****The Official U of Kentucky Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

I'm excited to meet everyone in the upcoming class! It's going to be an interesting experience, and I can't wait!

Dentdog, really struggling with the UK UL decision. Mind sharing what pulled you one way toward UK?

Trust me I know how you feel. I was actually leaning towards UofL at first. There really isn't anything you can say bad about either school. What actually pushed me towards UK in the end was the class size and Lexington, everything else between each school seemed very even. I really liked the fact that it was a smaller class size, that way you could get to know your classmates better, and all the students that I have talked to that are enrolled in UK say that all their classes are so helpful to each other, not cut throat at all. The other factor was Lexington. I'm from a rural area so the times that I have visited Lexington, it has felt like home away from home. Those 2 factors were ultimately what led me to choose UK. Like I said I believe you can't go wrong with either school, in the end you just have to decide where you would be more comfortable at. I know dental school will be stressful anywhere you go, but I wanted to try to find the place where I would be most comfortable while going through that process. Hope this helps!

Definitely helps. Ill be sure to let you know if we are future classmates before January ! 🙂

Does anybody know the details of the waitlist? Do they rank it? When do they usually start sending out their acceptances to people on the waitlist? Thanks!

I was told by a current student that uk's wait list is always very short and they have a good chance of getting in. Don't know that for sure but that is what I was told.

I know they will try to rank it before the holiday break. Not sure if they will send information as to where you are ranked before or after the holidays. You should definitely hear sometime from them by the first two weeks in January when they know more about who has accepted previous offers.

Thanks! I will probably call around beginning of January and ask about where I stand. In the meantime I will passively start reviewing my DAT notes in case I need to retake for next cycle. Thanks again!

I'll be studying also :xf: crossing fingers this studying is just a refresher and acceptances will soon follow. Good luck to you!

LOL mine is "UR" so it is beyond a number, meaning I got the unranked email which is a worse position, any hope for me =/...

Same here. I am an unranked alternate for oos. I expect that the chances for oos are much higher than those for in-state. However, the unranked alternate means there are twelve people on the ranked waitlist, meaning their chances are so much higher than me.

Does anybody know what the chances are for unranked alternates for oos? I'm guessing pretty slim 🙁

I agree with your statement about OOS waitlisters having a better chance than in state. I still think you have a chance though! How do you know the OOS list is only 12 people long?

Thank you, I hope so! But I am on the unranked alternate portion of the waitlist (oos), so I don't know how many others are on it besides me.

On the ranked waitlist (oos again), which I assume you are on, there are twelve people according to the e-mail they sent me. And they mentioned that they have those twelve people ranked. If you're on this ranked one, I would say you have a really good chance of getting in 👍

Don't get discouraged. I've heard out of state moves pretty quick. Think good thoughts!

That's helpful, but for us it will now depend that the 12 on the ranked list, either get in or decline so that we get a chance, the odds are not that great =/

I know 2 students that also interviewed with me from oos, they'll be declining also....I think the list will move quickly

Does anyone know if Kentucky has a white coat ceremony similar to what Louisville has?

Dentdog, those are exactly the same reasons that I chose UK over UofL, too!

Yea it was a very difficult choice since both schools are very good, UK was just a better fit for me. I'm excited to meet everyone in the incoming class!! It's cool to know other people were thinking along the same lines as I was!

Decision made !!.... Although it was a tough decision, I've known in my heart this whole time UK was the best fit. Looking forward to meeting future classmates ... Couldn't be more excited to start this journey!

Here's a discussion to keep us waitlisters busy 😉. What is the highest ranked number would you be happy with (other than #1) for in state and out of state. What numbers do you think are good numbers to have on both of the lists. Has anyone heard of previous examples

I would say OOS is hard to tell, I think it might go into the unranked list. I think even getting #12 (the highest ranking) is a good number.

In state I'm worried about, my guess would be #4 would be a solid spot.

This is all speculation as I have no knowledge of past history of their waitlist.

Guys keep your hopes up, I just declined my offer.... Good luck!!!

Just submitted my deposit!! So blessed to have this opportunity!
