Hi Everyone-

Classic Question: Is it better to double major, major in one discipline, or perhaps major and minor?

I am majoring in Philosophy and considering another major in either Biology, Mathematics, or a minor in something.

Thanks...............................

Better for what? Definitely it is not better for you wallet.

Haha, true. It turns out I can do it all taking one summer class. So cost wise it's okay. Also, I've taken a crap load of random electives because I've had a nearly impossible time trying to decide on a major. Sooooo.... I won't mind taking exclusively major classes my last year of my undergraduate experience.

From what I heard and what my academic advisor told me, a minor really doesn't do anything....I dunno...your choice.

Minors are useless and double majors are only worth it if it doesn't compromise your GPA at all. If you can get a slightly higher GPA by majoring in one thing, that's the best option.

I'd suggest to only do a double major if you are truely interested in the other field. I think it would make you look like a somewhat more well rounded applicant, but wouldn't be worth it if you don't enjoy the other field.
