was so thrown off and disappointed by PS and I thought I did quite well on verbal and bio and it turned out I scored a couple points above my avg. on PS and a couple points below on bio! I guess it just goes to show these things are hard to predict.

Alright now my stuff
Diagnostic: 21
Kaplan tests (dont remember which ones): 28, 30, 34, 30, 34
AAMC tests (dont remember which ones): 29, 30
Test day prediction: 31 (9/10/12)

ACTUAL: 33 (12/10/11)

Woohooooo! No retake needed!!!!! 😀😀😀

should i retake?

9,9,14

I had a huge ordeal with my testing center before I started and I avg. around 34 on aamc and kaplan

No I'm not ESL, although right now I kind of wish I was. I think I'll go through the re-score process...

That's really really good! Same here about PS (although I took the 5/23 test). Hopefully I can have results similar to yours 😛 Congratulations 🙂

PS: 10
V: 11
BS: 11
Total: 32

Not ecstatic but not bummed! Fairly pleased haha and glad that's balanced. 🙂 Going to retake in July though--the score's close, but not close enough for my top pick.

What do you guys think? I'm going to apply with this score but say that I'm going to retake. Does anyone know if that delays the process at all? Also, I have a pretty high GPA -- 3.93 and lots of leadership/extracurriculars.

((Oh and to those wondering: I felt meh about PS and pretty good on V + BS.))

should i retake?

9,9,14

I had a huge ordeal with my testing center before I started and I avg. around 34 on aamc and kaplan

It's tough because you have a really great overall score that is typically too good to re-score but the 9's aren't out of the question.

How confident are you that you can improve the other two while keeping the 14 in BS? Because if you were to go to a 10, 10, 12.. it's a waste of a re-test.

Conventional wisdom says that if you scored +/- 2 points from your AAMC average, you shouldn't retake.. but end of the day, it all goes to how confident you are in your ability to go an extra mile next time around.

AAMC Range: 30-34, Average 32
Examkracker prep course
Previous real MCAT: 10V 09P 10B ----> 29R

May 11 real MCAT: 10V 09P 12B ----> 31

So happy to finally be over the magical 30 mark. ~80th percentile, I'll take it.

Congrats everyone!

I'm devastated. I felt pretty good walking out of the test site despite the broken AC and the heated room. I thought I could forever say goodbye to all my prep materials and this test...

I was expecting a 31.

Prep: Kaplan review plus AAMC tests
Actual: 29 (10/10/9)

BS used to be my strongest suit. I don't know what happened. I don't know how I can improve.

Ok I need help, my BS and PS scores are good...but I got a 1 in VR, that's right a "one"! How likely is this a mistake?? I didn't even do that poor on my first practice exam...help.

Yeah, a 1 in VR sounds ridiculous. What were you getting on the AAMC FL's? If you were scoring 5-6 then it's plausible, if you were hitting 9-10 then I seriously doubt you got a 1. Rescoring is worth it either way.

Its funny how most of the people here got 35+ while the national average is 25 usually. Any way to people who scored 30 or below dont beat your self up. If you need to retake just do it. Don't let these scores affect you
