Does anyone know how many people are waitlisted?
Its everyone who didn't get an offer... So if 190 were interviewed, 54 offers went out.. means 136 waitlisted.

Waitlisted second year in a row now 🙁

Waitlisted for third year in a row. I’m pretty bummed.

Don't give up hope!!! I promise it's all worth it in the end. Just because your journey to dental school is different than you had planned.... does NOT mean it's wrong or that you won't make an incredible dentist. There are tons of people who apply multiple times, and then excel when they are actually in dental school. Everyone's journey is different - so don't beat yourself up. My biggest recommendation to you - is to meet with Heidi and Dr. Haney to see exactly why you weren't chosen. That is THE thing(s) to fix & will drastically increase your chances of being accepted next time. They do admire & notice those who take the time to apply multiple times. And a couple other recommendations: volunteer at Good Shepherd in OKC or another charity dental clinic if you can & get your dental assisting license. All you have to do is apply online & pay the fee - usually you can find someone who will train you on the job, or you will learn as you assist at Good Shepherd. And if you already have your assisting license, work on getting your expanded functions like coronal polishing or radiation safety & protection. They really like to see that. You must show progress in your application from previous years, because staying stagnant will not prove anything to them. Stay in touch with Heidi & attend their pre-dental activities. When they can actually see you in person putting effort in, it goes a long way. You guys should be proud of yourselves for applying again, and your time will come - don't give up!

Congrats to everyone that’s in, here is our class GroupMe link.

I have applied 4 times now and interviewed twice. 2nd time iv been waitlisted. It’s tough, especially when you have 12 years dental assisting experience.

Accepted this morning at 9:00 am. 😊 So happy the wait is over and I was accepted in the first round!

Edit: Stats: GPA 3.7/DAT 20/PAT 23, applied 3 times total, interviewed the this time and last year, and waitlisted last year. Volunteered a lot at GS this year to boost my volunteer hours. I also started a job at a dental office this year in the front office.

Hey I don't blame you one single bit for being bummed or frustrated!!! It really does take a toll on you. Has the admissions team given you any input on what they want you to "improve"? If you haven't already, I would definitely have a heart-to-heart with them to let them know that 1. you're not going to quit, & 2. you've BEEN super ready to get your journey started & will do anything to make it happen. It's frustrating because you just need to KNOW what it is they want you to do, so that you can actually do it. I would think they would be transparent with you. I'm so sorry you didn't get the news you wanted to hear yet, but there were quite a few people who came off the waiting list this year!

Were these in state or out of state?

Assuming in state is a lot harder than out of state since the cost of dental school is outrageous for out of state.

I noticed you said you interviewed on Oct 25th. I interviewed that day too, but I don’t think I got the chance to chat with you. I bet having been invited to that day will definitely help you stand out. Many of my in-state friends were accepted off the waitlist. Keep your head up!

Yes, there was only 6 of us I believe. I was first to interview so never got a chance to introduce myself. I’m going to do whatever it takes. Thanks for the motivation!

I guess these were from last year? Did they do anything after they found out they were waitlisted that helped them get off the wait list? Also, around when do people that get in off the waitlist find out?

Its says in the email to check for the admission letter on your supplemental application. I can't see mine yet and I want to know how to pay the deposit? Anyone know about this?

Yeah I can’t access anything to pay a deposit either. My 2020 summer status is still “pending” in my supplemental application. So I assume it’s not available to pay yet?

Yes

Yes I saw on the group page that has been created on Facebook that Heidi said it will be updated form 11:30 pm going

Over the last few years I’ve heard this. I guess I should say they’re more acquaintances because I’m not sure exactly what they did. I just know they said kept volunteering, sent a letter of intent, and kept in touch with Heidi.

Congratulations!!!
What did you do different than the last year? Also did you meet Heidi or Dr. Haney? Did you have same gpa and DAT last year also?

I volunteered a lot more, started a new job at dental office in the front, went to 1 presentation Q and A to talk with Dr. Haney there, updated my personal statement, got new/updated rec letters, and had the same scores. I graduated in 2017 and haven’t taken any classes since. I took the DAT twice, once in 2017 and 2018. I liked my second score a lot. That’s just a quick overview off the top of my head so far!

Does anyone know if any waitlist applicants have been offered a spot? I know of one IS that apparently is not attending.
