***The Official UTHSC-SA Class of 2020 Acceptance/Interview/Rejection Thread***

I talk to a ut adcom.. said that after 2nd round (Feb 14) they had about 80% filled. been on rolling admission the last two weeks..probably another 10%-15% added since then. Also said 1st round this year was high, probably due to the $100 mil brand new spanking clinic.

The term is "brand spanking new".... A brand new spanking clinic sounds pretty 50 shades of grey. 😉

Ya, you can buy either a Mac or PC through the school. I'm pretty sure I remember them saying that it's a requirement but maybe someone else can confirm this. The computer will cost a little more than it would if you bought it somewhere else because it's loaded with all the books and software that you'll need for the 4 years of dental school.

I just got accepted into my 1st choice, UT San Antonio. Interviewed 1/25. First acceptance ever! Been on either wait lists or rejection lists all this time. I thought I would never make it to any TX schools with a 3.0 cum GPA. I've been dreaming of this moment for 3 years taking post-bac classes, doing research and working and volunteering as a dental assistant. Now I don't even know if it's real...:bigtears::bigtears::bigtears::bigtears::bigtears::bigtears:

My acceptance email said "Details regarding the criminal background check will be made available to you at a later date."

Hey Class of 2020 peeps,

I've been watching the facebook group, and I noticed that there are currently 200 members, even though our class size is around 100. And only 40 people have introduced themselves on that one thread, so I'm not sure we even have our entire class on there. What gives? Why are there so many upperclassmen in our group? It's not like they've all been giving us tips or insider info -- only ~4 of them have been actually helpful, the rest have just been lurking. Are they trying to "hot or not" us? Are they getting ready for some weird bet or hazing ritual? I'm kinda annoyed that the group is so cluttered that I can't figure out who to appropriately stalk in my own class.

Lol some people that are in yalls fb page aren't even going to UTHSCSA. I know some of my friends that got accepted to all 3 Texas schools that are chilling in all 3 fb groups lmao.

Ugh. What's the point of making it a closed group if everyone gets to join. Mods need to do their job. I'm disappointed.

Why would your friends want to stay in all three groups?

No clue. Probably to stalk people. Haha
The Baylor fb group also has 200+ people. It makes it a little annoying to stalk but I still manage to find the info I need.:pompous:
 
the only thing that i didn't like was the laptop price.... 3.5k +2.6k support = 6.1k laptop. I can buy a mac for 1k
 
the one that we are getting is about $2200 brand new from apple, about 2k from online retailer with discount. So the software is about another $1500 plus another $10k for 4 years of support. Thats a 13.5k laptop for all fees associated with it. My point about the 1k laptop is that is plenty power enough, we are force to buy the higher end.
 
Do our supplied teeth have to be in a special container? Or just any container with a bio hazard sticker on it?
