***The Official NYU Class of 2019 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Hey Guys!

I also got waitlisted for NYU and I REALLYYYYY want to go there. I am getting so nervous that I'll be that one oddball that gets on the WL and gets denied....Seeing how many of you are posting here worries me as well.... Is there anyway we can find out how many seats are left open, etc...?

Also, When you called Dr. Mejia what did you guys talk about? I always found it very awkward to just call and blurt out my interest without coaxing it into the conversation....

Ummm so I know nothing about NYC as far as what areas should I be looking for apartments in. I'd appreciate it if someone could give some information regarding housing around NYU. Like for example what area (or what specific apartments) do NYU students usually stay at? when is it ideal to visit New York to potentially sign a lease for August? oh and I think I'm going to need a roommate too. Thanks

I'm looking in the Gramercy Park area its a short walk to NYU, I've heard Waterside is good but it's pretty expensive. Realtor told to start looking in May or June for August move in. I think if you join the NYU Facebook page people will be looking for roommates. NYU is also going to send housing info when you sign up for your email address with them. We will all be in the same situation trying to figure out this stuff so I think people will share what they learn as we go along. Look thru past threads on the topic too there were recommendations on Apartments like Waterside and Kipps Bay.

Thanks for the info. I haven't got to sign up for the email yet, I'm still waiting to get my package in the mail. Are one bedroom/studios affordable in the Gramercy Park area?

Anyone hear anything from the march 16 interview?

Hey! Yeah I remember. I haven't heard anything. Thought for sure mejia said by Friday (20th) or Monday (23rd). Hope to hear something soon.

Seems like waterside, kips bay, Peter cooper and stuy town are where most students live first year... A little expensive but convenient for first years crazy schedule.

Yea same ! Did anyone respond to your thank you emails ?

Nope. Well Dr mejia responded to my email that I sent to her email address. Other than that though nothing. You?

Same here, what did she respond to you ? I'm nervous lol !

I sent her an email the day after my interview that started with, "As you may know I interviewed on March 16 and while it was only yesterday I was completely blown away by NYU and everything they have to offer." She responded with, " Thank you for your email. It was great to share our program with you and I am glad you had a positive visit. We will be in touch with a status soon."

you guys have been emailing her directly and not to the adcoms?

with tomorrow being the deadline for the second deposit, i assume we can anticipate some movement in the next few weeks.

Her email is on the NYUCD website and I personally wanted to tell her what I thought of the school.

Does NYU still offer scholarship at this point?
I can't say for sure but I would think they will have money available as people with scholarship offers give up their seats. I remember dr mejia saying at the interview that after the class is finalized she goes through and looks at everyone (GPa, dat, etc) to give scholarships, so I would say more are coming?

Decided to give up my spot. By far the hardest decision I had to make given my family, friends and gf are in NYC.

Whoever gets it, enjoy it. NYC has been good to me.

Where are you headed? Good luck!

UB. I was treated real well up there and I kept hearing a lot of positive things from older dentists about it. I would have been commuting to NYU(40-1hour) while in UB I could potentially walk across the street to the school. I had that during undergrad and it was worth gold.

No nothing is really cheap near NYU but I found a few places that were cheaper than most.

your best bet is to find a place in stuyvesant town, kips bay, or waterside plaza. you get the best bang for your buck. if you find an upperclassmen, you guys can split referral $$ so it's pretty nice.

Hey !! Not sure if you remember but it's the girl from bk. I haven't heard anything back yet, have you?
I interviewed the same day! I was was the last guy that interviewed (you all clapped when I came back because of how long it was, haha). I also haven't heard back from them 🙁

Haha that was too great ! I don't think anyone from our group heard back yet 🙁

I'm going to be giving up my spot...hope one of you great people get it! NYU is awesome ...it's a tough choice! Good luck everyone!

Wow I didn't expect to hear that! Best of luck to you though and thank you.

Did anyone get the welcome pack that was supposed to be emailed to us this week?

Can't even describe the amount of anxiety I'm having... I wonder if we'll start hearing back today?

The other thing is according to ADEA April 1st is the deadline for students with multiple deposits to decide which school they're going to. Perhaps we won't hear until after that?

Possibly. There will be a big movement in the waitlist because the 2nd deposit was due 3/27(postmarked).

I would think it might be a few days to hear since checks had to be postmarked on Friday... Meaning they will probably still be coming in for the next few days..
