Biodude.. Which calculus are you taking- 1, 2, w/stats, etc... ? If you're doing Calc I, Gen Chem II, and Cell Bio, I bet you can fit in advanced writing.

Skater.. yeah my school likes to kick you on your behind. Do ya'lls schools have big premed populations?? My school starts out like 60-80% and ends with around 20%. So they're constantly weeding, and then there are a number of kids who want to go on to grad school for PhD's and such.

By the way, I'm glad you like that site, too. I really like to hear about the schools direct from the students. No admissions book will tell you that the school's racist or smelly or has horrible food or that kids eat lunch with deans.

Granola- you sound a little hippy... do you like jack johnson/ben harper b/c I just saw them in concert. It was fan-freakin-tastic. Where do you go to school, by the way? I think a good way to pick your classes is just to talk to upperclassmen, if you know any. Schools vary so much in course difficulty that you can't totally rely on kids from other schools.

Oh CONGRATS bigdan... see ya!

hey all - just checkin in🙂

Nothing much going on here other than boiling lol. I live on a second floor apt and don't have air lol. Last nite my bf and I went to our little outdoor arcade for a couple hours. Got my butt kicked on Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Centipede, and Pole Position lol. They have many of the more recent games too, but I go there to get my fix of the old-time classics hehe. We rocked at skeeball tho. Managed to score enough tix to get a little beanie type red bear with a little american flag over his heart😀 .

Wtg Dan!! Congrats on your organic grade!

Sorry to hear class is totally boring for ya right now Biodude. And I've got my fingers crossed that your fall schedule works out for ya. And yes I'm enjoying biopsych but way behind at the moment, so I'm gonna have to cram more than just two tests once a week into the last month of class lol. Like taking 3 or 4 twice a week the rest of the month, but oh well. I'll get through it

Wash - I actually have no idea how many premeds we have, but it's not a very large group for sure. I know of like 3 others in my class and a few ahead of me. We have a lot of students that go onto ms/phd programs tho so it's not like our science depts are drop-dead easy, but they aren't geared toward washing out premeds lol. We are also a huge nursing school but they take lower level prereqs than us.

Anyway I'm off to attempt to study biopsych in this heat lol. 🙂

I want to join this club... but only under 1 condition, Is there any strange/abusive hazing rituals when I join? 😕

Another check in...

Hey everyone, not to sound a bit self-centered here, but this will be the last time I remind you all 😉 My birthday is coming SOON...I've already slipped out some clues, and Tom Cruise is a huge one. It shouldn't take you all that long to figure it out 😀

Anyway, I just checked my e-mails and it seems that the volunteer coordinators at HOAG (for the clinical program, not the "candy striper" one) are having some trouble in wading through the applications. So they won't be sending out acceptances and rejections until Monday. Well, at least I know that I haven't been rejected from it yet...I was beginning to worry because they said that it would take about two weeks and now I'm into the third week and waiting.

washkeep - I will not be able to fit in the English writing class for the Fall schedule if I follow through as planned. My school only allows 16 units at most, and any higher requires a lot of paperwork BS...

Cell Biology 5 units
Chemistry 5 units
Calculus 4 units

That's 14 units. If I add in the English writing class, which is 3 units, that will equal 17 units (which is obviously over 16 units). And to get 17 units (or more) I have to go through paperwork with my school's administration to show that I could handle it 🙄

Besides, I'd rather toss in the "relaxer" course over the Spring. I'm the type to try to go "all out" in the Fall and sort of drop a bit during the Spring.

In retrospect, I wouldn't mind all that much if the Chem course was booked. But I sure wouldn't be happy if the Bio and Math courses were...that would leave me so far behind! Those are definitely the two that I need to get done, because Physics and Genetics are not offered over the summer. Organic Chem is, so I guess I could take the first semester's worth over the next summer, though that would totally ruin my next summer...

Oh yeah, and as for how many people in my school as a whole are pre-med? I honestly don't know. How many in my major? Well, if the pre-health professions club at my school is any indication, then I'd say around 74%...about 25% want to be something else in the health care field (pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, etc.), and about 1% want to teach biology or some kind of science in the junior high/high school levels. Oh wait, that 1% includes people planning to pursue PhD's in marine biology, ecology, genetics, etc.

But keep in mind that I've already seen around 3 or 4 people drop from pre-med over the course of two semesters...I have a feeling that more people are going to drop from pre-med as the years start going by...

I also asked my pre-med advisor about this, and he used to take surveys of biology majors...about 90% wanted to become doctors during their freshmen years, but it dropped to around 20% when the same survey was imposed during their senior years. Everyone else from the 90% batch changed their majors, decided to become teachers, lab techs, Master's degree/PhD's, or pursue another career path in the health care field. There's nothing wrong with that. I think that we definitely need people willing to supply all of these fields.

Lots and lots of people start off college as pre-meds but as the years go by the pre-med population starts dwindling as the study time, volunteering, etc. begin to take their toll on us. We aren't typical college students, who spend many nights partying. We're more driven and we sacrifice that time to study our material more. Of course, there are people who can study for 5 minutes and get an A on every Organic Chem test thrown at them, but those people are the exceptions, I'm afraid. A lot of people also begin to see just how much sacrifice is required to become a doctor...after college, it's 4 years of medical school, followed by 3 to 8 years of residency/fellowship training, and doctors don't work 40 hr work-weeks either (there are exceptions like Dermatology). Then they realize that they don't want to spend all this time cooped up in training, or that the income would have to wait until they're finished training, in which case they get themselves into massive debt from said training.

I have a feeling that about 80% of the pre-med population in the freshmen year will have changed to something else by the senior year.

Skaterbabe74 - Well, thanks for the encouragement, but I won't know until I finally get to register...no use thinking about it, though I admit that I do think about my schedule constantly after seeing the crappy registration time that I received (again). Well, you sound like you've had some fun at least...as for Biopsych, that sounds insane, though I would think that you can handle it 🙂

Well, actually, I think that I should have taken this summer off, seeing as how I would have ended up with the same crappy registration time anyhow. Sorry if I seem to be in a bad mood at the moment, but that's what people are like when things don't go their way...I still have to wait for an acceptance or rejection to the HOAG Memorial Hospital program, I have to wait until FRESHMEN registration time before I'm allowed to sign up 😡, and I'm sick of having to take General Ed courses...and also having to take an entire semester without my major set of courses!

