I got in!!!! My first choice too! Congratulations to everyone!!! Hello future classmates!!!!

Was your status check beck on dec 1 before it was offer made? Has anyone got an offer from invited from interview status?

Offer made this morning! Going to be a tough decision, but I think I'm leaning towards Temple.

CONGRATS! if ANYONE has any questions on anything related to temple ( housing, student life, etc), please PM me.

Does anyone know when the majority of first round acceptances are for Temple? Out of my 3 interviews, this was the one I was looking forward to getting a call from the most. Come on, Brian! Accept me! I know you love checking out SDN. give me a call. I could've gone to the Eagles MNF game, but I showed some Temple love instead. 🙂
(Call me)

I'm in!!!! Now the tough choice...which school BU or Temple?? :scared:

Congratulations everyone 🙂 I received the acceptance email yesterday at 1:00 pm.

I'm in!!!! Now the tough choice...which school BU or Temple?? :scared:

I can give you some insight on Temple:
1. Temple total cost over 4 years: 304K. BU= 347K
2. We are known for our enormous patient pool and clinical education. BU is not ( from the rumors around SDN,BU's reputation may be polar to Temples in regards to its clinical education. A friend of mine that interviewed there had also mentioned that some of the rumors on SDN are true: hard time finding patients, etc).
3. My first semester has been great so far, and I hear from the upperclassmen that the 1st year isnt too bad, especially relative to most dental schools. BUT 2nd year gets very tough(similar to most schools). I have had time to go out atleast twice a week ( meeting up with friends, etc).
4. SO FAR(key words), the class has been great, everyone is very helpful.
5. Temple has class capture ( video recorded lectures), very helpful incase you miss a lecture or want to review what the Professor said.
6. Class size at both schools are very similar.BU's class size might be a bit smaller.
7. The Professors from my first semester are very helpful, they have made it a point that they want all of us to do well and pass. This is has been evident by certain points being fairly given back to us if we challenge a certain question and in other scenarios.
8. BU is located in a very nice area, especially relative to Temple. Temple is not in the nicest area, but its also safe on the street the school is located on. Many students live atleast 10-25 min away from the school in very safe areas. The city of Philly is also very nice.

Hope this helps. You should receive feedback from a BU student as well to get a fair comparison.

thanks Bing! I'll find someone to help me out. I think the biggest concern now is which school will offer the best opportunity to specialize

those statistics are fairly difficult to come by. If you could find them that would be great. I would guess that at most schools, you will have a similar probability of landing a specialty. There are a handful of schools that are more known for that, such as Columbia,Harvard,UCLA,UPenn, etc. Main point is that you can specialize from any school if you work hard enough. The only thing I can offer from Temple is that I remember Brian mentioning that 3 of the 6 available ortho spots were given to Temple last year. Not sure if that helps or if its relevant, but its the only info I have on specialties.

Also, dont go into school thinking you are absolutely only going to specialize, because chances are unless you are top 10-15% of your class ( an extremely difficult task), you will likely not end up specializing. In that case, you will want to be well prepared for general dentistry.

Did anyone that interviewed at Temple on Nov 29th receive an acceptance??

Congratulations to everybody who already has and will be getting acceptances over the next few months. You've made it past the tough part, now enjoy the summer and prepare for an amazing four years.

Temple ASDA would like to welcome you to our little neck of the dental community and take a moment to let you know that if you have any questions about Temple, need advice in making a decision (we may be a little biased but we'll always be honest), or would like a really great tip on where to get the perfect Philly Cheese Steak, please feel free to post a reply or send us a message. We're here to help you in this crazy process.

Above is the link to the official Temple C/O 2016 Facebook group. Feel free to join up and start talking to each other. This is a great way to meet possible future roommates, ask questions about what you should be doing to get ready (do very little and just enjoy every second of it), and lots of other things that you can figure out on your own.

Good luck with your decision making and we hope you come to Temple.

hey guys! im in the 3+4 year track and had my interview mid-November and still haven't heard back. My adviser told me that I have a strong application and a very good chance of getting accepted. Does anyone know when I could expect further acceptances to be given out? Thanks!

Did your portal change before you got your email acceptance???

Temple is the choice for me! Yeah! Can't wait 🙂 Thanks for posting that facebook group, I'll join.

For those that interviewed before December 1, Brian said a good number of applicants that
interviewed then have not heard back and that more acceptances will be going out. No specifications though for when the next round will be going out though.. I'm getting a little antsy since I interviewed in September and haven't heard buutt just got to keep crossing those fingers! Temple's my #1 choice!

Sending in my deposit today!!!

Brian said they've received 80 deposits so far, so ~40 more to go!

I remember when I got the letter saying I got into Temple.
Those were the days.
Dental school is a fun time. It is what you make of it. If you want to specialize the opportunities are there, if you want to do general dentistry, the place to learn is at temple.
I know I graduated from Temple dental school.

Just got the email yesterday at 5 in the afternoon! See you all in the Fall!

Brian Hahn called me yesterday! if you're reading this Brian, thank you soooo much! Now I can stop agonizing over these blogs!

Got the email 2 days ago and sent the check the next day......I called yesterday and they said 90 checks received so far....Now I can finally relax and be happy knowing that I will stay a'][' home swee'][' home! love you Brian

I'm in 🙂) got my acceptance email Wednesday! Brian is just Awesome!

Can you guys post your scores and stats. My daughter has not even gotten an interview anywhere. She did poorly on the DAT, an 18. She says a post bac will not help, as she has taken all the courses. She plans on reapplying, and possibly retaking the DAT. But she has a strong GPA from a top school.:scared:

I was in her same situation last year. Bottom line is that she needs to start studying to retake the DAT now.

Last year I got a. 18 with a good GPA at a top school, kept waiting and waiting for an interview, and had to end up reapplying. 2nd time was the charm for me!

Got acceptance email yesterday....rejecting though because i'm going 2 umdnj

DAT is essential, but an 18 is still pretty good. Some schools accept a 17 and a few years ago that was an unheard of score. Students I talked to at some of the schools that were in their 3rd year said they only scored 16s in some of their sections and that was a great score at the time, but I guess it's just an indication that it's getting more competitive.

I scored a 21 overall, 19 Science, 20 PAT, 19 QR, and a 30 in Reading Comp.
I wasn't a science major either, so I had huge doubts about getting accepted! Keep the faith, there is still lots of time! Good luck to your daughter!

Congrats! 👍

About how long after the interview does the status usually change?

Does anyone know when the next acceptances are going out?

I think the current acceptances have to decide and send their decision in by February 24th, so I'm not sure if they will be sending out more acceptances until they all come in or if they will send them out as people turn down their offers to Temple. I sure hope that some more of us get accepted for this cycle!

I am in !!!! so excited, hello future classmates! I got an acceptance email this morning 🙂

I interviewed on November 1st. I waited forever for it.
Ah that's so exciting that your waiting is finally over! I just interviewed recently, so I sure hope I can get an acceptance. Hopefully the waiting isn't too long!

Hi everyone,

I was just curious if anyone knew any other details about the process at Temple and how many slots are still open compared to a few weeks ago. I'm wondering if they are sending out a wave of acceptances or if they will be sending them out one by one as each person either accepts or rejects their offer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

I'm super excited about the thought of attending Temple for school, so I certainly hope that more acceptances are on their way!

Hey, I just recently decided to send in my deposit and attend Temple in the Fall.

Does anyone have any idea about where we can get more information about the academic calendar and what we need to know about academic and student orientation?
Also, do we need to start collecting teeth?

lastly, does anyone know Philadelphia well and have any ideas where would be a good place to live?
