Oh, they can be completed in never-never land...since that is the same place where it takes 2 extra years to become a DO...wth?

I'm guessing you are speaking of PA vs physician programs?

There are some BA/DO programs that are 6 years, and LECOM has a 3 year primary care program , but apart from that, the DO degree is 4 years, and summers aren't exactly 'off'.

I could be wrong but I think you're referring to the "extra" 2 years of "advanced musculoskeletal training" that D.O's learn. I have read in some places that the difference between D.O / M.D is that D.O's have an additional 2 years of musculoskeletal training (Yes I know that's horrendously inaccurate). To the OP, if that is what you're referring to, then those "extra" two years are just incorporated into the first two years of medical school in a class called Osteopathic Principals and Philosophy (or could go by a variety of other names). You'll learn the history of Osteopathy and OMM (a variety of muscle manipulations). Any current medical students with the real details of the course. It's not really an extra two years, it's just a gimmicky way of saying that D.O's are M.D's that learn "more".