Note to the deans of major departments: DO NOT recruit more people than your department has room for! It will make many students unhappy to have chosen your major!

I know I am.

premyo2002 - Hey, another Californian! 😀 Wow, there must be tons of us around here...

Anyway, no dude, no hazing rituals. Just join in, let us know some things about you, like your current year in college, your major, your pre-reqs that you've finished, etc.

Welcome in!

OK, ill try to keep it short. I am a junior at CSULB, I've finished most of my pre-req's: I have biochem left, so I can help out with advising. I'll mention more things later...

Biodude, if the HOAG program is run by COPE, (they call it the CCE program) you will have no problem getting in. I've been in their program for about 2.5 years at CVHP. It's an awesome program and you get a lot of patient interaction. You also get a lot of interaction with the hospital staff; I actually got hired in the OR because I did a rotation through there and the staff liked me. If you have a problem email me and ill talk to a friend I have there.

Senior at the University of South Carolina here, BA in Psychology. Applying in 2004 for the entering class of 2005/2009. Taking the MCAT this-coming April.

Finished all prereqs except for Physics I & II, and the two Organic labs. I did pretty well in all prereqs, until I hit organic. I never was the type who had to study much, and I learned quicky during organic I and organic II (C+ and D respectively) that it had to change. Scheduled to retake Organic II this summer (class starts Tuesday) unless I chicken out. Hopefully I can tear it a new one then I'll be in good shape. The little Organic stint dropped my GPA from a 3.4 and rising to a 3.25, but I still have a year to bring it back up. *shrug*

Welcome premyo2002 and JKDMed!!

Glad to hear you at least heard something from HOAG Biodude - now at least you won't worry as much lol. You're only allowed to take 16 credits without an overload? wow...we get 18 at least lol. It's hard to not go over 16 when you're a science major...especially your first couple years with so many 5 credit classes lol.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties in organic JKDMed. I'm having the same trouble with calculus lol. I'm sure you'll ace it next time tho. You're way, way beating most of our gpa's at the moment tho so don't worry bout it. Course most of us are a year or two behind you.

My day pretty much sucked lol. My apt absolutely boils when we get above 85 or so and today it got up to 94😡 . I think the apt was probably over 100 at one point since the second floor is always hotter. Suffice it to say I didn't get a whole lot of studying done lol. Enough to go take a couple tests tomorrow, but not as much as I wanted. And I figured out how many tests I'll have to take per class day. It's not as bad as I thought. We have 9 class times left so it's like 2 tests per class. Much better than the 3 or even 4 I was thinking I was gonna have to do lol.

Hope everyone is having a good week!

washkeep -- no, I don't consider myself a hippie and I've never heard of jack johnson and ben harper. I do know a lot of hippies though and most of them are rock climbers. They live out of their VW bus and take tons of road trip all over the US to climb.

skaterbabe -- so sorry about the heat...where do u live?

JKDmed -- I'm also working on my BA in Psych and good luck on retaking the Orgo. I'll be taking it this fall and a lot of people already warned me about how much work it's going to be. I can't say I'm looking forward to it.

premyo -- welcome to the club and I'm from SoCal too. I don't think there's any hazing involved cuz I didn't get one.

biodude -- I sent u a PM regarding the possibility of shadowing. I go to CSUSB and my premed advisor told me the same thing about the decrease in number of premeds from freshman year to senior year.

Anyways, I'll catch up to you guys on Monday (maybe sunday night if I'm not too tired). I'm gonna go to bed cuz I gotta be up at 3am to head to Yosemite.

Here's a conundrum for you guys to think about. My current gpa is a 3.25 as I stated; I expect it to be a 3.35-3.45 by the time I apply next summer. I'm not *THAT* worried about it, as I'm mainly pre-DO anyways. I'm just applying to a few MD schools for the hell of it.

But here's the problem. My girlfriend, whom I have been seeing since my sophomore year in high school, is a nursing student here. She's 2 years behind me in college. Her scholarships won't allow her to transfer to another university, nor can she afford it. The only two schools in my home state, where I would prefer to go, are both allopathic schools with average GPAs in the 3.5-3.6 range. So what does this mean? I'm prolly going to have to be apart from her for over a year, maybe longer. I also have to take this into account where I apply and where I want to go.

And you thought the process itself was stressful enough:laugh:

Granola - I live in Colorado Springs. While that means beautiful weather most of the year and not an absolute bitter winter, because we're a mile up elevation-wise the sun is way hot for us heating everything up that much more lol. Have fun climbing El Capitan!

JKDMed - I'll be in a similar boat when I start applying. Colorado has one allopathic school and that's it. My bf and I have been together for 5 years and he's long out of college (he's 36). He's been there, done that, so isn't really looking forward to revisiting the whole scene by following me to whereever I end up going to school. I don't really want to stay here in Colorado either lol. Maybe practice here when I'm all done, but not go to school here. I also don't think there are too many places he would want to move, and can't take heat and humidity anymore either so the south would be out and I'm kind of thinking about going to TX if they'll have me. Suffice it to say we'll most likely be doing the long-distance thing when it comes down to it, unless we actually get married before then lol. And that's not on either of our plates at the moment. With IMs, email, and good long distance plans on cell phones long distance is very doable tho so don't make being away from her while she finishes up her schooling be much of a deciding factor. If you two are meant to be together it'll work. If not, well then that'll be one less thing to stress about 🙂

--Jessica, UCCS

happy bday biodude!
sorry, i'm bored and can't sleep.

Happy Birthday Biodude! So your max is 16 credits? Kids at my school are loony and most take 16-18. Engineers often take more. I know a few people who have petitioned to take 20-21. Crazy much?!

JKDMed- I love South Carolina!!! I used to lived in Spartanburg, and I went to Dorman HS freshmen/soph years. Honestly, I would retake organic chem and see how that pulls up your GPA. Then work on getting good letters of recommendation.... really good. 😉 And do a lot of volunteering. If you do really well in biochem, that'll also really help. So you'll be a junior like me next year?

Skater- i want to buy you a fan

granola- i am a little disappointed. what's with the name then?

