***The Official UCSF Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

I am confused with this section.
Where do you download the 'pdf' form?
Are we suppose to make one on our own?

Hello, I just received my secondary today and am going through it. The prereq section has this little rectangle box with an image of the PDF you are supposed to fill out. Click on the image, and the link to the pdf should make a pop-up window or a new tab to the actual PDF.
Save it to your desktop and work from there. 🙂

Same problem... I am thinking about filling it out, printing it, then scanning it to a pdf to upload it. If anyone has an easier solution, please share.

This is the method I used for Western's Pre-Req worksheet and it worked well. In this case, though, I filled it out in acrobat reader, saved it, and all my entries show up when reopening the file. Don't know why it wouldn't work with Western's... maybe western made their file "read-only" or something? I dunno. Using a MBP with adobe reader 11.

Hey guys, so here's what I'm doing that seems to work: I use foxit reader to open most PDFs (1000x better than Adobe, curse that dreadful thing -.-). I am filling things out with foxit PDF reader, then I save and close. I then reopen the modified file with Adobe, and everything is there in the correct format.
I sent a tester email to myself just to make sure nothing was wonky, and it seems to be fine.

I hope this helps somebody. 😀

Has anyone tried submitting their application since the last email regarding the issues with the payment page? For reference:

"This message is to apologize to you again for the another technical issue regarding the supplemental application payment page.

For those who have already experienced this issue we are working to verify that your payment has been received, please do not resubmit payment unless instructed to do so. The payment system is for some reason not connecting to the supplemental to allow you to submit your application. We are working to resolve this issue as soon as we can.

For those who have not reached the payment page, we ask that you postpone payment until this issue has been resolved."

Just wondering if anyone's received an all clear yet. I'd hate to wait around for a week or something waiting for no reason 😛

^Yup. They just sent out an email saying that it's alright for us to submit our application:

Edit: Nevermind, I had a question about AP units but I found the information on UCSF's website

Best of luck to everyone! 🙂

Any third batcher received the secondary yet?

Still awaiting secondary, what does it entail?

3rd batch and received the supp app today. I guess they don't look for whether or not you completed the pre-reqs (probably just GPA and DAT cutoffs). I was stupid and applied without realizing they wanted a psychology class.

Emailed them and withdrew my application.

what problem are you guys having with the prereq pdf? I am using a MBP with mountain lion. Using adobe reader I can fill out the pdf, save, close, reopen and my entries are still there. Is not that not happening for some people?

I'm having trouble sending my AP scores. I can log on to collegeboard, but when I go to view my scores, they aren't there. I read a FAQ that said scores that are older than 4 years are archived, but my most recent ones were taken in 2010, which is less than 4 years old. Anyone else experience a similar problem?

I took my AP exam in 2007 and the lady I spoke with over the phone said that my scores have been archived and are no longer in their electronic system. I had to print off a request form from their website and mail it (you can fax it too). The fee is $25 and it takes 7-10 business days for College Board to process the request once they receive it.

Here's the link, with the request form at the bottom of the page:
http://professionals.collegeboard.com/testing/ap/scores/reporting/for-students

I called in about the school code and 5482 is correct.

Hope this helps!

I saw that, and it says for AP exams that are 4 years or older, and mine are 3. Oh well, they probably got archived. Will send in the sheet. Thanks for the info.

Also, for the pre-req sheet, did you guys add AP scores in addition to your classes that fulfilled each requirement? Like I've taken psych classes, but I also took the AP Psych class, so I wrote down both. Is that a bad idea? I wanna make sure that if AP Scores give any sort of edge, I'd like to get it.

I'm third batch and got supplemental app Aug 12th.

I have a question! For the prereq document that we have to fill out, do we list ALL courses that apply to the pre-req category or just enough to fulfill the minimum requirement??

For example, If I took AP English Language (score of 5 which fulfills the english requirement), should I still list "Intro to Fiction" class that I've taken in college?

Hope the 4th batchers get some kind of update soon. I am anxious!

**UPDATE: Got the supp app on 8/14!

Oh I never thought about that. I took AP Bio but just included my classes that meet the minimum requirement. Also, I emailed UCSF and they told me that they don't require AP score reports until interview level. But since I sent my score already, they are just going to keep it in my file in case it will be required later.

4th batch and got the supplemental today too.

4th batch here. Got the supplemental app today. Woohoo!

Could anyone find a word limit to the essay responses?

No, but there is a character limit for each one so technically there is a word limit.

Thanks man, for some reason the character limit didn't appear the first time I looked at it, or I must've missed it.

Under the organic chemistry "admission requirements", it says they only want 1 semester with laboratory. However, they want everything in quarter units, making you multiply the semester units by x1.5. If I took Orgo and lab (5 semester credits total), then its only 7.50 quarter units, which falls short of the "Quarter Units Minimum" of 8. So do I NOT list just 1 semester, but instead list 2 semesters of orgo to fulfill the "Quarter Units Minimum"?

This is the only section of the prereqs where the math turns out this way for me. Anyone else have this problem?

Scientific, Professional, Technical and Creative Writing classes do not fulfill the English requirement........................... I guess only courses titled composition will count.... lol

I noticed there is a character limit to some of the responses on the secondary application. Is this character limit including spaces or without spaces?

haha, right? I've never regretted only getting a "3" on the AP english exam until now.

Good point, I didn't catch that. It's strange that on their website, they say you must have either 4 semester units or 8 quarter units when 8 quarter units ≠ 4 semester units. I may give them a call tomorrow to find out what they want, as to make sure I'm filling out the form properly. I seem to remember in the instructions them saying if you filled it out even remotely incorrectly, your application would be cancelled! :scared:

5th batch! Finally got invited to do the secondary application.

Anyone figure out how to fill out the prereq worksheet if your ochem is 3 semester units and lab is 2 semester units?

This will only give me a total of 7.5 quarter units, which is below the minimum req of 8 qt units?

I could add my second semester ochem class, but the instruction on the prereq worksheet ask for only 1 ochem class.

If you look at their website, for 1 Organic chem course (lec+lab) you only require 4 semester units. So I think 7.5 quarter unit is fine, even if that is lower than 8 quarter units. They wrote 2 ochem course for quarter system (which is usually 2 X 4 each ochem class = 8 quarter unit) or 1 semester course of ochem , which is usually 4 semester unit for lecture+2lab or 5 semester unit lec+lab.

This supplementary for coursework is giving me such a pain too.

I don't understand why they asks us to do this type of work all over when they have our AADSAS...

anyone know if the character limit is including spaces or not?

I think I'm going to go with two.

haha, I still haven't submitted the sup. for this reason. I doubt something as insignificant as this will affect us...but why chance it :xf: :laugh:

Did anyone put down anything in the additional info section? Is it bad to skip the section? I'm not even sure what else to add.
