Congratulations! Are you from the NJ area? I stayed at a hotel ~10-15 minute drive from the dental school, and uber-ed there for around $6-7. Otherwise you can ask the front desk of the hotel to call a taxi and give you a quote for the pricing prior to departure. Be firm with the pricing! I was quoted $8, and the driver tried to charge me $15.
Be sure to get there between 30-60 minutes before the interview. They shuffle you into a big conference room after check-in, and the faculty (also the interviewers) + dental students trickle in to interact with the interviewees to answer any questions, so the earlier you get there, the better. During our interview day, they provided us with bagels. Definitely try them!
I can't speak for other interviewers, but Dr. Guzy knew my AADSAS application and personal statement extremely well. Right when we sat down, he started sorting through 3 pages worth of hand-written notes about my application. It wasn't meant to be intimidating, they just have a genuine interest in getting to know you and your story. He had plenty of questions about my timeline and sequence of life events and used the interview time to get some clarification. Other than the standard "why dentistry", "why Rutgers" questions, it was just a casual conversation. Everyone was great. All the faculty members seemed enthusiastic and kind. You're going to love it. 🙂
There is a campus shuttle that can drop you off at a main station (I think Penn Station?), if you plan to go elsewhere after the interview. NY is only a 1.5 hour ride away, so I decided to spend a few days there afterwards. If you think you'll be using the bus service, the Admissions Office will hand you a form that allows you a free ride.
Good luck!