Washkeep,

I'm signed up to take biochem in the fall. What's really weird, is that I actually enjoyed the last part of organic II when we did some actual biochemical related material. I forget what it was: amines and something else. Lipids I think. I was lucky enough to even pass Organic II. I had given up in the early part of the semester, assuming I was going to head to law school instead. Don't know WHAT I was thinking. I had to make an 82 on the third exam to pull my grade up to a D to pass -- I ended up making an 87 on that exam, so I know I can do it. I needed an 81 on the final to make a C, but unfortunately I was to slack and didn't bother to study the amines part, which ended up being a huge chunk of the exam. Ironically, I didn't miss a single question regarding the lipids section (if that's what it was) so that at least passed me. I missed my C by about 20 points 🙁 Oh well, at least it wasn't as bad as missing a B in organic I by 3 points. That pissed me off, when the professor curved the people who were under the next highest grade by 5 points, but wouldn't touch my 3 points. Bastard.

Anyways, I absolutely love South Carolina as well. I'm originally from Indiana, but have been living in SC for about 11 years now. I live just outside of Lexington, and it's so great here. 2 hours from the mountains and one hour from Charleston 🙂 Even if I do have to leave for med school, you bet I'm coming back to practice. Unless, of course, I go to med school in Florida 🙂

Hey people...

Well, today will probably be the first birthday where I'll spend the night at school 😳

I guess I should let the new people here know now:

I go to Cal State Fullerton...I honestly didn't think that there were that many CSU people on the boards...

JKDMed - Hi again dude. That was certainly an interesting conversation we had last night no? Anyway, if you have some problems with the girlfriend and such, why not try the spouses and partners board? They're usually quite helpful from what I've seen.

Well, the GPA thing...hmm, I guess you'd have to do quite well on the MCAT then. But if you're pre-DO, that seems to be the right GPA I guess...your school has a pre-med advisor, doesn't it?

washkeep - Yeah, my school's max is 16. I have found that to be pretty darn low compared to other schools 🙄 Anyway, I guess I'm fine with that, I just have to improvise and take some courses over the summer in order to ensure my graduation date, I guess. I know people who take like 25 units and still go to work part time. I wonder how they manage to do it.

Moskeeto - Hey, thanks! 🙂 I didn't think that someone from the Lounge would pop up here to wish me a happy birthday. I'll be sure to do the same for you for your next birthday.

Skaterbabe74 - Yeah, I'm glad, so I'm not going to start worryin' until the 11th. By the way, I think most of the people can definitely sympathize with the heat in your area. It's also getting warmer and warmer every day here, and my house doesn't have an air conditioner.

Well, at least now you don't have to worry about studying for your biopsych course as before...

granola - I got the PM. I also answered your PM. 😀

premyo2002 - Right, I know that it's the Clinical Care Extendership program and COPE...there's also another hospital participating in the program in Covina, isn't there? I would figure that you'd be helping out in the Covina hospital...um, Citrus Valley Hospital, right? I have a friend who participates in the program over there...maybe you've met?

So you go to CSULB...say, maybe we can meet up sometime, seeing the (relatively) close proximity of your school to my home. It's just a drive down the 22 freeway for maybe 6 to 7 exits and then you'd be going off the exit that would take you to my home 😀

Hmm, a lot of California people here:

granola
premyo2002
Valinor
BallerinaTina16
Roselee
Me

By the way, I did get a hold of all the AIM names on this list (except for Roselee's) already 😀

I have more to say but I have some things to do first. I'll be back later.

Biodude,

The common GPA for DO schools seems to be around 3.3x to 3.4x. My family hasn't had a lot of good experiences with MD's.

After this summer, my GPA will already be back above 3.3. I decided to move Organic II to the fall and take some psychology and liberal arts electives this summer, to make sure my study habits have changed before I dive head first into Organic again. Bumping the ol' GPA up a couple tenths of a point doesn't seem to be too hard.

I was wrong about my GPA too -- it's actually a 3.27. A professor gave me the wrong grade for a logic course, and I haven't been down to correct it yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR BIODUDE, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! 😀

Hope you get to have some fun today despite having class tonite Biodude 🙂

Wash - That's sweet but I do have a fan for my living room (plus an overhead fan that makes things hotter so I never use it lol, and one for my bedroom. It's just that when it gets that warm it circulates hot air and doesn't do all that much good lol.

I know this dude who consistently takes 20-28 hours/semester. He's a poli sci major tho thinking about law school/forensics. He has a photographic memory and the most incredible retention ability I've ever seen besides the photographic memory lol. I'm going to have to pull a couple semesters of 19 credits to graduate when I plan but I refuse to take anymore than that! (One of those semesters is still only 4 classes tho. It's just that they all have labs hehe.)

I, of course, didn't wake up today so looks like I'll have to do 3 tests per class next week, but that's ok. I hadn't really studied the stuff I needed to as well as I should have anyway lol. So today I'll be studying during the day and then I think my bf and I are gonna go see T3 tonite😀

Have a good one!

Happy Birthday Biodude!!!

Hmm...Tom Cruise turns 41 today. You know, I never managed to get that tidbit out of my mind. I turned 18 the year he turned 40. So, I'll be 28 when he's 50...hmm, looks like I'll be in the last legs of the second year of a medical residency by that time if all goes according to my plans 😉 I'm not a big fan of his movies...I think I've only seen like 2 or 3 of them so far, but I dunno...it just seems special to share a birthday with someone famous I guess.

Anyway, today I will attend the last lecture session for my World Civilizations to the 15th century class. Judging from all of the past lectures, I'd estimate that I will leave the class about 20 to 30 minutes earlier than usual. I still have 2 more lectures (including today) for American Studies though. Oh well, nothing I can do about it 😛

Boring boring lectures. You know, I didn't really feel like coming here. That stinks that for World Civ, about 85% of the exams come straight from the lecture. I wonder why I even bothered buying the book in the first place. No wait, it was because I was in gunner mode 😀 Wanted to snag that last 15% from the textbooks.

As for American Studies, I admit that I understand the reading assignments much better when the professor lectures on them...just like most other classes I have taken here.

I feel like going out and buying some science-related book now. I'm actually feeling unhappy that I'm not gettin' my dose of science  Actually, I wouldn't care as much if I didn't sign up for summer courses and just had fun, so it really is my own fault.

I should mention that I already have all of my schedules figured out for all semesters...well, without the Plan B's. I'll modify accordingly if I can't take certain classes at certain times (due to pre-reqs for the classes not met, or over-filling of the students into the class, etc.) But, now, it looks like I won't have to take more than 15 or 16 units a semester to get my Bachelor's degree in Biological Science with the Philosophy minor in 4 years. Of course, I would have to slip the units I miss into the summer schedule, but after this summer is over, it shouldn't be more than like 6 units (two non-science classes). 6 units is easy to handle over the summer, especially if I split it up into 2 different sessions, 1 class each.

