Hey everyone!

I heard there were older AAMC exams out there that are not the AAMC 3, 4, 5 etc.

The old AAMC exams i'm talking about are the longer ones with more questions.

Does anyone know where I could find them?

Also, what practice tests do you guys find the most helpful for preparing?

Thanks!

Parts of the older exams are incorporated into the Self Assessment, so buying those would give you extra exposure to AAMC passages.

And I would start with AAMC 3-11. Those tests are the most accurate, but I've also heard TBR and GS are good, though GS might be more difficult. Not sure on that though.

Is the Self Assessment from the AAMC worth it for the amount of questions?

I also have been doing TBR passages and content review. I recently took AAMC 3 and found that TBR to be much more difficult and different. I still have 8 weeks to my exam from today and have finished content review. But I want to finish TBR passages and just do as many exams as I can.

I think it's definitely worth it. You can buy it as a package to get AAMC 4 too. Or there's another package w/ AAMC 4 and the official guide. There's a ton of questions.

I'm in the same boat as you. Just took AAMC 3 and finished content review. Even though TBR might be a bit harder, I think it will help you focus on content areas you may be weak on. At this point, practicing weak areas is the important thing. Good luck!

No prob. And I have no experience with the TPRH Science workbook, but I'm sure you can search the forums and find some info!

I used TBR, Klein's Orgo 1 and 2 books, EK Bio (content), EK 101 VB, and TPRH VB. I scrapped the EK 1001 series halfway through.

Any reason why you stopped with the EK 1001? I'm worried that I won't have enough problems to apply the content, given that I've already reviewed it a few times. I'm not so good at application without at least a bit of practice.

If I had more time, I would probably consider doing some sections where I wasn't as strong content-wise. Overall though, I felt like EK 1001 was not indicative of the way the MCAT tests at all. There will undoubtedly be some easy discrete questions on the actual exam, but most of it is going to be our application of concepts--not the straight-forward "if the ball is accelerating at X m/s/s for Y m, then how long will it take the ball to hit the ground?". That's why I think passages are much better at testing applications.

That being said, if you're running out of ways to test yourself, then extra problems can't hurt, and they may even reveal weak areas. Good luck 🙂

I agree totally with what your saying. I was using note cards at first and some other methods of handling discrete questions but now I feel that doing passages actually helpes me out with discrete questions too.

The more passages the better!
