How are you liking the school so far, and what are your recommendations or advice for us at this point?

I am a 3rd year at UMKC also. Glad to help with any questions any of you have. Congratulations on the first step of acceptance.

Does anyone have any books that would be helpful to look at in preparation?

I'll have my books for sale sometime in the summer. If you want to get started now I would recommend brushing up on biochemistry, anatomy and histology. I know people that took histology the semester before and still failed it in dental school. About 20 people failed it in my class including myself and have to remediate it. By far the hardest class I have ever taken! If you want to get started, I can send out some slides for those classes sometime in the near future. Probably for the first round of exams. By then you will have received a file to download that has all the information for all the following exams. I don't and probably wont check studentdoctor again so you can reach me by Facebook (email) [email protected] or by email. I also joined your group on FB for the class of 2016. Congratulations to all who get accepted!

Whatever you do, don't let this scare you. I had never taken Histology before and did fine. You just can't let the material pile up on you like so many in my class did. If you stay semi-up-to-speed in there, you shouldn't have any problems. For every person who failed the course, there was someone who got an A. Enjoy your time now, and study hard when you get here. It is a LOT of information and it is really time consuming, but it is also totally doable.