Okay, my rant is over. I'll only be answering other peoples' posts until tomorrow, Independance Day!

<b>hi everyone how are you <b>
i see forum is a little low these days
i just started summer school and yes i found voluntaring in this english Summer camp for kids.
if also stated this htlm course which is real fun
happy birthday
 biodude
see you

Hey everyone, I just thought that I'd be announcing that I have a swimming pool in my backyard. If anybody's in the Southern CA area then why not send me a PM and come in for a swim? It gets lonely here when I'm the only person in the pool, though some people come over from time to time. I'm lettin' most of my friends here know about it 😛

minx - Hope ya have fun during summer school 🙂

too bad i'm in northern cal, i really feel like swimming right now🙁
other than that, i have 5 more weeks or summer school left, then 2 weeks break and then school starts again. right now i'm in search for a place to live for the next school to year, which is not a whole lot of fun, but i'm excited about moving out😛
happy 4th of july everyone

Hey all - Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

I totally agree that it's kind of cool when you share a bday with somebody famous Biodude. My only claim to fame about my bday is that it's the same day Abraham Lincoln died lol. And No Fair on the pool lol. We don't have one in our apt complex so I'd have to pay way too much and travel way too far to go swimming anywhere lol.

How's english comp going Minx?? The summer camp thing sounds like a ton of fun!

Good luck finding a place CH3. I totally know the feeling about the hassle it is to move tho. That's why I keep putting off looking for a new place even tho I know I should be trying to find a slightly cheaper abode lol. Not that my place is expensive or anything it's not, but it also doesn't have any amenities either lol.

I hope to get thru Ch 3-8 in Biopsych this week, taking 3,4,5 tests on Tues and 6,7,8 tests on Thurs. I'm almost done copying study questions and key terms off my cd rom and then need to read chapters 6,7,8 and review 3-5 lol. I'm definitely having a hard time motivating myself this summer lol, mostly because all the independent study classes I've taken before were online so we took tests and turned in assignments online. Much easier for me to hit deadlines that way then having to be at school at 8:45 to take tests lol. Oh well. I think next summer, unless our school has something really cool offered (which is doubtful) I'll just take classes thru UC-Berkeley lol.

Have a good one!

Belated happy 4th of July everyone! Hope u guys had a blast!!!

biodude ? belated happy birthday. I?ll catch u on AIM sometime. And that sux about your World Civ book?.that you bought it and don?t really need it. I also have all my schedule figured out for the upcoming semesters and the most units I?ll take is 16 per semester. My pre-med advisor sat down with me and we figured out a 4-yr plan to get my bachelors degree along with a couple of minors.

washkeep ? sorry for disappointing u cuz I?m not a hippie. I was eating a granola bar when I signed up on SDN and I couldn?t think of a name except granola. I didn?t know granola=hippie. We usually call them bohemians instead of granolas.

CH3 ? good luck in house-hunting. I hate moving cuz of all the packing and unpacking but it is also exciting cuz it feels like you?re starting a brand new chapter of your life.

skaterbabe ? good luck in your biopsych tests. And hope it gets cooler there. No pool huh? Just fill up your tub and jump in for a few minutes during your study breaks. That should cool you off.

talk to u guys later

YEa minx, you finally landed something! That's great. What all do you do?

Biodude- you have a pool?! I wish I was in CA. I have a lake near my house. In fact, there are a lot of lakes around here.

So SARS is under control now and obesity is on the rise. Seems like there's always an epidemic to be dealt with. Is anyone interested in MD/MPH? I think it would be a good way to get into health advocacy. Where I'm working now, department of Med College of WI, they do a ton of urban child advocacy and I think it's great. Do any of ya'll want to get into advocacy?

Hey all, I've spent most of the SDN weekend checking out on any new posts or updates. As for what I've been doing in the real world, I have been...

-studying

-shooting fireworks 😛

-studying

-eating

-studying

-watching movies (Fight Club, Dark City, and Total Recall)

-studying

Pretty boring thus far, isn't it? Well, my finals are going to be on Thursday and my very last lecture for this summer session (the 1st one) will be tomorrow night from 6:00 to 9:30 p.m. So now, I am studying...and I can't wait until next session when I will have no night classes and I will be taking my first upper-division class! Yep, that's right, a sophomore in an upper-division course! I wonder what those are like...

washkeep - Hey dude, I've spent some time wondering about getting an MD/MPH, MD/PhD, MD/MBA, MD/etc., but for now I think that I'll just worry about getting myself into a straight MD program. I'm not all that interested in research, so I have no need for a PhD. Oh, and as for obesity, it's always been on the rise 🙁 It's due to our sedentary lifestyles and easier access to rich-tasting foods...I definitely have first-hand experience here. I myself am not obese, but I am overweight for someone at my height (I've got a bulging belly), so I can see how easy it is to gain fat and how hard it is to lose it. It'll definitely turn into a huge health problem in the future if this trend keeps going up (I imagine visits to Cardiologists, Endocrinologists, Nutritionists, Pharmacists, and so on will be on the rise...). It's amazing how many health problems crop up once a person stops exercising and starts growing horizontally...heart disease, diabetes, some joint/arthritis problems later in life due to increased weight load on the legs...

Child advocacy huh? So then, what do they do in Child advocacy?

granola - hmm, interesting. I'm just trying out my own 4-year plan to snag one major and one minor. By the way, did you check my PM to you?

Skaterbabe74 - Well, I didn't mean it like that...it's just that we in Southern CA get a lot of visitors, that's all 😀 😛 Anyway, it's certainly more difficult to motivate oneself during the summer time because of the heat and all the fun that could be had if we didn't take any classes.

CH3CH2OH - Hey dude, why don't ya try dropping by down south to Orange County sometime? I'll pay you a visit the next time I go to Northern Cali (to check out Stanford and UCSF). Well, I hope you find a good place to stay in. Oh yeah, two weeks break before regular school starts? I only get one week 😀

Hello everyone. This is my first post and I though this thread would be a good place to start.

