Agreed. Just start a new thread. I get tired of updating the page only to see arguments which aren't helping any of us in the soap.
 
The unfilled list doesn't get updated until around 1pm when people who got offers either accept or reject them.
 
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew you guys will get offers during the first round...cant wait to be in these shoes

Are you sure? If I had to guess, I wouldn't think that would be the case.
 
sent out 1 of my 10 on ERAS. for that program, on ADTS, it says "application not available for download yet"...

also no updated list
 
send 3/10 applications, most of them are available for the programs to be downloaded but they haven't.

GME funding is an excuse to keep the residency spots artificially low. Imagine if you owned a business where your employees were paid $20/hr for 80hrs of work per week essentially working for $10/hr and the govt offered to pay half meaning you really pay the employees $5/hr and in turn you make a profit of several thousand(!!!) dollars per patient! As a business owner would you want to change that business model? Residency is a farce and the only reason we say its ok is because we need it for licencing and its only a few years so we tolerate it, otherwise its pure exploitation, plain and simple!
 
sent 8 of my 10 apps at 12 exactly. should i wait till 1 to send in the final 2 just to make sure they are available still?
 
Probably should hold off sending any new apps until 5pm or whenever the round 2 cycle ends and list updated. Programs are not going to look at any new ones until then.
 
Help! Am I doing something wrong? I am trying to reapply to programs, however under the "re-apply" tab none of the programs I applied to with my original 30 slots are listed
 
I can't even see anything on the soap site....just keeps spinning and spinning whenever I try to load a page

same here. I think it is automatic for the next round. The next 10 are for any programs you didn't apply to previously...I think, but not sure
 
2 interviews no offers for FM.

This blows.

its true and good ..u can only apply once ..the app will still b available till friday to every prog
 
I just want to emphasize that there is no point in using up your 10 new applications until the outcome of these 2 rounds (until 5 pm) is available on the nrmp website. The programs make up a rank list for offers and go down that rank list. I doubt they look at any new applications till the completion of these two rounds.

this may be true and makes sense....sent out two of my 10 and am holding off...but that said of the two that went, both apps have already downloaded (previously i said they werent even available for download, but that has now changed)...interpret as you like...gotta love the speculation w/associated headache

I'm waiting for my only hope since I got one iv so far.

Can you tell me how to find out if my application is downloaded by program?
 
The SOAP has been such a humbling process and reading through this thread has been the same. Monday was beyond a surprise and digesting everything the past few days has been a roller coaster. I accepted the one and only offer I received and I am thankful for it, but the idea of clicking a button and cementing the next few years of my life was surreal. Good luck everybody and all the best.

we did get emails, but we logged in faster than the emails

You can check in ERAS. After you applied, look at the upper right of the screen, and click on "ADTS". It will show you all the SOAP programs you have applied to. Click on a program and it will tell you if it's available to download and if it has actually been downloaded.

you must have your popup/adblock disabled.
 
@kstreet, congrats!! Do you mind sharing in which specialty you received the offer?
 
are you guys thinking that its best to wait til 5 to send in the next 10? I figure its a crapshoot at this point to send it now or even at 2pm becasue like its been said... they probably have their Plan A from round 1 in and Plan Bs from teh first set of apps on monday for round 2, and then if they are still unfilled then maybe they look at the new 10 from now.

granted if you are getting downloaded applications, then your crapshoot guess went well. i just don't want to waste these apps.

i feel like this is part of the system that definitely needs work. why not just let us apply to 45 at the beginning and then we dont have to play a time or numbers game later in teh week without knowing who has what open spots?
 
there is no updated list, I'm guessing it will be available @2PM?

Some places are already downloading the set of ten new apps I just sent at 12:15. I also heard from the PD at the second place I interviewed that I'm out of luck, they filled. So unless I get a phone call today or tomorrow, I'm in deep doodoo.

Ranked 10 categorical gen surg programs, did not match. My step 1 is HORRIBLE, didn't think I'd get interviews... then did and did really well on them. Got 2 letters of love from PD's.

Applied to prelim surg in SOAP

Got a call from one program I ranked on Monday telling me their list would be short and I would be on it.
Got a call from another program I ranked yesterday telling me the same thing.

Today... got an offer for a prelim spot from a program that I never talked to during SOAP and was rejected from (after calling to ask about my app) for categorical spot bc I didn't meet their minimum step score.

So... don't give up hope. There IS hope to get an offer even if you haven't heard from anyone!

Agreed. Very humbling and surreal. I accepted an offer with my 1 FM call. Did not receive offers from my other two IM calls.

I got a prelim surgery spot for a program that I interviewed at for a categorical spot. They sent me an offer out of the blue, without contacting me on Monday and Tuesday. I accepted. I also got a phone interview yesterday that did not offer me a spot. And my other phone interview on monday offered me a spot as well, which I declined.
 
Congrats to everyone who matched via SOAP, it must be VERY relieving
 
close friend of mine who doesnt know about this forum and i am freaking out for him. he did 6 phone interviews yesterday and no offers first round...i dont understand. he applied to a very competitive speciality and didnt match but had >240 from Top 20 US school...i guess his best bet now is to wait until list is updated and send another 10 through ERAS? isnt it possible to accidentally apply to programs that have already filled if you send the other 10 before the list is updated?
 
That's why I shared 🙂 Was pretty shocked myself!

Stay strong guys, this whole thing sucks.

Befuddling.

As for the accidental application- yes it's possible. My guess is people are sending out some applications to programs with a large number of unfilled spots and saving the rest for later, when the list will be updated.

The only time I ever talked to them was when I emailed back in November regarding my application for a categorical spot. They wrote back that my Step 1 score did not meet their minimum requirement and wished me luck.

Did not hear from them EVER during SOAP and was offered a spot. SO yes, you can get an offer without hearing from any programs!

2 calls from same program and didnt offer... ahh gotta love soap.
 
Last night ~7 pm PST, a PD called me and said that I was NOT on the list for 1st offers. However, she said if the 10 surg prelim spots did not fill, that she would contact me in the am to see if I still wanted an unfilled spot.

9 am comes - no job offers. Went to Dean of students office to get advice on what to do next and to see how the other kids did. PD called me at 9:15 saying they had 2 open spots, and would I like one. Obviously I said YES!

10:15 am they have sent an email confirmation that I will receive an offer at 12 pm.

The next 2 hours cannot go by fast enough, and I'm going to wait until I have the confirmed job before I call my family.

Out of us 14 ppl, 3 others got jobs. One received a med prelim, one received a surg prelim, and one miraculously matched into one of the few OBGYN categorical spots.

Obviously I'm still freaking out that they're going to take away the spot even though they gave verbal AND email confirmation.

But I'm saying it's over for me 🙂

So, I'm a longtime lurker but non-member until now. My two cents:

My advice would be to wait to submit any applications until at least 2pm. It would be a shame to waste an application on a filled program. You also never know if that program with a lot of unfilled spots will fill (although not likely I agree). As for submitting at 2pm or 5pm, its hard to say. I would at least submit a couple apps at 2pm and the rest at 5pm. That way you wait to see what spots have filled after round 2. This is all IMHO of course.
