The Value of an RA position on a CV

I recently attained a position as an research assistant for a professor on the staff of my university. The project she is currently working on is putting together a textbook with two other psychologists/authors. The area of research involves looking at therapeutic modalities in relation to multicultural populations. How does this position/research look to future employers? I understand the worth of the research is dependent on the specific job environment, but I am inquiring to others who have this position on their CV. How does this position look in regards to other positions that I could possibly occupy while being a full-time student?

I hold a very similar position currently. However we are working on a qualitative study rather than a textbook. Supervisors that I have interviewed with have been very interested in my work. Working in a multicultural context is looked upon in a very good light in California. I'm not sure where you are working, but I cannot at all see how the work you would be doing would be looked at as anything less than progressive for the field.
