I received an email the other day stating "Congratulations, you have been selected as an interview candidate for the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry 2013 admission cycle!"
I completed the supplemental and appropriate online paperwork, does this mean my interview is 100% guaranteed or is it pending review of the supplemental? Thank you in advance

Are you in or out of state? What batch were in?

I received the same e-mail. You're definitely getting an interview! Recently they sent around an e-mail saying the faculty hadn't given them enough dates, so hopefully they'll form a schedule pretty quick so we can find out when we interview!

Do you know what the UK status on the "School Decisions" page for AADSAS was when you got the interview invite? Mine has said Received/Waiting Additional Information for a couple weeks now. I have gotten the email saying that my app payment was received and I am trying to figure out if I should call and bug them haha

Received choice of interview dates yesterday. Where are you traveling from and which date did you designate for your first choice? Im an OOS applicant, which airport is the cheapest to fly into...as a last resort i'd drive

TunaMan, was that the first date available (the 30th)? Or were there other dates at the end of August as well? I'm not sure which is the cheapest airport or anything about the area. If you do find out though, I'd appreciate some insight please. Thank you.

They gave about 12 dates between aug 28th and sept28th, I chose the earlier ones. Where are you flying in from? I might just end up driving and making a road-trip out of it. Airports- theres louisville, lexington, cleveland...all were pretty pricey

Yeah I definitely want the end of August dates, because my semester starts September 4th so it'd be ideal to have a date before then. Thing is, I can't finish my supplemental until early Monday morning. I'm not sure if it's on a first come first served basis? I'm coming from New Jersey, but I looked at the prices and they're REALLY expensive compared to other places. It'd be a 12 hour drive for me though one way :/ not sure what to do.

Maybe submit your supplemental and take a later date, see if any of your local schools invite you for interviews...have you heard from any other schools?

Yeah I have, but haven't heard anything from my state school. I wouldn't want a later date at all. I'd be looking at anything before September 4th hopefully.

- Just understood why you told me to pick a later date, so I could save the money for this interview in case I hear something from a school that's closer and more affordable to interview at. It took me a little haha. I guess that makes sense, but out of the ones I've heard from, Kentucky would be my top choice so far. How about you? Anything from other schools?

Do any of you guys know of a cheap/close hotel to the school? And yes, definitely the flight is expensive... I wish I can find a better deal soon...

check cheaptickets, there were rates ranging from 49-200/night

I got the same status in my aadsas as well but Im pretty sure they have everything they have requested up to this point.

I was recently sent a list of dates and all of them were on Tuesday's, Thursday's and fridays

When did you apply? do you mind sharing if you are from KY or Out of State?
Thanks and good luck! 🙂

Hi, I submitted my AADSAS on the 13th of July, and my app fee on 23rd of July. I am from California.
Good luck to you,too. 🙂
The waiting process is quite frustrating 😎

To any of you who recently received the interview dates list, do you mind sharing the dates that you were offered? I'm still waiting on the list over here :/

I know this waiting is killing me! I submitted my application on July 20th and still haven't heard anything. Hope to be asked for an interview though. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks for responding! :🙂

Question: What are the highlights of Kentucky U? Why would you choose Kentucky over other schools? What makes Kentucky different from other schools? Thanks!!

Hey congratulations...if you dont mind can you plz share your dat stats. Just wanna see where I stand. thanks and good luck!

I received an interview invite two days after emailing them my DAT report sheet. Submitted the supplement a week later and got a reply the next business day about interview dates. They confirmed my date the day after I sent my preferred list.

The confirmation form is the last thing I have to send them. Does anyone know if it's better to submit this now or closer to the interview date?

It is amazing how dead this thread is, I guess it is because of how incredibly few interviews they give.

I guess hardly any invitations, or no one reports them.
What are the OOS statistics of acceptance, if anyone knows?

Class size is extremely small. This may be why. Accept 40 resident and 17 nonresident but are expanding class size to 70 next year!

I'm interviewing here at UK tomorrow morning at 8 am. Been touring campus all day..it's beautiful! Would love to go here. Anyone else had an invite or coming for one soon? I'm from Michigan.

I am also from Michigan. My dad is a UK alum (law school) and I was born there. Great school and great place to live.

Just received a dec interview...Any idea what's the format (Panel or 1on1)?

Hey there. Had my interview 9/11. It's usually a small group of invites each day (there were 6 including myself). There are 2 one on one interviews - one academic and one non-academic/personal (your grades are blacked out on your application for the non-academic interviewer). First you get an orientation (power point presentation about the school from the Asst. Dean of Admissions Christine Harper) then off to interviews. Come back for a financial overview with Don Brown and then a tour of the school with a student or two on the committee. Last, is a lunch (pizza) with some dental students who are also on the committee. 🙂 Good luck!

Oh and btw there are 40 resident spots and they are expanding from 17 to 25 out of state spots as of this cycle, making a total of 65 students. They are also remodeling the student lab (D-611) and it should be ready for next August. It's supposed to be very nice/high tech!

Thank you! Really helpful info!

Any other UK applicants out there? How did interviews go for those that have already interviewed? This wait for December 3rd is awful! Lol

I interviewed there and I wa extremely impressed by everyone involved with the process. Several professors went out of their way to talk to us, and the interviewers were very pleasant. I ended up just having conversations with both of them, no difficult or tricky questions.

The only unfortunate thing keeping them from being my number 1 (assuming I even get accepted) is the OOS cost. UNC or ECU would be much more affordable, but in the long term I think that I would get a great deal of value, regardless of cost, from a dental education at UK.

So I am also anxiously awaiting Dec 3! Haha.

My interviews were very laid back as well - just a relaxed conversation. Anyway, I've never checked out OOS costs elsewhere as I only applied to UK and I'm in state. But I am sure UK will give you a great dental education regardless of tuition costs. 😉

Anyone else just get a Check back December 3rd message??? I'm an OOS and I'm torn between Kentucky and one other school. Either way, really hoping this is a good sign!