- I am a Junior at USCA and plan on taking the MCAT next April.
- I will graduate in 2005 and I plan on entering med school in the fall after graduation.
- As for my pre-req's. I have finished all of them. O. chem was definately the hardest but I managed to get a C+ and C. From what I understand thats pretty good with the professor I had. Most students fail and go to take it at the main campus in Columbia. Unfortunatelly she is the only professor that taught it at my school. 🙁 All of my other classes were A's and B's except Physics I. I made the mistake of taking calc. based without taking a high school physics class. It took me awhile to get the hang of it but I pulled up in the second semester.
- I am a chem major, so all i have left are a few major requirements and some general edu. classes.
- My gpa is a 3.24 but that will go up in the next year. Those three C's brought it down quite a bit. It will increase in the next year though.

JKDMed I think one of my friends will be in your o. chem II class. Are you taking it it during Summer II. Let me know how that class is.

- I just finished taking calc. II ( easy A) during Summer I.

jje,

I was signed up to take it in the summer, but the only way I could get financial aid was to take at least 6 hours. I didn't want to take OChem II and another course in the summer, so I moved Ochem to the fall.

Well they do a lot in the way of child advocacy. I actually just did a bunch of research regarding childhood overweight and obesity. There's this great graph that shows a rise in obesity correlating with a decrease in the number of trips kids make on foot. I could go on and on...

They work on child nutrition (school lunch/breakfast), dental health, formulating an obesity-prevention program (ie 10,000 steps), raising awareness and trying to change policies regarding Medicaid and health insurance... there are a lot of uninsured kids out there. They have a program called Reach Out and Read Milwaukee, giving out books to kids at "wellness checks." There's really a spectrum of issues and corresponding programs.

Hey jje... i think i'm on the same track, too.

Yeah thats a good idea. Taking two classes during the summer is an overload especially when one of them is o. chem.

- I also forgot to mention that I volunteer in cardiology and work in the math lab at my school. Does anyone have any good suggestions to get more exposure because all I do is clerical work with very little patient interaction.

Hey all!

Welcome to the club jje! Congrats on your Calc II grade - if your class is anything like ours tho you must be a math genius to call it an easy A tho lol. I'll be retaking Calc I this summer praying for a C lol, but hopefully it'll be an easier setup (not that the concepts are all that hard) then my previous tries since I'm not taking it at my own school lol.

JKD - yeah biopsych is fun. I think I wish that I could have taken it during a regular semester tho because if we had lectures I don't think I would have used the cdrom that came with our book at all lol. Since we don't have lectures however I'm spending a lot of time copying study questions off the cdrom to direct my studying a bit and it's just a major pain! lol...

Biodude - I was just teasing you about the pool hehe.

granola - so....? How was El Capitan?? I keep a wet towel handy when it gets really hot and cool off that way for a few minutes anyway lol.

Wash - I hadn't really thought about advocacy type stuff yet. Ideally I want to work with a sports team or olympic training center and do sports medicine, but I could definitely see myself doing a few exercise-related advocacy type things. Don't want to go into public health, but I've kind of always extolled the virtures of sports/exercise for being healthy so could see myself getting involved in some of the outreach programs related to exercise...

Sounds like you're having a really fun and educational summer tho! Not only are there a lot of uninsured kids out there but a lot of uninsured people in general. Health insurance is just too expensive for a lot of people, or sucks so bad at an affordable price that many believe it isn't worth spending the little bit to have it.

As for me, I'm just working on biopsych lol. My bf and I went bowling Sat nite. My best game was like 92 but most of them were in the 60s lol. I have a wicked tendency to roll my wrist at the last minute. I used to wear a wrist guard when I was a kid to prevent that lol. Plus the thumb hole was slippery and kept coming loose too early in my swing! We had fun anyway lol. I finally finished copying the questions and key terms for the chapters I want to get thru this week and I intend to read ch 6 tonite, review ch 3-5 tonite, and take the tests on 3-5 tomorrow and then read ch 7 and 8 tomorrow and Wed and review for tests over Ch 6-8 on Thurs.

Have a good one!

Skaterbabe74 - I am sorry if I made you feel dumb becasue I said it was easy. The professor was really easy and it is taught with Mathemaica, which is a computer program that does everything for you. So the combination of the two made it super easy. If it was taught with a textbook I don't think I would have done as well.

jje - No need to apologize. You didn't make me feel dumb. I was actually impressed by the idea that you found Calc II so easy lol. Now I get why it was so easy tho lol. I wish our school used something like Mathemaica. Sounds much more fun than using a textbook and writing everything out lol. Heck we don't even get to use graphing calculators in math classes!

--Jessica, UCCS

Skaterbabe74- That sucks that you can't even use calculators. It's weird becasue lots of people complain about Mathematica being harder and they wished that they use a regular text. It just takes a little practice to get use. I guess I shouldn't have said anything so you would have been impressed lol.

jje - lol...don't worry...i'm still impressed. Anyone who can pull off an A in Calc II (which is supposedly the hardest of the 3 at most schools) regardless of the ease of the instructor is impressive. Our school uses maple a little but it's mostly used in the hard core upper division classes. We can use regular calculators lol. They don't torture us that much (not that we need it much for Calc I anyway), but we can't use graphing ones. Thankfully for my major (biology and chemistry combined BA) I only need to survive Calc I lol. I would have needed Calc II for Physical Chem but between Analytical, Biochem, and Molecular Genetics (which for some odd reason is cross-listed at our school) I'll get the Chem credits I need for the degree 😀 .

--Jessica, UCCS

jje -- Welcome to the under-M1 club and congrats on your calc grade.

biodude ? I?ll check my box for your PM. I just saw your studying schedule?..that sux! When are your classes over?

skaterbabe ? I love bowling, but I suck at it. I usually get around 70s and hit 100 once, but we?re usually drinking when we bowl?..so it?s all for fun.

Yosemite was great. 4 days there is not enough. We didn?t get to climb El Capitan because it was crowded in the valley (where El cap is) and it was too hot (90s). So we went up to Tuolomne (northern part of Yose) where the elevation is 8600? so the temp was perfect for climbing. We climbed the face of Lembert Dome (1000? up) and we watched the sunset from the top of it then hiked down the back side with our headlamps on. We?re planning another trip next month and I can?t wait.

Hi all-I'm back! Welcome to all the new people! I think we should consider ourselves lucky that we've only had one flamer so far on this thread.

