no, it's the perfect thing to say. here's why:
the opinion was expressed earlier that homosexuals shouldn't were clothing or act in ways that advertise their lifestyle. apparently there is some risk of upsetting some of the population who don't feel they should have to be party to that information.
well, i say lets take this a step farther. obviously (and unfortunately) there is a fair amount of anti-middle eastern in the US these days. some people don't want to interact with middle eastern americans (it's very sad, i agree). what i'm saying is that asking any subpopulation to act in a fashion that betrays their their cultural traditions is completely ****ed up and inappropriate. after all, do you remember the outrage when the french banned turbins in schools? it's the same thing that we're talking about here.
i'm sorry that if i offended anyone with playing out my example, but i'm not sorry i did it. i think the point is extremely imporant to make. hopefully hurt feelings will spawn a little more understanding.

and please DO close this thread. i would have done pages ago if i was a mod. it degenerated from the original topic long ago. at very least it deserved to be moved to everyone.
