*** The Official RUTGERS Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Hey ywcywc,
You should have received an email from Christine Melendez the next day clarifying questions people had about the forms and she said "
***Please note: The Essential Functions form is not included in the packet of forms that was emailed out to you.

You will receive instructions regarding the Essential Function form at a later date."
Hope that helps! 🙂
I had the same questions lol !!

Are we supposed to receive some sort of acceptance packet in the mail or did the email contain all the documents we need? If so, has anyone received one?

They have already interviewed a lot of people. Im sure their waitlist is pretty long as well. They said they don't get much movement on the waitlist. I'm waitlisted myself

For all of the forms, do we need to have everything filled out before our schools close? I think mine closes Christmas Eve or the day before but won't reopen until the same day all of this is due. I wanted to use the break to think it over but I guess we need to have everything filled out before the holidays so our schools can fill it out and send it to them?

Has anyone with december interviews heard anything back yet?

Me too, do you remember if they said when we would? I'm pretty sure they said not for awhile

yeah i already got it lol, I'm gonna call tomorrow, but what you said about tufts makes me feel a little better, i was literally like breaking down inside , I've worked so hard and all my everything is so great, physics is literally the worst class I've ever taken, and everyone at my school fails this prof, I'm lucky i got the grade i did haha
haha yikes. I feel you bro.
Also, even if they don't accept it, you can retake it right? Let us know what they tell you! I'm curious.

Yup I remember someone asked and they just said "be patient, not for a while" lol I'm assuming sometime in the beginning of January hopefully!

Did you call? What did they say?

So I called today and they have received transcripts and disciplinary disclosure forms, but haven't received my deposit which was mailed Monday (I live 30 minutes away). Not sure if this has happened to anyone else but they said mail was pretty hectic and to call back on January 4th (the day the deposit is due). Kind of stressful but if it's not there on the fourth it looks like I'm driving to Newark and hand delivering my deposit.

Didn't know that was possible.. What about the form they ask you to send with the deposit?

Okay and instead of sending that form with a check you paid over the phone?

i sent that form for the first payment and the background one, the first deposit form also functions as you accepting the spot i would imagine, which is why i still sent it lol, but i paid over the phone

FINALLY! Interview Invite next Friday! Any tips?
Congratulations! Are you from the NJ area? I stayed at a hotel ~10-15 minute drive from the dental school, and uber-ed there for around $6-7. Otherwise you can ask the front desk of the hotel to call a taxi and give you a quote for the pricing prior to departure. Be firm with the pricing! I was quoted $8, and the driver tried to charge me $15.

Be sure to get there between 30-60 minutes before the interview. They shuffle you into a big conference room after check-in, and the faculty (also the interviewers) + dental students trickle in to interact with the interviewees to answer any questions, so the earlier you get there, the better. During our interview day, they provided us with bagels. Definitely try them!

I can't speak for other interviewers, but Dr. Guzy knew my AADSAS application and personal statement extremely well. Right when we sat down, he started sorting through 3 pages worth of hand-written notes about my application. It wasn't meant to be intimidating, they just have a genuine interest in getting to know you and your story. He had plenty of questions about my timeline and sequence of life events and used the interview time to get some clarification. Other than the standard "why dentistry", "why Rutgers" questions, it was just a casual conversation. Everyone was great. All the faculty members seemed enthusiastic and kind. You're going to love it. 🙂

There is a campus shuttle that can drop you off at a main station (I think Penn Station?), if you plan to go elsewhere after the interview. NY is only a 1.5 hour ride away, so I decided to spend a few days there afterwards. If you think you'll be using the bus service, the Admissions Office will hand you a form that allows you a free ride.

Good luck!

Thank you for the helpful reply! I live in NJ about 40 minutes away so transportation will not be an issue. I will make sure to get there very early! I should definitely look over my application too.

Do you think there are a lot of spots left? Do you think they interview a lot of people this late? Regardless I have a better chance than before. My fingers will be crossed. Thanks again!

Someone had told me that Rutgers stopped interviewing fairly early in the fall pending offer acceptances/declines in January. However I don't know how accurate that is.

My deadline for the deposit was 1/4/16, so I'm assuming they are now interviewing for the spots that were turned down from 12/1 offers. I would think your chances are just as good as someone interviewing pre December. ~3 interviewees for every spot.

I am trying to decide where to live in dorm or live off-campus. Anyone down? I am a guy btw