My roll call info:
School: University of Wisconsin-Washington County (CC) for 2003, then UW-Milwaukee
Year: Sophomore by credit, freshman by grad date
Age:27
Misc: Married with 2 kids, ages 7 & 9
With any luck, I'll enter in 2007, class of 2011

washkeep-I'm VERY interested in child advocacy-especially for obesity. In my kids' school I deal with quite a few "soccer moms" who have their kids in all sorts of activities "in order to keep them active" but then have no time to cook a decent dinner so order pizza, McDonald's, etc. every night.

Out of the 13 girls in my Girl Scout troop, I would say that six are obese, three are overweight, and the other four are rail-thin (like my daughter). And these girls are only 9! What gets me the most is when we were picking costumes for a talent show dance I choreographed and taught the girls, I had four of the moms veto one I was looking at because "my daughter doesn't have the right body type for that" (guess who those girls were!) The moms were all obese themselves and were more worried about their child's self-esteem than their health. While self-esteem is important, these women just didn't have a clue! For the most part, they seemed to think that being 200-250 lbs themselves was just fine. One even made a snotty comment about my thinness (I just ignored that one-I'm not even that thin!).

And the one I wanted wasn't revealing at all-it was just form-fitting, like most dance costumes are. We wound up going with oversized T-shirts and black palazzo pants instead and it didn't have the stage appeal that I wanted. I just wanted to go off on these parents but I kept my mouth shut instead. If there's any way I can get involved with what you're doing down there, let me know. I only live about 20 miles from Milwaukee and would love to do that!

Biodude and Skaterbabe-it's good to know I'm not the only one without a/c. We took out our old one b/c it wasn't working anymore and are waiting to replace it until we can tear apart the whole front wall where the new one will go (the window and door need replacing too). But at least I can go down in the basement when it gets too hot-I wish I had a pool though! I'm jealous!

I lived in Phoenix and then Hesperia, CA for a while and I just remember the coolest thing was that every apartment complex I lived in had a pool-I miss it so! Lately here in WI it's been up in the high 80's/low 90's with high humidity. Pretty miserable but every chance we get we talk my father-in-law into taking us out on his boat tubing and waterskiing. I'm pretty sunburned right now!

Anyway, I haven't been doing too much else with myself lately. DH and I went to Six Flags last week, had three family parties over the Fourth, went camping for five days with the in-laws, and working on landscaping in my yard. I'm also such a nerd that I went to the library, managed to find old Chemistry and Anatomy textbooks to check out, and I've been doing some work on both. Since I paid absolutely no attention in HS chem, I figured I'd better have a little background before I jump in this fall.

Managed to secure a volunteer thing for the next school year. It's through the YMCA in our area-it's a program where you get to meet one on one with a middle-school age girl twice a month and counsel her about body image, sexuality, peer pressure, etc. They were ecstatic to have me in the program since I was a teenage mom myself and hung out with a rougher crowd in years past and did all sorts of self-sabotaging things, yet managed to claw my way up out of the dregs of society.

And I'm still young enough to remember exactly what I felt like during those years and to relate to whatever "my" girl might be feeling. I remember we had all these presentations in school but they were all given by older teachers and were mainly along theoretical lines. That's probably why they never worked for me, all they said is "just say no" but didn't give out any viable alternatives, and more important, they didn't deal with the feelings that go with it all and which are the primary motivation at that age. Sorry to go on and on, but it's a subject I feel very strongly about and I plan to go out and do what I can about it so that hopefully someone else won't have to go through what I went through.

Anyway, it's getting late here, I've got to finish up the dishes yet and check on my sick son. He spent too long running around in the heat today and got a mild case of heat exhaustion. I think I'll take the kids to the movies tomorrow for the a/c😉

Sounds like a blast granola! And I totally love sunsets at 8600'. They are sooo beautiful. We went to Vail a couple of summers ago and man, the views at the top of the main mtn for skiing are soo gorgeous.

Hey welcome back jenni! Was starting to wonder where you were lol. Sounds like you had a fun-filled, busy week😀 . I sooo miss Great America. Elitch Gardens (Denver's 6 flags) is ok, but I still prefer Great America, although we have a roller coaster now that you lay down on that I want to check out hehe. I definitely don't miss the humidity of the Great Lakes regions but mid 90s+ is hot regardless lol.

The YMCA volunteer thing sounds awesome! And I totally agree with you about the obesity thing. I was an overweight kid despite being extremely active in skating (not obese tho thankfully) partially due to body type but also partially due to the "not having time" thing. At least a couple times a week we'd stop at the local Tastee Freeze for a "snack" afterschool before heading over to the rink. It always included a butter rum milkshake lol. Thankfully I grew out of that in high school but i can't tell you how many lunches of pizza or mashed potatoes I downed over the hs years lol cuz it was the only semi-edible things our school offered. My mom was also obese at the time. Honestly the best shape I was ever in was when I started dancing. I'd dance like 4-5 hours/day, burn tons of calories, and ate the healthiest I ever have in my life cuz you had to fit in something in between classes or die from exhaustion lol. Lots of pretzals, yogurt, and apples during that time lol.

Thankfully my mom has also gotten herself out of the obesity circle she was in. She had to completely change her diet to do it tho because she wasn't very mobile. She's 5' and went from like 250 down to 165 or so and is still working on it. Unfortunately for her it will be a lifetime commitment to not slipping much because her metabolism is still so slow that if she even slips up as little as once a week she notices a difference. She does walk like 1-2 miles everyday now, and while I don't think she'd ever do it I think her next step would be adding some circuit training in to try and raise her metabolism a bit more. I'm just sooo proud of her tho 🙂

Ok I've rambled enough myself lol. Later all!

Just curious... how old are the members in this club?
What majors (for undergrads) are you pursuing?
I am 23, and I finally figured out what to major -- English.
I always wanted to go med school, so I just completed one year of gen chem and some bio courses. I'm tackling calculus for the summer -- anyone else? Thanks for making this club!

Califlower - Welcome to the club 😀 Wow, another southern CA person here 😛 Let's see, so the Californians (or rather people living in CA) on here now are:

granola
CH3CH2OH
Roselee
Valinor
BallerinaTina16
premyo2002
Me

Did I leave anyone out? Oh well, anyways, we have a mixture of ages in this club. I'm not the youngest here, but I'm pretty close...I just turned 19 last week. Most of the people here are non-trads though...that's anywhere from like 23 to um, 29, 30, I guess...

Well let's see here, my major? You could probably tell from my username 😉 I am also attempting to obtain a minor in Philosophy. I also gave a thought about English, but it's really not for me, after careful consideration.

I'll be swinging by Los Angeles sometime soon. Is it alright if I visit you?

granola - your trip sounds pretty awesome. As for my classes, well, my current crop will be over on Thursday this week. Then I will take two more general education classes for the next five weeks. I'll have one week of vacation and then it's off to Fall semester I go on the last week of August. Sounds a bit extreme, but I really want to be able to have more choices when it comes time to register because it gets really annoying to have to sit through classes that you didn't plan on taking for the particular semester.

jenni4476 - Wow, I didn't know that you had to go through all that. Your experience will definitely help with the YMCA 🙂 Now as for the topic of obesity, man is this a touchy topic...come to think of it, I don't really have anything to say that wouldn't start up a heated argument on the subject now...of course, considering that some obese people get it from genetics, and other obese people get it from not exercising and eating too much. Though, considering the way people looked way back when, it seems to me that most of the overweight people of today are that way due to their lifestyles and lack of will power...it is much easier to flop down onto the couch and watch TV while eating delicious bon bons than it is to go out for a daily jog and stick to healthier foods.

I feel sorry for those overweight kids that you had to work with though. Sounds like their mothers don't care so much about the fact that they're at higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, and other related illnesses.

Skaterbabe74 - I can totally understand how difficult it is to lose weight...I've made several attempts and I think that it only worked like once...and I didn't lose much weight either (well, not enough to change my physical appearance, anyway). That was way back when I first got braces 😛, and I realized what a hassle it would be to have to brush my teeth after every single piece of food that passed my lips. So I toned down on eating and practically rejected snacks in addition to going for more swims (it was summer).

Sounds like you're plowing through biopsych. Please keep us updated.

jje428 - Welcome to the club dude. I can't really help you on obtaining more clinical experience because I have had extensive trouble finding any myself. Here's my score card on that area:

Hospice - So far, 2 attempts were made to contact patients, and both failed; I'm currently volunteering as a clerical helper...office paperwork is not fun, and I can sympathize with you on that bit

Hospital 1 - I was nervous on my interview...plus it was a late interview, and I never received an answer, so I assumed I was rejected from the program

Hospital 2 - I got to follow around a surgeon, some residents, and some medical students, "shadowing" them as they went about doing their thing. I went there a second time and realized that I wanted to be more involved in patient contact instead of just standing around in the background wearing a white lab coat and observing what the doctors and medical students did. It was interesting to observe a surgery inside the OR though...

ROP - I tried to sign up to get training as a hospital assistant. Then I would be able to work in a hospital. That way, I would be able to get paid money for providing health care to people. Is it really wrong to worry about money when you're a broke college student? I really don't like relying on financial aid all the time. Anyway, I attempted to sign up, but by the time I got there, the classes were filled up. It looks like health care is a good industry for people looking for jobs 🙁

Hospital 1 again - This time I tried my very best to show interest in the program but right now I'm in the dark as to whether I am accepted into their program or not. They are still trying to figure out who to accept and reject so I still have a chance...

Now as for Calculus over the summer, heh, my pre-med advisor told me to do that...but I think that I'd rather take it during the Fall or Spring semesters, because that way I would have more time to study effectively for it. It's just my opinion on it. Currently I am taking General Education summer courses, as you could see from my previous posts.

Well, that's it, I suppose. Nothing new to report, though I'm running into some troubles in the area of obtaining financial aid. It's quite a hassle, but I think that it will be fixed by the time I register...

Biodude-Good luck with HOAG! Hopefully your assertiveness in the last interview paid off for you. And a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY:clap:

Financial aid departments suck, don't they? Last year here at UW there was a big to-do b/c the financial aid dept couldn't process the stuff in time to make the tuition deadline-there were tons of people who had no way to pay their tuition without it, they must have extended it but I don't remember for sure what happened.

Skaterbabe-That same eating pattern is why I'm as thin as I am now. Not from dancing, though, I'm only in class 2 hours a week. More like running around with kids, doing landscaping in my yard, trying to get my house cleaned and organized and running smoothly before DH and I both tackle full-time college this fall. And not to mention it being so hot out, I hardly have any desire to eat and when I do, it's a piece of ice-cold fruit or some cottage cheese or something.

On the obesity topic, my approach with my kids is to keep them outside running around and playing every chance they get. They're only allowed to come in and watch TV if the weather is rainy or too hot or whatever. They can play in the house or read whenever they want though. I remember my childhood-all the neighborhood kids were always outside every day, no one ever stayed in unless they had to. And none of us that I can remember were overweight. I think it's just a lot of video games, TV, whatever, along with more processed food (which I try to stay away from).

OK, enough rambling for now. Can ya tell I'm getting lonely again sitting at home all summer with no one but my kids to talk to?

hey jenni- well i'm just researching the obesity thing right now. But there has been a wave of obesity prevention/treatment programs throughout the world recently.

There are a few that focus on "steps." Colorado on the Move and 10,000 steps both promote walking by giving people pedometers to track their steps. There are school programs that incorporate nutrition and health education, in addition to regular physical activity. A few afterschool programs have had success in fighting obesity and helping girl with by-products of increased self-esteem and improved performance in school.

After all my researching... reading clinical studies and trial programs, school-based and community-based... it appears that most obesity is not simply a factor of genetics. It is due to lifestyle.
🙂
Our lifestyle is entirely too sedentary. We drive everywhere and our "obesogenic" environments often don't allow us to walk as much. Everything is supersized or family-sized. People also have access to very cheap, very unhealthy foods. In addition, YOU'RE RIGHT JENNI, kids spend too much time playing video games and on the computer. When I was young, my mom would rarely even let us indoors!

And Obesity has HORRIBLE adverse health risks.... premature death, diabetes 2, heart disease, hypertension, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, cancers, reproductive problems, psychological disorders, etc....
😱
So yeah, I think it's an important issue too.

Jenni- great about the volunteering job at YMCA- I know you'll be great!

Welcome Califlower! I'm one of the "older" members of the club at 29, and I'm majoring in both biology and chemistry, and getting a minor in psychology. I'm going to attempt to get thru calculus this summer (if I can come up with the tuition later this month). Otherwise I may have to wait until next summer🙁 . I think I figured out how to come up with the money but it'll depend on whether I can get an emergency loan out of my financial aid (shouldn't be a problem just really didn't want to take more money out of my fall stuff).

Biodude - I've never really consciously tried to lose weight....in high school when I finally got past my chubby kid syndrome it was mostly due to finally growing and losing the "baby fat". When I was dancing it wasn't really conscious but just happened. Although even at that while I was a size 3 dress I still wore 7 or 9 pants so it's partially just my body type to never be rail thin lol. My goal was always to be in shape rather than to lose weight and if I got in shape the weight would just disappear. I'm in pretty good shape now for a mostly non-active person but I wouldn't consider myself in shape...that only happens when I'm actually working out instead of just walking a lot. I did lose a decent amount of weight when I started at UCCS because I automatically added more walking into my life then and had more "nutritious" options available to me at decent prices then when i was working retail. Now for me it's more a matter of money to eat healthy (cuz veggies, fruit, and chicken aren't cheap) when I'm not at school, and finding a workout that I like to stick with it other than dance cuz that's just too expensive right now.

jenni - I totally agree with ya on the plan for your kids. Once I got into skating I didn't spend as much time outdoors because I'd be doing homework then, but before skating we were always outside riding our bikes, golfing, playing tag, etc until dark. I was allowed to watch tv once my homework was done or after dark but the days were always filled with activities. I was always a reader tho so I spent a lot of time in my room or in the car on my way to the rink reading lol. I don't understand the logic of mother's with obese children tho. My mom, even tho obese herself while I was growing up, would never have let me get that heavy even tho I was one of those kids who was really finicky about food and hated most veggies. We were definitely a meat and potatoes family tho...roasts, meatloaf, bbq ribs/chicken, homemade pizzas, sloppy joe, and hamburgers are the meals I remember most often growing up. I hated pork, beans, sauces, and spices back then so many "healthy" meals were out. Now I eat a lot of jambalaya, chili (still don't like beans tho) with elbow noodles, yogurt, and ramen lol. Salads and fruit when I have the funds for it. Since I'm single I don't prepare a lot of "normal" meals like my mom used to make simply because it makes too much and then I have to clean it all up lol. I hope my kids like more stuff then I did as a kid cuz I won't force them to eat stuff they honestly don't like but I also want to instill good food on them.

Ok rant over. Off to do some reading!
--Jessica, UCCS

Skaterbabe-according to my husband, chili should just be beans and meat! I, however, am like you. It's got to have noodles and I hate beans, but I do make the concession of dumping a can of Bush's baked beans in since that's the only kind I can stand. All my friends make fun of me tho, they say it's not chili. IMHO, it's the chili powder that makes the chili and not the beans😉

Gotta agree with you that produce isn't the cheapest thing, although our total food bill is way down now what with DH's diet. I no longer cook big meat dinners like I used to, only a little bit for me and the kids, and mostly salads and other stuff. Most of the time, actually, it's everyone eat their own. I'll make the kids mac-n-cheese with peas in it, I'll eat a can of soup, and DH will make himself a salad. So I figure the extra cost of the produce is offset by the money we're no longer spending on meat. Also, DH doesn't eat nearly as much as he used to-he says his formula is very filling and he's hardly ever hungry. He's lost 5 pounds in a month without even trying. Wish I could do that *sigh*.

Califlower-Welcome! I had a friend who tackled calc over the summer and she said it was much easier than in reg session since it was the only thing she had to concentrate on. I think you're doing the right thing-good luck to you!

As far as my major goes, I'm still undecided. I like English, philosophy, history, and biology. For a minor, I'm considering the above subjects (whatever I don't major in) plus Spanish and business-with my prior credits in accounting I only have two classes left to get a Bus Adm minor. And I had five years of Spanish in middle and high school so it should be easy (tho I've forgotten a lot).

jje-I didn't see your post until now-you rock:clap: Can I have your mathematical ability genetically copied into my head? Better yet, let me figure out a way to do it, then I'll win the Nobel prize and be guaranteed acceptance into medical school (Yeah right!)

LOL Jenni - I don't even like baked beans unless they are extremely well made southern style baked beans with a sweet sauce. It's a consistency thing for me I think. I agree with you tho...it's the chili powder that makes it chili not the beans or meat lol...but yeah i get laughed at as well so I just make it for myself hehe.

Mac n cheese with peas?? gross!! lol...I could handle brocolli or cauliflower but peas? I end up eating a decent amt of mac n cheese too since it's easy to make and doesn't usually need milk lol. I can't do soup in the summer tho....but it sounds like DH and the rest of you have made the adjustment to his new diet quite well😀 . I hate that about men lol....most seem to be able to shed weight in nothing flat while we actually have to work at it (not all obviously but many).

I still haven't heard what my comparative religions grade is...according to our school's website grades for summer classes don't get posted until august but I thought I remembered our prof saying they'd be in by the end of this week. I hope I don't have to wait another full month before finding out lol. I'll go nuts! If it's not up by the end of this week I think I'll email the prof and see if he's done grading yet lol.

In the meantime I'm starting to really look forward to fall classes. I think not doing anything related to my major this summer has really made it hard motivationally for me. While I may not take any classes related to my major next summer I hope to at least do research so I'll keep my feet wet lol. Biostats sounds pretty cool so far. We get to truly learn how to use Excel in this class vs just fudging our way thru to do plots for Chem lab lol. Right now I'm not feeling intimidated by Organic chem or physics but that may change once I starting reading stuff lol. I did good in my hs alg-based chem class so I'm not super worried about that, and while I know organic will be a ton of work the lecture the professor for it gave our Gen Chem II class over organic certainly seemed manageable and not overly intimidating lol. That just leaves cell bio which was my fortay in Gen Bio so will hopefully go just as well🙂 Classes start Aug 24 so I'll have about 3 weeks after biopsych is finished to sort of relax (I'll hopefully be trudging thru calculus then but won't have to go to campus at all).

Nite all

Hey everyone! I'm new to the club and I think it's fantastic! I thought I'd never find a club like this for undergrads! Anyway, a little bit about me, I'm going into my sophomore year with an intended biochem major, french minor. For now I'm technically undeclared, but I'm pretty sure this is how things will work out.
I see there are a lot of people from Cali here... I'm actually from New York, I used to live in the suburbs but now I live in NYC and I'm loving it!

Well, thanks for reading - this is now the end of my introduction😀

Welcome AlpGlo! Wow, we get so many new members all the time that it's become very hard for me to keep track...
